Bad Beats

In all fairness the first one of those isn't really a bad beat at all, since you put most of your money in the flop drawing almost completely dead. With that action on that flop, the least I'd expect to see getting it in would be 2 pair. I mean I really don't see what you can be beating on that flop with a bet and a raise into the pre flop raiser.

I think if you have invested 25% of your stack pre you have to go broke on that kind of board with AA against this kind of opponent even two of them. If they are calling your PFR with those hands they are going broke with any overpair, any pair+OESD, any OESD, any pair + gutshot on this board and your equity is decent/good against all of those esp. given pot odds.

As for the 2nd hand, you can't really call preflop with only 12bb behind, it's either push or fold there, since he'll presumably shove his entire range on the flop, meaning you can't continue if you don't hit. It seems that you were doomed whatever, though. Unlucky.

I dont hate the limp if there has been a really aggressive guy at the table, if you are forced to fold AQo on a non-AQ flop then oh well I think it can work out more +EV to flat sometimes expecting lots of inferior hands to come over the top that wouldnt otherwise. Having said that some players treat a limp at this stage in the tournament as the nuts (for this exact reason) so it is villian dependent although based on the previous hand I dont think we are giving villians that much credit.

What BI where these tournaments Commander Jameson?

Nah, I disagree with limping looking to trap the aggro shover I really don't think AQ is big enough to be trapping with pre, since at best you'll be 60/40 or flipping for your tourney life. 1 bad card when you call his shove with 96o and you're dead. Either raise 3/4bb calling any shove, or just shove all in pre. As played I'd just shove over the raiser as I really hate 10/15 bb stacks. They're a pain to play, since I always feel the risk/reward to a shove is maybe not big enough, but at the same time you can't really afford to see flops.

ARGH! FILTH!

Normally I'd take a different line on this river, but this guy's a complete calling station who just LOVES to bluff his missed flushes on the river. I have no idea whatsoever he was doing in this pot on the turn. Just ludicrous.

I'd forgotten about this thread because I hadn't played in quite a while. Quite a simple bad beat on my part.

Look down at AK suited on the button, and put in a raise just over 3 BBs, I then see two people shove in front of me, first for about 12 BBs, the other for about 7 BBs. Knowing they're both a bit loose, and seeing a chance to make some good chips, I call, just having them both covered.

They BOTH flip over KQos... cue a rivered straight for them and them chopping up my lovely chips.

Playing with my mates the other day for the first time in ages, came second in the first game we played, made all the right calls just a bit unlucky, wasn't too mad about that one. Second game though, came second again, all in on flop with AQ suited for a ace high flush, and get beaten by full house on the river, it really hurt!!!

Christ I've never run this badly. I've lost 6 of the last 7 hands where I've got it all in on the flop as a 60%+ favourite, and on the few occasions I've been a dog I can't buy a suckout for love nor money. I'm down something like 8 buyins when I should be up about 4. This is so stupid.

All you can do is keep getting your money in good and expecting it to turn around at some point. Nearly 27BI down over my last 100k hands is pretty bad though!

Lmao at him betting over 4x pot with overcards and a runner runner flush draw out of position. Standard play on Stars donkaments it seems, and the idiots always seem to hit. I presume you knew from his previous play that he probably had an inferior hand? Anyway that is a rough way to exit a tournament, looks like you were fairly deep too.

Don't you just hate it when that happens! I'd been playing pretty agressively the past few hands, but still surprised he called my check-raise on the flop with just middle pair. Even more surprising he called when I forced him all-in - up until the final 3 I'd been playing pretty tight, and although I'd been agressive when necessary I'd won most showdowns convincingly...suppose he was more or less pot committed at that point though.

Fucking river :quote:

Still, made the money at least :(

AK vs A8 - lost to trip 8s

AK vs A8 - lost to runner-runner straight

77 vs AK - lost to two pairs

AK vs AQ - lost to Q on flop

Ridiculous.

I hate to sound like a whiney broken record, but this is how i've been running almost all the time for the last month or more. You get used to it.

If you think those are bad though, how does holding 99 vs K8os and losing after seeing a 9xK flop sound? Turn and river were both kings. Pretty funny really.

I am having the wierdest night. Of 9 all ins I've managed to lose 8, despite being either a flip or a favourite in all of them, but at the same time people keep trying to bluff me off the nuts on the river and are paying off all my value bets, so I'm actually up a fair bit. It's quite bizarre. I just wish i was up as much as i was meant to be
