Been preparing to download for bloody ages now. Doesn't take this long to prepare Christmas dinner.

Was 'preparing to download' on 0% for about 10 mins has now jumped up to 75% counting up more normally (very slowly) now.. still got the patch to go yet.. :(

PSN likes to bottleneck everyones downloads, the amount of times I've paused and resumed and the download goes from taking 5+ hours to something like 5 minutes is ridiculous. I have superfast broadband, so this sort of stuff pisses me off after using Steam and having full games download in about 10-15 minutes, to using PSN and 15 mb taking the same length of time.

Anyway, whats the price of weapon parts? Cant just say you're swimming in them. Details man, details!!!

Machine gun looks good, hand cannon basically has the chest tracker perk that hunters get as a nightstalker, as well as radar when aiming. Probably not worth going for unless you want that chest tracking perk, but you'll probably go for rank 5 anyway for the package.

Edit: Found an odd bug - my wolfswood mark on my titan is showing the iron banner symbol with no perk or anything next to it, then when I close and re-open my inventory it shows a random perk (increases the upgrade rate of hand cannons, increased ammo capacity for machine guns being the main two, but I had the chance to generate an orb when killing a minion of the darkness or something briefly as well). Dunno if its doing this with other class items.

Back on this.

Got the Taken King on the go and finished the first two missions.

There's a mission marker on the Cosmodrome. I've been around the whole place and nothing! Wuz that about?

Have look in your quests page. Probably the taken war part. You need to hang around in 3 different areas and kill the taken captains when they appear. This triggers a Taken boss. Kill it. Kill all 3 and you should be done.

Rotten hour and a bit on Iron Banner there. Seven games, positive in most of them, only won once (the last, when I tried sniping on Widow's Court and had a 0.4kd).

Not sure about Clash. It's obvious, I know, but it really is just about killing the men, and if one person on the team has a bad game it can ruin it for everyone. Shouldn't be playing it with randoms really - I've had some terrible lag too, obvs - but it's been a while since Destiny pvp has been that annoying.

Oh and one of the dailies is to win a match with a score of 2,500, which in a game with a 10,000 score limit is just nuts. Can't see myself getting that too often, if at all.

Yeah the 2500 is gonna be rock hard. Only the top on each team were getting that. That's not me.

I haven't really enjoyed it at all, I must say - certainly not as much as Control, even when we've won (which was, er, once). I just don't particularly enjoy the game type. Big mistake to make this and Trials both non-objective games imo.

Kauwiks from here got 2500 a couple of times, but we never won a game.

2500 feels far to hard for the average player for a "Daily" bounty, and with it not being control I can't see myself getting the Top Overall Score.

I really miss it being objective based when you could make decent

But several games tonight, mostly against 2 or more Titans chaining hammers and/or 1 or 2 of the opposing team having red connection made kill focused fights feel rather tiresome. (Party chat with chums made it bareable)

I got to 2005 earlier. And we were in a team of 3 or 4 I think. Its possible, but I dont think its right to set it as a daily. Not everyone can do that consistently.

The drops have also been rubbish (all blues), as usual. Not really surprised I have to say. Used to it by now.

Also sorry to Hesitatingsunsinger, who basically had me complaining in party chat while losing every match I played on my own after our group split up :lol: (I basically played like shit all day today)

Well the update has broken my 8 week ghost curse, tonight I got, 298,295 and a 304. Decoded my cache of exotic engrams which yielded a handful of 310 weapons and armour the raid didn't offer much other than the ghost and two of the heavy machine guns at 300... In all a fitting farewell (for now) 300 to 304 is a good night's work.

Tried the new Iron Banner last night. Clash is definitely less fun for me than Control. It feels like a misstep, even though every one of the 4 games I played was nail-bitingly close. Also, the much-commented on 2500 point bounty seems like impossibility for me. It's only a 10k limit; a 6-a-side makes that startlingly high.

I'm also now firmly of the opinion that the levelling of kit model is broken. I'm variously sitting between about 303 and 313 Light on my 3 characters, depending on what I equip, and how many weapons I move around via the Vault. Getting to 290-295 was fine: blue engrams decode at a nice range of values, and once you get up to the upper end of the scale, the blues go all the way to 299 (maybe a little higher?)

And then the roadmap is pretty clear - do the Raid for drops from 300 to 310. Once a week. So you eventually pip 300, 301, 302. Now we've got Trials also.

But you're stuck. Any new gun you get drops at 280. It's useless to you in anything other than unranked Crucible. New armour the same. You can Infuse with your Raid gear, but then 1) you lose the raid gear, and 2) you lose some Light, as it doesn't upgrade all the way.

And Raid drops are both scarce and unreliable! RNG to see if you get a drop at all (it's not at all unusual to get to a loot drop and see all 6 players receive nothing but Shards) and then the RNG on the Light level (a 300 Machine Gun! Thanks Golgoroth) so you're still fucked if increasing is your goal.

Bungie were quite clear they wanted the new system to mean people could wear and shoot the items they loved. Everyone in Iron Banner is wearing 2 or 3 Raid armours, because that's all we've got. And we don't have enough of it to viably throw it away Infusing the lower level stuff. It means I don't want to buy much vendor gear (280), no longer care about Armsday (280) and am struggling to even lust after the Iron Banner vendor (280.)

It's broken. And I've been lucky! I got a 320 Ghost from HM Raid last night.

Seems to me we'd be better off if weapon dismantling dropped a resource you collected to infuse. And that higher light/higher rarity stuff dropped more. And they allowed it that way. Then, I could wear anything I wanted. Sure, it'd turn it back into a straight grind. But Good players (ie those who braved HM Raid or Trials) would get results faster than those patrolling for blue engrams.

I'm not sure the end game is right today at all. Everyone I play with is getting pretty hacked off.

Nicely put, Mike. I think the journey from level 40 to 300 light was brilliant. Just a lovely, steady climb, a nice mix of guaranteed drops and RNG. Even blues at least had the potential to be useful. The climb from 300 to 30something was okayyy, just made the raid the endgame activity we always expected it to be. But I think it's hard mode's push to 320 that's killed it. Nothing else matters from a power-game perspective and obviously the RNG system in hard mode itself has been really badly misjudged. It should be raining 315-light gear on me so I can infuse it into the stuff I actually want to wear.

I can only hope this stuff is going to change in December. Fix raid drops at 315 minimum, push max light level on blues up to 310 and exotics to 320, and we're getting somewhere. I'd also like to be able to infuse any weapon into any weapon, and any armour into any armour, though that may be because my Titan has built a granny-annexe out of raid chest pieces.

I agree that weapons should infuse weapons regardless of slot. Same with armour. That would ease some of the pressure. And yeah, even Exotics are of little use to me now. Sure I can almost guarantee a random drop three of coins drops at 310. On one character. But that's still lower than I need.

It's really painful today. I get the impression Bungie would tell me they're encouraging me to make "hard choices" when I have to Infuse my Raid Scout into my Nirwen's Mercy to play IB. And they are. But I worked hard for that Scout Rifle. It shouldn't be Infusion-fodder in the first place (I should want to keep it, and it's not very good) and I'll still be worse off for Light when I've done it.

Gah.

Then I have to make the same "hard choice" when I get to rank 5 this week and pick up the Hand Cannon. Only I don't have another raid primary. So I need to throw away my Jade Rabbit or Zhalo Supercell. Which I do not want to do.
