Destiny: FIN

Aye. To boost from 22 to 25 isn't really worth the use of the consumable - those 3 extra levels will make bugger all difference by the time you've played through the story content, as you'll hit 40 before you get to the end of the TTK story missions anyway. And in Destiny, TTK edition, life really does begin at 40.

I've just reached level 40...

now it's time to buddy up and try all this amazing stuff you guys have been going on about. :)

I'm level 22 / +99 and haven't done any of The Dark Below or House of Wolves. I would be surprised if I ever created a second character. Should I munch on this one time power up to take me to Level 25 and begin TTK straight away or should I play the previous expansion pack content and level up normally?

I played through all the expansions and stuff and was at about level 34 before starting TTK. I've just got to level 40 and I've still quite a lot to go in TTK.

I'd like to try some of the older raids - I know folks might not be up for it as they don't drop good loot anymore - but I'd like to play through the levels and see how they contribute to the story. I'm funny that way.

I tried the Crota one on the Moon myself - but the endless sea of Thrall at the beginning is too much for me and my lvl 40 220 light titan.

I will happily do legacy raids with people for fun. At lvl 40, they're a bit of a cakewalk, but they're still fun.

The Vault of Glass is still the best thing about Destiny, its great fun, and I hope the gang you go in with let you work the mechanics out.

I'm happy to come along too btw.

I'd be happy to join you on either of the old raids. I've been through the new one but not the previous two.

Dude really? You've been on Destiny for ages?!

Should of pinged me a message would of sorted out a team sooner!

I know. I just never got organised first time around then took a break before TTK came out. Still been enjoying the game but realise what I missed out on tackling the latest raid.

Somewhere along the line, people playing MP shooters got used to quiet. Went 7-0 on trials and then things got sweaty so if I went down, as usual (and as per gears experience) I'd call out enemies, making sure I'm heard on call outs and repeating it twice). But people don't like that anymore. They wanna play trials but win just like heading in random pubs. It's not gonna happen!

Was surprised how well we did, after so long not playing crucible, but jeez, i got salty.

Still, got some good loot for an hour's work.

I did trials on Saturday. We got hammered, didn't even get 5 wins, and I quite like the look of the helmet too. Typical that is. I also didn't get anything worth a damn from the bounties.

Would have liked another crack last night, but everyone was already in teams or doing raids etc.

I'd love to get 5 wins for the helm on my Titan (as its got the same stats as my current pvp helm, but better perks, and looks cool to boot), but chances of that happening are pretty slim, especially what with trying to get 2 others to do trials at such short notice.

So I picked up a TTK code tonight. I've been away from Destiny since October last year. I'm a level 22 Titan with 27 hours on the clock. I got to the end of the vanilla story (such as it was), didn't play any crucible, raids or expansion packs. I'm a bit rubbish. I'd like to have a quick blast through the new story content, see what the game is like nowadays.

Any tips? Is there a post or thread that will get me up to speed?

I'm level 27, and abandoned it at the same time you did. We could team up if you like?

Sure. Right now I've been making my way through lower level stuff that I can get through on my own due to being over levelled but I'm sure I'll need help at some stage.

It seems a bit weird going through Destiny without people around, last year there were hundreds of people at a similar level doing the same stuff. Now it seems spookily empty.

On the other hand it seems more generous now, both with the drops and with knowing there's a load of story content to go around. And I like the way the quest lines are better explained in the ui now.

In short it's nice to be back, it's a nostalgic rush and popping heads is a lovely as ever. It's so much more pleasant and stress free than other games, like settling into a warm bath of shooting things in the face. I can see you've all had an enjoyable year.

Not sure I'm going to get on to the more complicated stuff before my Destiny holiday is over. And I'll probably never get on to a raid, being hauled around a really tricky level by 5 experts while I fall off things sounds mortifying. We'll see.
