Destiny: FIN

well that's one grimm article. also makes a ton of sense and seems very plausible. Biggest deal here is the engine and tool issues and not the already known story kerfuffle. i really hope that's either exaggerated or a lie. i would really want bungie to get this game to where it should be. but this game still needs a lot more content tbh.

I agree with the last paragraph in that I find it amazing after all the problems, they shipped a game as good as it was.

well foundation was still amazing. gun feel, player movement, ai, rendering, etc. but what a weird development story this must be either if this one is true or whatever variant.

Supposedly, according to a playtester, the Traveller and his BFF the Speaker were secretly eeeeeevil in the original version of the story. There's concept art labelled inside the Traveller that looks like what ended up being the Black Garden, which lends credence to this. I'm guessing that largely unexplained thing you destroy at the end of the vanilla release was meant to be the Traveller's heart and also explains why the location doesn't look anything like Mars. Let's face it there's no way they went to the expense of getting Bill Nighy in for the two or three sentences the Speaker has in the game, would love to hear his cut dialogue.

What I found really interesting is that pretty much all the DLC (including TTK) is mostly made up of stuff that was cut from the original release. I don't doubt Bungie have had to do a lot of work to add to it, but will be interesting to see what we get when they run out of stuff to salvage and start making genuinely 'new' stuff. Also interested to see what the Transformers devs bring to the table (I assumed they'd already contributed to TTK but sounds like they're off doing stuff for future releases).

Aye, it was actually quite easy, that Nightfall, even with two. And that was a good drop - I'd quite like a 308 helmet please, Mr RNG. Might have to do it again on another character.

Thanks for the Atheon checkpoint. If anyone 'fancies' Atheon tomorrow night, preferably early, before 8, then let us know. It took us about a minute to kill him tonight - he should go down in one round - so I expect that'll be easy if we can get 5 or 6 together. I expect the later bits of the quest will be harder, but hopefully we'll get them done tomorrow night too.

Sort of: Quiver currently, temporarily, only has one arrow. Ie: don't spec Quiver just yet. Once Quiver is fixed, they'll return its correct behaviour. (Basically, similar to how they fixed Black Hammer back when.)

Ah - I was wondering why that was happening.

Pretty irritating way of implementing a fix by breaking the super (albeit temporarily) for those of us who were happy with just the 3 arrows

If you'd played any Iron Banner over the past week, 3 arrows just simply wasn't enough for most Hunters,

Dunno about the voice work - they went to the expense of having Nathan Filllion and Gina Torres too and then had them say virtually nothing in the vanilla release.

I suspect the VO contracts were signed and sealed before the story got the radical overhaul - hence all these big names in place with no actual content for them to voice.

Citation needed.

I did play some Iron Banner - enough to get to rank 5 on three characters - and never saw the exploit used once in any match. I'm absolutely sure it did get used (and in fact someone here on rllmuk said they'd used it), so maybe I just got lucky throughout all those hours of play. But it did need fixing quickly even if a small minority was doing the dirty. Having said that, I think there's a bit of hyperbole and overreaction here. I wonder, had Bungie bluntly removed all but one of the hammer throws from Titans to fix that class's exploit, if you'd be taking the same line as you seem to here - that the nerf is fair*, and that most Titans are cheats?

* It obviously needs to be fixed quickly, but if this rush job lasts months like the similar 'fix' to the Black Hammer perk did, it might cripple that subclass for the next few rounds of Trials/Iron Banner. Not that it'll affect me, as I'm not a fan of the Nightstalker in PvP and wouldn't have used it anyway. But then, I didn't much like playing as Hammer Dude either.

