Episode 1 : Zod

CLARK IS TRAPPED IN THE PHANTOM ZONE WHILE ZOD TAKES OVER LEX’S BODY AND PLOTS TO DESTROY EARTH; JIMMY OLSEN JOINS THE DAILY PLANET — Thrown into the Phantom Zone, a Kryptonian jail created by Jor-El, Clark (Tom Welling) finds himself without powers and surrounded by revenge-seeking criminals sent away by his father. Meanwhile, having taken over Lex’s (Michael Rosenbaum) body, Zod keeps Lana (Kristin Kreuk) captive with a demand to sire him an heir and begins his plans to turn Earth into a Krypton-like planet using the alien ship’s hard drive. After Lois (Erica Durance) and Martha’s (Annette O’Toole) plane crashes near the Fortress of Solitude, Jor-El tells Martha how to kill Zod. Back at the Daily Planet, Chloe (Allison Mack) reunites with an old flame, Jimmy Olsen (Aaron Ashmore). John Glover also stars. Steven S. DeKnight wrote the episode directed by James Marshall (#2T7701).

Could be a good one the season premier is always good...

Looking forward to this, the first of my fav shows to start. Last season was great and all but there were some episodes which were dire filler and they really need to stop it.

Though with some of the stuff I've heard about this season most of it should be great. They just need to lower the filler episodes down.

This is the first episode of Smallville I've watched since the end of Season 3 when C4 started to bounce it around their various Digital channels and a lot has changed. Like most series the simplicity of the show has gone completely and it is now the Superman mythos shoehorned into Smallville instead of Metropolis. Lana is less annoying in this episode which is good and I knew Jimmy Olsen looked familiar, he is the twin brother of the 'freak of the week' in the Season 1 episode Leech. I'm suprised neither Clark or Chloe mentioned the resemblence.

A bit of an average opener, everything was tied off way too quickly. My biggest gripe is Lana Lang, she has pretty much been worn out storywise and seems to be forced into every tale just so they can keep her active. About time they got rid. Hopefully it will improve throughout the season.

Jimmy Olson......just doesnt work. Why oh why are they forcing everything in from Superman's older years?

I thought it was an excellent opener but yes things were tied up to quickly. Let's just hope they cut down on the filler episodes they just don't work most of the time.

I loved when Lana got impaled in the hand, yeah take that bitch.

Yup gotta agree about that spoiler and any scenes where lex is throwing her around myself and the missus let our a cheer.

I thought it was a cracking opener, but I'm looking forward to this season just for the League stuff and Green Arrow turning up

The season opener was good enough to make me contemplate downloading a further episode. If only to find out who else ended up coming back to earth with Clark (apart from the obvious 'phantom').

Some of the cast of this show are really starting to show their age now as well. :)

I thought it was just 6 phantoms, no?

Episode 2 "Sneeze" is now available from the usual sources. It wasn't a bad episode despite the usual 'main character in peril' plotline and it also has the added plus of Lois running :). Lana is still a hateful character and it's such a pity, I'm rewatching Season 1 on DVD and she used to be so nice.

I hope the green arrow sticks a little goatee on as part of his disguise otherwise i think i may just give up on this until the JLA or whatever they're calling it shows up. got a feeling it's gonna be a bit shit though because either one will be in a costume and the others not or all of them except clark will dress up.

It is getting a bit silly how they are not changing Clark into Superman by now. Just how long can they keep dragging on the innocent country boy who just happens to save the day scenario? Itll be Clark Kent the College Years set in Metropolis next

Didn't know of the Green Arrow before so had a look on Wikipedia. Seems casting could lead to some confusion, no? Justin Hartley, the actor who plays the Green Arrow, also plays Aquaman in that characters own show. While in Smallville, it appears he will be teaming up with Aquaman, played by a different actor who already appeared, when JLA gets formed. Although Aquaman may not get picked up by any network (wasn't for fall, may be for mid-season), making it a moot point. I heard it's shit, though I've not seen it.
