Even our rag tag group, some of whom were drunk, mentioned killed Warpriest for the first time in 2 phases. [sidenote and we all got useable loot for a change, which was a nice difference from our first Totems kill where no one got anything...]

(Well actually the total number of phases for the night was probably nearer 40 :P Our last attempt was just 2 though :))

Weekly Nightfall: This week’s Nightfall is Fallen S.A.B.E.R. with Void burn, Brawler, Juggler, and Ironclad. Brawler greatly increases your melee damage, Juggler prevents ammo drops for your equipped weapon type, and Ironclad increases the number of enemies with shields.

Perfect timing Shimmy. We are a man short for a normal Oryx from 815 this evening. You about? The team is as folllows:

Stebbo

Oz

Markh

LeChuck

Kyuss

Anyone interested please post on the online folder (Tuesday Team). Thanks!

Challenge is to do it in 2 auras. You get a 310 artifact for normal, a 320 one for hard.

Fuck we did this last week! I am assuming this means 2 auras with as many wipes as you want? Or restarting on wipes?

1st Challenge Mode (War Priest) criteria spoilered, just in case someone wants to figure it out from scratch.

I don't think that's quite it - it seems there are other requirements, and maybe you don't actually need to meet that one.

Quite a few who offed him in two rounds didn't get drops. At least one retried the raid on the same character after doing him in two rounds the first go and getting nothing (confirming you can get the drop even on that second go - it appeared in a chest, apparently). On that successful second go the difference was, they had a different person get the buff each time - so it looks as if that might be a requirement. Also, someone's fairly reliably reported getting the drops on a 4-round run, not a 2-round one. Current frontrunner for main criterion is therefore that a different person should hold the buff each go - and I guess it'd be wise to do WP in two rounds, but that's by no means certain.

I'm sure more info will come in by this evening.

To be fair, I don't think it's the sort of thing people will want spoilered - the mystery's all about working out the raid in the first place that first time; for a subsequently added challenge mode for vets it'd probably be fairer (and clearer) for Bungie just to tell you what the challenge criteria actually are before you start. But you never know, so I've spoilered it anyway.

I've been patrolling on earth for 3 hours and not one fucking Warsat event has triggered!

Get to Fuck!

Ridiculous.

Here's a tip for that, if you're using destinypublicevents.com for the timing, only aim for the events where there's two possible types listed and one of them is warsat. that way there's a 50/50 chance it'll be warsats.

Some of the public events can have up to 5 different events trigger making it unlikely you'll get warsats.

The latter. Edit: by which I mean it's an indivisible part of this week's HM run, not an optional extra (though obviously you can do the WP and continue on with the raid regardless even if you don't do him the 'right' way to trigger the challenge rewards) - there are reports of mobs being tougher/quicker to appear and stuff, but if that's correct they're there whether you like it or not.

So is there a patch for this. Not sure I understand.

No, there's no patch - the code's already there. It's just Bungie turning on some modifiers at reset like they do with Nightfall etc.

The success criteria now seem to be reasonably certain:

You just have to do the WP with a different buff holder every time - if the same person gets to hold the buff twice, you fail. Nothing else seems to matter - number of rounds, where you shoot from/hide, whether you wipe or not, all that seems immaterial. So I guess if your buff holder dies and the buff transfers to someone who's already held it, you might as well wipe and go again. Apart from that, there don't seem to be any modifiers to mob numbers, damage, or anything else, so it seems straightforward really: just play it how you normally would, apart from making sure the same person doesn't step on the last active plate more than once.

So is this all we can expect from now until September next year? Challenge modes, and maybe some old guns brought up to year 2?

It's not enough. What hasn't helped is that while the King's Fall raid has been a superb success, and I've definitely had more than my money's worth, it still suffered from Bungie making some woeful missteps. No-one raids for the weapons other than Quilim's Terminus. All the other raid weapons are utter shit. Crota raid weapons were worth raiding for, and everyone lusted after Fatebringer and the Vex Mythoclast from the Vault. But the King's Fall weapons? Who gives a fuck?

Then there's hard mode, where the final step is a massive spike in difficulty compared to the rest of it, and getting enough light to make it doable is a ridiculous grind reliant on the rng nonsense everyone said was the worst part of year 1.

They've also discarded great and fun strikes like Phogoth and Sepiks. The strike playlist is tiresome. Are they to release new versions of those as 'new content' down the line? Too little, too late, if that's the case.

Tonight may well be my last raid. I've pretty much had enough of the content. The excellent raid teams I've been in have made the game last, and also made them really good fun. But that fun is now turning into a chore. Kind of like being at work, but with excellent workmates for banter, but work nonetheless. :(

Cocoon on the Raid weapons are very handy, especially when you're at the Shade or Oryx stage on HM. I wouldn't say there's a massive difficulty spike, you just need tighter communication and co-ordination to take down Oryx than you do on normal. Oh, and Bubbly Titans*.

Hopefully the 320 artifact will bump people closer to 316 or above too, which is the next increment for damage done / taken for HM. I've had some great infusion fodder from IB and Trials too, so you don't necessarily have to hammer the raid to get higher light.

I did enjoy the random element in Strikes for a bit, but they really should've have a playlist for everything. Challenge modes would've been nice there too.

*Titans are the best.

Good advice.

I was desperate after 2 hours and I went to every event stage at the time they were supposed to start and still never saw one?!?

Is each site on a rotation?

Can I just stay in one place and wait for it to come round in the playlist?

Does Mothyards even have an event? I went there a few times and didn't see anything at all.
