Destiny: FIN

Gorf King

Not bad in Trials. Didn't get flawless sadly, but got 2 sets of bounties done thanks to Wavy, Marmite and a random we got in to help.

Titan didn't get anything really great out of the gold bounty (305 chest with naff stats) but I did get a pair of 308 boots on my hunter, and the rather nice scout with hidden hand and full auto. Got the ship and the bling ghost too.

My Hunter gets all the good drops, just ask Gorf :P

Edit: Funny Trials video

Is Bungie/Activision planning on releasing the soundtrack from The Taken King, some of the music, like in today's Daily Heroic, is superb.

if they could sell you their genitals they would. also, i would totally buy them.

Got to seven wins last night with Donut and Spatular. We breezed to 5-0 pretty comfortably but then it all just fell apart a bit, it's really hard on a map you don't yet have callouts for ('there...on the...outsidey bit....the tree....no, not that tree, the other tree....he's at outside heavy...oh crap, both heavies are outside').

Still, seven wins meant the scout rifle, which dropped with Hidden Hand and Full Auto. Doesn't look too stable but looking forward to giving it a go. The gold-tier bounty gave me another void fusion - I am going to open a void fusion shop.

I can only conclude that I'm absolute shite at Trials. The 45 mins I played with Mr Ben and Jerec were a disaster, not even close matches for most of it. I have yet to have a good run on Trials, and because of that actually enjoy it as much as I thought I would.

A quick question here...

I'm playing through the other expansions, Wolves thing and Dark Below, before going onto the Taken King.

It seems that they've just appeared as missions on each planet. I've completed the Wolves one - but had really very little idea of what was going on. There was no-one giving out the quests in any particular order. Which meant scouring around looking for the missions and working out which one to play first based on the recommended level.

Is this right?

The same seems to go for the Dark Below quests.

it makes some sense if you start reading the quest log. but making some sense will be as good as it gets until you get to taken king. which makes total sense but it's still rubbish albeit more whimsical and entertaining. please don't play this game single player. join a fireteam with us. whenever someone jumps in single player I feel a bit embarassed like someone came over and the house was a mess. it is great a promise but you must play with others.

H, just picked up The Taken King after bouncing off the game at release. Finally got up to lvl40 but seem underpowered in terms of weapons and armour (only really using blues with one legendary). Any one up for some strikes this evening? Need to get some farming going?

Also how do you join the clan, I've played solo up to this point but seem to be missing out on the main part of the game.

in new destiny you are better off doing quests for guaranteed legendaries rather than farming. also daily crucible and story for marks to buy shit. i really would not do 100 strikes hoping for loot.

one quest is doing 10 strikes for example. if I recall. that gives you a 300 legendary shotgun.

don't play solo. clan is joined on the website bungie.net. add everyone here as friends. have a look at the online folders for groups formed for high level activities. invite people here and on psn. there's a thread on the online folder with active psn members. i will accept all invites unless they come from hunters.

I actually really enjoy the missions, in single player they can throw up some real halo-like moments - but I did a few with some mates before, and I missed half of what was going on as they battered the bosses quickly and stormed through the levels at breakneck speed. I quite enjoy experiencing them by myself at first and then joining up online to do them with others.

That Skalos guy at the end of the Wolves campaign went down like a ton of bricks when I unleashed my machine gun on him.... BADDABADDABADDABADDABADDA

The fact you refer to the Kell of Kells, Bane of the Reef, Relentless Stubborn Chucklefuck of the Prison of Elders as "that Skolas guy" is pretty endearing. I guess now the level cap's up new people will wonder why he was ever a threat in the first place.

Oh - was he difficult when he first came out?

The time shifting platforms thing on the way to him was more annoying I thought.

Scott was on about the story mode boss, not PoE though. Although he is easy in PoE now too

That's what I mean though, he'll forever be "that guy from the story mode" and "the slightly harder version of that guy from the story mode". As opposed to Skolas, Eater of Weeknights, Fell Harbinger of the Angry Significant Other.

How long is Trials on for?

Despite getting pretty bobbins loot (SuperMBO pinched it all) I had a lovely time. We did terribly better than expected (4-3!) and fights were generally tense and fund. (There were one or two where their gear and skill level was ridiculously above us though)

I found the "punch in the face" method alarmingly effective. I assume due to the element of surprise.

You could say the same for Atheon and Crota though - the two earlier raids are trivial now, and their rewards almost pointless.

I think Bungie should beef them up a bit in terms of level, and if Y1 weapons are now irrelevant - and they are - just get rid and completely rewrite the loot tables with useful drops (armour can stay the same but be bumped, or at least made infusable). Might take them out of the playthrough timeline a little in terms of difficulty, but let's face it - people don't stop off at level 26 to get a VoG raid crew together. They'll do it at 40 anyway, if at all.

As it stands now, the old endgame is just marooned.

capturing skolas is easy. when in jail he challlenges you to a 'duel' in that you are allowed to bring 2 friends to a fight and he invites about 7000 of his prison buddies. his time in jail (sodomy and porridge) gave him 100 times the health the ability to poison guardians AND the ability to summon mines that can at times be dismantled (althought they randomly explode anyway). its a bit of a joker situation in arkham asylum. he must have drank that same cocktail.

while I agree it is probably worth to run through new story missions solo the first time. everything else in destiny is a million times better with others. i used to say the same thing in that I thought i was enjoying myself soloing missions. truth is this games shines when content is harder and requires coordination with friends or when it is easy so you can focus on the banther. always play with others.
