Although knowing how many helium fillaments you ended up with is useful, illustrative AND entertaining; may I ask one other questions, how long did it take? 528 sounds like more than I will do in a couple of evenings, even with nolanbot on my side.

So I guess I am asking how long 'forever' is, literally.

For anyone else doing that part of the exotic sword quest - get the revelant ghost, ADS with sniper to show the nodes in your instance, then move to another instance and do the same, then go back to the previous one. Far less painful :lol:

I need the solar sword.

6 more soliton flares will take "literally" forever.

Like I mentioned in a previous post, I started with 0 helium filaments, and when I got my 10th flare, I had (IIRC) 528 helium filaments. That is, on average, 1 flare for every ~53 HF's, and lets say I get 1.5 HF from every stash (sometimes 1, sometimes 2), so that's.... does maths.... one flare for every 35 stashes.

Of course, your results may vary considerably.

I started out with 3 HF, now up to 120 and I have 4 Soliton Flares. I doubt I'll be getting my solar sword this week unless we kill Oryx early tonight. It might happen :D

I followed Donut's advice. I got 4 flares in about 50 mins. It's a little random. I am annoyed it's helium filaments: I already have tonnes of those. Wish you could trade for the flares. I would actually like to grind for relic iron or spinmetal, such is the scarcity of those resources for me.

What class and light level are you Ben?

Also, do you have a decent rocket launcher and sniper?

As you're replacing ph0rce you'll be with me on top left platform for Warpriest fight. ????

Titan, 305 light.

I dont use rocket launchers other than in Crucible, rather use machine guns in PvE. Have a Black Hammer at 300.

Equip material finding ghost, equip sniper, bomb around on bike and look about with sniper, go to new area, do same, back to previous area, rinse repeat.

It took me about 10 days of 30 minute farming sessions. So about 5 hours probably. Gets boring after a while though, obviously. Events help relieve the monotony somewhat

Cool. If you go defender with blessings that means we'll have 2 of each bubbles to overlap. And black spindle will obvious help the dps

Don't worry, you'll get the chance to grind for Relic Iron if you take the Void Sword on an alt character, or Spinmetal if you take the Arc version.

My sword is 291 but I dont seem to have the Sword Reforged quest?

have you fully upgraded it? like all the perks etc. the quest didn't unlock for me until i'd done that.

also there's some weird thing going on at the Tower as of right now. Candles, bunting with engrams hanging off everything.

ha it's a halloween thing. you can get the thriller dance from Tess!

I'm ready to do the Solar Exotic sword quest thingamy!!

When grinding out the materials it's worth noting that chests don't count towards the chance of getting the drops. I ended up finding some helium filaments near the exit to an area, collecting them, jumping on my sparrow and zipping to the next area, turning around just after the text appeared and zipping back to the respawned materials, repeat. I think I got a drop rate of about 1 per 13 repeats or so.

I'm also needing to do the Solar Sword quest.

Tried last night with a pal but we got match made with a dude going for the Void sword. Meant we had to keep the Void Boomer alive too and it was too much. I'm slightly underlevelled as well at 298 so we gave up after 10 wipes or so. If we're all doing solar we can kill the other two elemental boomers and i'm sure that'd make it much more doable.

Quick q oryx - how mu h damage should we be doing at each phase?

Feels like we're barely doing 10 even with 4 things

between a quarter and a half per cycle. You need to keep one or two people shooting Oryx in the stomach whilst the other 4 people go and activate the black orbs otherwise his weak spot will close and you won't do any bonus damage to him