The Titan exploit got quickly and rightly fixed too, same for any exploit in any game - it ruins the game for everyone else playing and its in Bungie's best interest to get them nailed as soon as possible, or they'll start losing players. I jumped on yesterday evening in an attempt to finish off one of the weekly bounties. I heard a hell of a lot Shadow shots being fired, certainly more than 3 at a time. A quick check of their setup was all that was needed to confirm what they were up to. There were plenty of red-barred indestructible types about too. It was pretty much pointless, zero-fun stuff. I'm sure they'll get it in line with how it was designed before Trial rolls around - they've been pretty quick to fix stuff of late.

As an aside, my hate for Hunters is purely down to their stupid bouncy jumps, btw. :)

Only just had chance to read that. Bit worrying really, especially as it looks like they wont be giving us any new raids until 2016 (when Destiny 2 comes out) if that article and the Eververse Trading stuff are anything to go by.

I thought it was widely known that there are now no DLC's until Destiny 2 next September? I hope they have kept enough bonus material locked away in the TTK to keep us going but I suspect its going to be pretty barren on the content front next year as they concentrate so much on the next game. I wonder how much effort it would be to Taken'ize the VoG and CE raids...

Managed to pick up the Grasp of Malock from Omnigul farming at the weekend folks & I'd recommend you guys try to grab it too as its a beast in both PVE & PVP. It does way more damage than the impact suggests.

Grabbed the new exotic pulse, 310 truth (NF) & 310 hereafter (Oryx) from a couple hours on last night - I swear my hunter is blessed with better RNG.

I wonder whether we might get another raid partway through the year. Doubt it, but as nice as the current dripfeed of quests is they can't possibly keep that pace up for an entire year, they'll need more substantial content as the months roll by.

And much as I love these weekly exotic quests, I do think they need to start mixing up what they offer a bit more. You can only equip one at a time after all, and I've already got plenty of options for basically any given situation. Was playing with a couple of guys last night who haven't hit the game quite so hard and can't get a raid team together. They're hungry for purples, not yellows, but have already outlevelled the stuff that drops from the main questlines. If they had some hidden surprise quest that dropped a 300 Ghost or something it'd be good, I think.

Gonna be a hell of an armsday today - was low on glimmer last week so only ordered one gun from the gunsmith, but I've got the next step of First Curse and Arc Sword coming, Am close to gunsmith rank three on my Hunter, and am pretty sure I have some other bits I've forgotten about too. Only did the Paradox ghosts yesterday but hoping the quest will tick over at reset too.

Impressed by how Bungie have made Wednesday exciting. We had reset Tuesday, Xursday and Trials Friday, it's nice to have something to look forward to in between.

How many runs did it take? I gave up after about 20, I want the thing desperately but not that much (maybe if they patch Omnigul to be 3oC-compatible). Jimtendo's been doing it for about a fortnight too with no drop.

I think both guns have the same impact, but that's probably where the similarities end. It looks good.

The two guns feel different to me (albeit after limited use).

Nirwens is a bit more stable but potentially with lower impact. Also seems to have less range. The, err, other weapon has some interesting perks that I think will make it more of a PVE weapon. Bit too much muzzle flash though. Makes precision shots in PVP harder to land.

Nightfall gave me 4th Horseman at 310, which I can infuse so kinda pleased.

Primary Exotic from Golgorath gave me The Last Word 310 and three of my fellow raiders got x 2 of those and 1 Hawkmoon from the chest near the large thrusting metal phalluses.

Shame the boots I got were 300 :( but an all round good evening.

And also were you killing Omnigul before she goes up the hill and wiping or doing the level over and over?

Is Banshee-44 offering any good weapons for order today?

I'll stick up DestinyDB's thoughts on that when I see it.

I was quite chuffed by the end of play yesterday. I went from 296 to a comfortable 302 with an armour drop and sniper rifle from the raid, then a 310 artifact from a quest :) Then I popped 4 exotic engrams and got a 310 Hawkmoon, 310 Telesto, 310 Empyrean Bellicose and my 3rd set of Ruin Wings but at 310 (worse perks though).

After being very static in drops and level for 2 weeks now it felt very good!
