Really hoping that IB Pulse isn't the new Thorn, as I was looking forward to Trials :(

Nah, it's not that bad - not OP really, just the best at what it does. More like the new Hawkmoon, I suppose: arguably the best example of the strongest weapon class. Besides, there are other viable weapons in the same class, and other classes might suit more. But I think that was applicable in Thorn's day myself - I ended up preferring MIDA.

Played three games, got the day's bounties done, won the final game to cash in a load of loss medals and dinged rank four.

Went back to the tower and bought the class item, handed in the dailies, then the weekly that needed rank four for completion. Hit rank five immediately, bought the pulse rifle, removed class item, emblem and shader and solemnly scrapped them all. I've never liked Iron Banner much but this week has just been absolutely miserable. Never again (unless the armour's real good) (maybe the sniper) (oh fuck)

I gave the gun to my alt warlock just to see if that last match was a fluke. A 293 Nirwen's Mercy dropped for him - with an increased stability perk instead of third eye. :lol:

I take it the 3rd column still had all the ways of increasing stability as well. Its the main reason I was put off buying it in the first place, the lack of options in that 3rd row.

I've also heard that the drops for it are worse than the vendor option. I doubt I'll find out as the IB drop rare is ridiculously low. Will have to buy it most likely.

We failed on Oryx, know the method but just couldn't get it together - one player (who dropped out) has very low power snipers and heavy and was getting spanked by the ogres, shame but its another great boss.

It better news I finished the IB and got the pulse, the bond and sidearm dropped so for very little outlay a good haul - much cheaper than year one IB loot ;)

Only tried the pulse unlevelled thus far but its no Red death at the moment - do the perks make a big difference?

The raid pulse rifle appears to be decent as well. I was getting murdered by one guy who was really good with it.

It has noticeable, but entirely vertical kick. It can be controlled by pushing thumbstick down. Which you wont be able to do in a 50/50, but is possible when you have the drop on someone. It is most effective for me when landing a headshot with the first bullet. Three burst kills, at crazy range.

Stats wise, it matches red death, but has nearly twice the range. But that vertical kick is cumbersome. If you like hawksaw, with its insane sideways and up kick, you might prefer the smite of merain or wotevs it's called.

Nope - those perks are all range-extending. It ends up with better range and reload, but less stability than my vendor version. (But it has the hidden Counterbalance option, so it might be just as stable in practice for all I know.)

Did the raid earlier and got a rather amazing loot haul from Oryx - Chest, helm, pulse rifle (with firefly) and scout (with full auto). And of course the relic and the raid portion of the ToM quest. Best drops I think I've had in Kings Fall. Well pleased.

Still, I think I'll actually jump for joy if a Ghost drops mind.

What I liked about iron banner this time around.... Not feeling the need to run with 3 characters to get the etheric light.

Did the hunter just to get the cloak, went back to titan as i had some questy stuff to finish off, got rank 5 in jig time.

Bought both guns, got used to using the vanguard pulse with headseeker and full auto he was selling, didnt feel the IB one felt any better, i always ended up burst firing the full auto out of habit anyway, but, i will give it a whirl.

I quite like the raid pulse for taken baddies, but I would prefer it with the firefly perk people talk about..... Everything is better with firefly!

Oh, the hereafter... What a fucking noise that makes, amazeballs, used it for a bit in iron banner, its pretty damn guid.

Snap. I had boots drop, but no weapons. Last time iron banner was around the game was throwing weapons at me.

I never got that lucky, the wean got the titan tea towel before she bought one, I got nothing at all. The whole time I played, one guy got a wolfshead cloak thing.

I saw more drops in the old iron banner.

Of course, having reread it... It was only going to drop the stuff he was selling anyway, so, no real incentive when you hit rank 5 to continue.

Is the raid fusion rifle any good? A 307 version dropped for me the other day, and I don't want to be hasty, but it feels like I'd be better off fusing it into a sniper rifle at the moment. Is it worth keeping it?

It's complete shite. I still would not infuse it until you get a second one on account of cocoon and taken damage. I fed mine to 100 yard Stare. Snipers are most useful in the raid I feel. I am still trying to figure out what fusion rifles are good for generally. But the ones with long charge times are specially pointless.

The drops in Iron Banner this time round have been terrible for me too. I hit rank 5 yesterday and had to buy the cloak, boots and pulse rifle (I don't like sidearms). The whole time playing I seen 2 pairs of boots drop (in the same game), and one other person got a sidearm. I got one legendary engram for gloves out of the entire run.

I came out as soon as I hit Rank 5, bought the Pulse Rifle and jumped into the daily. Split Shifter Pro dropped. I know it's all RNG but there has to be more focus on rewarding the top players in events like IB. My 8 year old has played about 10 games in Iron Banner, and finishes in the bottom 3 almost every time and he's had better drops than me.

He had a great weekend for drops. He bough the Hereafter from Xur and finished doing the House of Wolves missions so I helped him through a 28 PoE, used his treasure key and he got an Ice Breaker along with the Rocket Launcher from the Queen. He also got an Apple of Dischord, Down and Doubt, 293 Last Extremity (with firefly), FWC Helmet and Chest, Dont Touch Me (from a 3oC drop) and is now up to 277 light. He's not finished the TTK missions, I'm trying to get him through it all in the right order so he's got a better grasp of it all. He's getting there, almost 40 hours in now. I might be hitting up an Xbox raid crew for a slot soon, get him some shit raid gear :lol:

No leaving the house, seeing friends, allowance, or dinner until he sorts that out. More Iron B son! Homework can wait. He needs at least a couple of top three finishes. Just yell at him the whole time: Do it! Focus! ;)

Almost every time, he actually finished top in one game though his team lost, he even managed a 1.0 kd with 14 kills:

He came running through to tell me last night that he had came top in his team, he was delighted with himself! In a few years he's going to be one of those little fuckers you hate, 12 years old with cat like reflexes running riot in multiplayer. He can stay on Xbox :lol:
