Argh stop.

You see the fact of the matter is I will prob get a PS4 at some point.

Shit why am I looking at PS4 deals?

Here's a video of me playing with the Jade Rabbit (exclusive to PS4) while wearing my harry potter robes (exclusive to PS4). That gun has a picture of a little rabbit in the magazine, seriously? I recorded this just by pressing a button, like a normal person. I don't like talking with inanimate objects. That's enough from me as Jon probably has an eye on this thread. But, you know what's better than one console? TWO CONSOLES!

I had a quick Google and found this Loose Change style rambling conspiracy theory about her being Crota's girlfriend.

So, we are operating under the assumption that (according to Reddit users), we players/Guardians have been agents of the Darkness.

The depowered Traveler, under the guise of the Speaker, has been manipulating us to do its deeds.

Guardians were once dead, or in a state of stasis, before being revived by Ghosts as seen once you start a game.

We are also moldable, in a way, with no recollection of our past identity, save that we simply do the missions assigned to us.

Being moldable, various factions vie for our services - this includes Eris.

THEORY:

Eris is one of the bad guys; Crota is one of the good guys!

Crota is a son of Oryx (it is unknown how many sons Oryx, the Hive's God, has fathered - suffice to say there should be many).

Crota is leading a faction that aims to rid his entire Hive race of the influence of the Traveler (hence capturing a "piece of the Traveler" during one such mission).

Another clue is the Sword Relic that you pick up after killing a Blade of Crota.

Notice how, similar to the Shield Relic (from VOG), it also has a shiny glow.

Is it because it's just another relic and should be more visible?

Is it because of lazy game design?

Nope - it's because much like how the Shield Relic was infused with Kabr's "Light", so too is the Sword Relic infused with a form of "Light".

TL;DR = Crota is empowered by Light.

So where does Eris the baddie come in?

Well Eris was tasked to take out Crota before he could amass his army and take out the evil Traveler and the Speaker.

Eris and her fireteam failed - Eris was captured.

Since Crota was one of the good guys, he showed Eris the error of her ways and the two became lovers.

Crota and Eris became bonded to the point that Eris herself transformed to have three glowing eyes.

Unfortunately for Eris, it seems Crota had a few "extra-curricular activities" on the side - namely Omnigul and Ir-Yut, the Deathsinger (who was actually a former Guardian as well).

Eris vowed revenge for Crota's unfaithfulness and escaped.

She then went back to her old mission - killing Crota and wiping out his faction - which is why her quotes were extremely "personal" when it came to the Hive boss.

TL;DR = Eris wanted to kill Crota, but fell for him instead. Crota cheated on her, she went bat-**** crazy!

So what makes Eris "evil"?

There are two clues - her name and the rewards for leveling reputation.

Her name: "Eris Morn"

- 'morn' sounds the same as 'mourne', which was when she became an agent of the Darkness

- upon falling for Crota, she realized it may have meant 'morning' instead - a fresh start

- things did not work out so well so she went back to the old meaning, as she was 'mourning' her heart being broken

Reputation Rewards:

- Predawne (Rank 2), daybreak, the start of a new day

- Midday (Rank 3), when the sun (light) is at its peak

- Sunsetting (Rank 4), finally, once you reach max reputation, you get this, which means the light is going out and the darkness is taking over

Stretching more than Stretch Armstrong having his morning stretch.

Most of that doesn't fit with the Taken King lore in stuff like the Books of Sorrow.

It's clear the Hive and the Traveller are in direct opposition.

It's not clear that the Traveller is a "good" guy. Rasputin labeled it as psuedo-altruistic, helping us so we help it, and it previously "helped" the Fallen, and then abandoned them and a number of other alien races before that.

But Toland, The Awoken Queen and Eris do have something going on.

Ok. So some insane nutjob I play with insists Eris is Crota's mum. There's absolute nothing I can see to back that up.

He's madder than the hatter right?

Hello, insane nutjob here!

As you approach Eris in the Tower, the text near her reads:

Eris Morn

Crota's Bane

My wife's dodgy eyesight initially combined the text, and somehow read, "Eris Bane, Crota's Mom". Since then, to us, she has always been referred to simply as "Crota's Mum", because I'm a simple man and it made me laugh. I just couldn't resist going with it, since I know you read some of the grimoire cards etc ;)

I don't know why she's called Crota's Bane, she and her team went on the Raid and immediately wiped, Crota's LOLs more like. In fact her Fireteam was so bad that a couple of them got taken out at that moonbase thing where it's mostly a bunch of level 6 dregs and vandals.

You douche. I trusted you. You know I'm desperately trying to piece together the epic space odyssey we're on.

It was bad enough you laughed when I explained what was thematically happening with the tablet in the Gologarth fight.

I was scribbling timelines last night trying to sort this out!

I really want the game to be epic...:(

Any particular recommendations for legendary marks (for a Warlock if it matters). I've got a Hung Jury and made my speeder purple. Bought some IB stuff when it was up (but trials won't be like that right?)

I'm about to hit a cap so though I might as before I spent on mats (or exotics to turn into shards)

And another question 3 of Coins on raid bosses? That's a chance for an extra exotic to drop right? It won't replace a raid drop?

Purple engrams from the cryptarch?

Start an alt and immediately buy some purple gear? (you wound't be able to wear it for a while)

I'm not sure how Trials gear can be bought.

Once you're over 310 exotic engrams decrypt at 310, so that helps with getting your legendaries up to snuff too.

Just to return to this point, it seems you're not actually guaranteed 310 exotic engrams once you're 311 or higher. Looks like there's something like a 90%* chance of an exotic being 310 if you're at that level, but people have definitely had 290s decrypt from yellow engrams when their character is 311 or over. Also, for clarification, you do have to be 311 or over, not 310.x or over (which is what I wrongly assumed 'over 310' to mean).

* Might not be 90% as not enough data has been evaluated, but there's a reasonable number of reports of 290 drops.

Put a thread up in the online folder, for Saturday night....

"In an unprecedented turn of events, I have found myself with what we call in Scotland "an empty" so looking to get a hard mode raid at least started.

I know we need a decent light level to kick off, I think I can get to 307 at the start (will need to double check, mibees can push one to a 308).

Looking for a 7 pm kick off."

Yep, I did mean 311. Typo :P

Everything I've decrypted since hitting 311 has been 310, but that's probably about 5 or so engrams. I'm holding onto some at the moment to see if this whole decrypting to 320 if you're 315+ is true or not.
