Destiny: FIN

Trust me you need to aim as much as you do for a golden gun shot, you just get 6 or so shots instead of 3. Hammers also have travel time and can be shot, so unless you are in the same room as the sunbreaker they can be avoided if you are aware one is coming your way.

Oh I know this being a Titan Sunbreaker, however as a Gunslinger you have to literally aim (down sites) unless the guy you're shooting is close. That's what I meant, rather than "aim" with the cursor, but then a Sunbreaker cant aim down sites while in super anyway. If they could, expect far more complaints as they'd be far more accurate with their hammers

Also as Gorf says they need to do the opposite of Mayhem Clash, so no supers. The other abilities are fine, just remove supers for one game type.

Edit: LeChuck, you will get killed by splash damage if you were too close to the explosion, especially if the guy specced into Forgemaster which every PvP Titan will do. The splash damage drop-off from where the hammer lands is a tad bit low, as if it was otherwise the subclass wouldn't be much cop at crowd controlling adds in PvE.

You can also spec for max armour and equip a chest piece with even more armour for a particular subclass to avoid getting killed by splash damage. Hammer of Sol only insta kills if its a direct hit.

That's not really addressing the issue though, is it? Because anyone can do that.

I don't really mind Sunbreakers being able to fling up to 7 hammers that will instakill you if they hit you - it's a bit over the top, but hey. I also don't mind Sunbreakers getting a massive armour boost that means they take 2 of your 3 GG shots to put down - it's a bit over the top, but hey. What I do mind is that this super has both. I think it's undeniably a bit broken.

As for saying 'you have to aim them' - well, yes, up to a point. But you have to aim GG shots too, and if you miss, there's no splash damage at all. And you have no extra superarmour like the Sunbreaker. And you have only up to 3 shots (4 if you have the helmet and forsake other perks on other armour). It just loses out in every respect.

I'd certainly like to see at least one no-super variant, just to have a PvP activity that relies on shooting action only (which pure shooteriness I'd be crap at - which is why I'd like the variant to be objective-based, like a variant of Control). I wouldn't want to take them out of the main PvP activities per se, though.

Apart from Trials and obviously Mayhem are there any PvP modes that are better with supers? Rumble/Clash are just Mayhem with less supers so could lose them easily. Salvage, Skirmish and Control would be better without them imo. How about Rift do they make that any better? I'd say not...

Imagine a warlock able to throw multiple novabombs until his super runs out. Would you say that would be overpowered? Because that's essentially what the Sunbreaker can do.

Imagine a Titan or a Hunter who gets an overshield just for slapping someone.

And besides, you can happily arc a Novabomb over walls on several maps and take people out without warning. They should probably nerf that, right?

Again. No. I was instakilled by a hammer hitting the wall opposite me, not directly at me.

I feel like I'm being bearded now.

Did you read that bit in my post about speccing the correct armour?

Actually the Sunbreaker can gain an Overshield, when they stand in a sunspot (perfectly still, and not able to move or lose said overshield, so its purely a PvE perk). They have to give up Cauterize as well to do so, which would be suicidal in Crucible.

Sadly Lechuck, you just got killed as normal in Crucible by a super. Its not the problem with the Sunbreaker, as other classes could have done the same (I've actually been killed around a corner by a voidblast from a Voidwalker, and even behind cover).

The problem is the damage resistance that a Sunbreaker has.

Anyway, we should put this behind us, as its just clogging up the thread now.

All it takes is a super or grenade to shut any Super down, though. Everything has a counter.

No. Because you only get one, and it takes some skill to pull that off.

Skill. OK. Once you're used to how to deal with Sunbreakers you'll probably stop moaning about it

Anyway, I'm sick of going over the same shit too. Enough!

I really hope they don't nerf the tirtan sunbreaker's super until people have had more time with PvP. I do think they should take splash damage from their own hammers though.

The palpatine warlock in this game is so good. Melee, grenade, melee, grenade. If you chan kills it's infinite. With the right armour perks you could have an insane build.

Hunter, in the hands of skilled players, is gonna be monstrous.

The titan has... His super and movement. That's it. Grenades are OK. Melee is a joke.

Oh you two. And yeah, outside the super, the sunbreaker really doesnt have a lot. Although you make use of the tools that you have, and I do ok.

Anyway, I need to do that exotic sword strike thing at some point for the void exotic sword. Does anyone else need that for it? Preferably the same element, as keeping more than one alive is a bit of a ballache, however I dont mind running it more than once.

Don't get me started again on those fucking Sunbreakers. Some may find this the funniest shit they'll read this week (;)), but I stand by my comment that Sunbreakers just have to throw a hammer in your general direction for an instakill.

Last night I was in a skirmish match, and I was around the corner from a Sunbreaker - he threw a hammer at the wall opposite. Dead.

If it was a good rocket launcher, I'd understand. But it wasnt. The kill zone on those hammers is way too big, and it's that which needs to be nerfed.

I've killed sunbreakers by just hand cannoning them as they've missed me with their hammers. I bet that's pretty annoying for them :)

As an aside, how many hammers do they get?

Depends how quickly they throw them, and what they spec for. 5-7 maybe? There's a bar counting down all the time you have your super up, and a Hammer throw drops it faster.

As a Titan, often Sunbreaker, I do think the OP-ness of it is overstated.

Are there any earlyish raids going on tonight that I could glom onto?

Check on-line destiny folder. If you can't find any I am finally back in London tomorrow and will try to assemble a little something from 10 for those without a social life. I will ping you an invite if I see you online. :hat:

Thanks for hammer facts :)

The hunter has the best jump though, obviously. Bones of Eao makes it even better too...

Problem with bones is it's a crutch. As soon as you move charas you end up sucking at jumping/ don't know the proper routes in raid and so on. I'm done with them.

Boolean Gemini + Better control on a Titan in Crucible says otherwise. Hello dodge boosting. Was doing that the other night on that black garden pvp map. I felt I really could dodge bullets.

Also I've forgot to switch melee's in Crucible a few times and left Melting Point on by mistake. It kills people with one punch with the damage over time. I literally melted people's faces off with my punch

I can think of no other experience in gaming which can compared to disintegrating a blade dancer with lighting (and his nearby buddies for getting involved). Except maybe this:

Slapping a sword n00b is pretty high up the list...

Whats all this about hunters should use 1 gg shot to stop a titan? It should be all 3 like how a warlock has to use the whole super to shut one down!
