Thanks for the help and invitation to the raid.

I was pretty clueless I'll be honest.

I need to practice my jumping!

I had a thought afterwards... Would it be easier if I had my sword out? 3rd person jumping and all that.

But besides all that faffing I got some cool stuff.

It boosted me from 304-306.

That Machine gun though! Just tried it in the crucible and I can now see why it's so popular.

Thanks again.

They should have just done 'Sorry-about-smart-loot-here's-some-320-loot Mode' from the beginning really. This mode feels like it's correcting an earlier 'error' - both in terms of challenge (wouldn't it have been nice to have these modifiers for HM War Priest right from the start?) and of giving a guaranteed light level for dropped gear. I'm not complaining about the challenge per se (even though it is essentially what we were all doing anyway), and certainly not about the reward (which was, for once, actually of some use) - more than it's taken weeks of grindy disappointment for them to actually come up with something that felt complete and fairly rewarding. It just feels like they've strung HM out for the sake of it - it feels like this is the actual HM raid, with concomitant rewards, and the HM raid we got a few weeks back was just raid v1.5 with crippled rewards designed to tide you over and keep you on the hook until December - when they'd usually be releasing more substantive DLC.

So yeah, we actually enjoyed it tonight, for the first time in a few weeks, despite my observations above. It shouldn't have taken this long though. Hopefully Golgo will step it up a bit higher (though I'm sure we can all guess at the likely mechanics - I reckon we got it nailed down the first time we did it, before we reverted to 'easy mode'. And if so, it'll certainly challenge some who've never done it that way in the past...).

I think it's a very smart way of getting people to run the raid on all three characters for the next three weeks and it's good that there's finally a way of getting guaranteed 320 rewards. Will also make the raid feel different each week, if only in part, which is good.

Surprised at the challenge conditions. I guess some groups were rotating so that the same person has the aura each time? As Donut says it's just a matter of doing it the normal way rather than a special way. Sounds like Golgoroth will be different anyway.

I was surprised that I couldn't really be bothered with it. I was tired last night admittedly but the thought of running all the rest of the raid for loot I don't really need was just ehhh, even with 320 gear on offer.

The problem is that they are tied down to the existing normal and hard modes. I think it would have been better if challenge mode was another difficulty so they could actually change some mechanics. For example, Warpriest could...

  • Have Taken spawning from the start instead of Hive
  • Health capped at 25% per aura
  • Extra enemies spawning during the aura phase
  • Modifiers like 'Grounded'

They could also change the challenge rewards to vanity items. Ships, sparrows, emblems, shaders, the same armour pieces with slightly different styles/colour schemes, introduce titles, emotes etc. That would be enough for people to run the raid multiple times.

As for the 310 & 320 loot, they should patch it so items drop at a set light level and it becomes about getting the perks you want rather than putting on whatever has the most light. Infusion would still have a place with PVP items and exotics. Horizontal progression is nice innit.

I mean, they won't. But it would be nice.

Yeah, it would be nice if the challenge was different the next time WP rolls around. Keep him staggered during aura for example, so he doesn't get any shots fired off at the team. Something to keep people on their toes with an extra 320 drop as a reward if you meet the criteria. Who knows, they may well have that in mind. Possibly maybe not though.

As for Golgoroth - having to swap to gaze holders for each downed orb would be cool. Hectic for those who have never held the gaze before, but people are doing something new and getting goodies they want in the process. They could even implement actual smart loot for these encounters and Baz could stop moaning about his lack of legs! ;)

Remember when you could get that extra (ultimately pointless) chest from preventing the Templar from teleporting? More stuff like that, please. Minus pointless stuff.

Dunno if people care much but supposedly the first roll for the Suros PDX45 from Armsday orders is meant to be rather good.

From Reddit:

A short range burstfire laser beam, this Foundry Hawksaw has slightly worse range out of the box than its vendor counterpart, but a much better paintjob with the classic Suros red and white. Roll 1 is stupid and no one should buy it.

ROLL 1: Perfect Balance / Feather Mag; Hidden Hand; Snapshot / Rifled Barrel

This roll means you will have zero side-to-side recoil (on a gun with minimal recoil overall), your reticle will stick to target's heads like white on rice (something like 100 Aim Assist with this perk), and your effective range will be doubled (this last is the gun's biggest problem, solved). Nobody buy it unless you're planning to join my fireteam. Please?

Is that what you order today or pick up? I've stopped ordering for each week as the items take up too much space :(

If you ordered a PDX45 last week, this is the recommended roll to choose.

EDIT: should say people are rating this for Crucible more than anything. Particularly the range boosts given Pulses will get a range nerf in a couple of weeks.

I've joined the 100 to try and drum up some players for a raid on Xbox One if anyone fancies joining. https://www.the100.io/groups/180

This site is a revelation!

Thanks

This forum (rllmuk) is an amazing place to find groups to play with but with work and family commitments I find it hard to fit into other people's schedules.

With this site you can set the event and the time you want to play and people just add themselves to your posting.

The times I've picked so far are early morning (after school drop offs) and I've ended up playing with Australians and Americans but both times they have been friendly and fun.

While I don't think it compares to playing Brits and having the banter and back and forth on this here forum it fits in great with my shifts.

Man that was harsh, doing our 3rd Warpriest run, all going well and the aura holder dies just as we are about to kill the boss, aura passes to Finite who had already held it in the previous phase.

Warpriest goes down, no challenge rewards.

Anyone got a Warpriest checkpoint we can plunder tomorrow?

That was a real kick in the balls. Especially as it was a great last second recovery from disaster to drop the priest!
