Iron Banner, ran as a 287 with Thorn... I LIKES IT!

Yes, still does a decent job, was using it with my titan striker to get to rank 3 (nearly there).

If you liked it before, give it a try, I had few issues after the hand cannon nerf from the last time anyway, and dropping from a 304 to the 287, only real noticeable thing was sometimes my shoulder charge didnt one hit kill them... But, there were some red bars.

I rarely aim down site with Thorn, mibee thats key to its awesomesauce

Going for a quest objective fucked me over more than the use of the gun.

Depends very much what range you are better at in the first instance. Scouts are better at longer range encounters. Hand cannons work better at mid to close range. You want to force the encounters to happen at the range that suits your weapon.

Tlaloc is more of a self-rez sunsinger weapon. As a stormcaller I feel you want to quickly close in on as many people as possible once you get your super and use it quickly so you can start filling the meter back up.

Aye, considering my Herja-D is nearly identical, but with less stability, and no Third Eye, I can see if being the gun to have for Crucible. Worth infusing up to 310+ for Trials too.

The Herja-D is absolutely nothing like Nirwen's Mercy. Trust me, i have both and they are worlds apart.

Infusing is the way forward spags. Find things you like the look and feel of and then infuse the shit out of them. After 295 and 298 you need to start feeding them raid gear. Game wants you to infuse. Much more choice now as compared to year 1.

Gah morning playing IB...pretty much every opposite team had two to three people with connection issues stomping us. Lost 5 in a row.

Amusingly when their connections were sorted we absolutely dominated them for a while, but the problems came back :(

Fuck me, Nirwen's Mercy is a monster. An absolute monster. I've been having shocker after shocker this IB, barely competing at all, having completely lost what little mojo I had gained by the end of year one. None of the weapons feel right (I'm still mourning my MIDA and some of the hand cannons), and I've ended up with a horrible negative KD and poor scores all round. Nothing has just felt right at all.

Then I hit rank 5, bought Nirwen's, and immediately played a game where I couldn't stop headshotting people, multikilling like a mofo, and ended up top of the board with a 4.4 KD, completing that last weekly bounty just a little too late. Firing this gun feels somehow wrong - just fundamentally too good to be true. It's as smooth as arsenic-laced butter, and twice as deadly - especially if you apply it to the head. And you don't seem able to apply it to anywhere but the head. It's just a death magnet.

So that's my IB success story for this year. I ruled! Admittedly only for one game - and probably against crap opponents - until everyone else gets the gun. Because just about everyone else who's mediocre is going to use it, trust me. As well as many who are actually good. And then I'll be crap again.

I think Bungie have just made another Thorn.

I've seen a surprisingly high number of people using Last Word and Thorn in this Iron Banner. They're still pretty effective.

I'm 3/4 of the way to Rank 4, having played 3 games this morning to complete today's dailies. I've done all three weekly bounties, so I'm guaranteed rank 5, I think. Pulse rifle will be mine.

Right! I'm a raid virgin and I'm having difficulty getting into one and i'm stuck at 295 light (warlock). I'm trying to get a Hunter up to scratch but that may take time. If anyone would like to help me/invite me to a raid (any of them really) that would be fab! My PSN handle is Bulletzen. I'm an older gamer (43) and as far as I know I'm not an arsehole and I just bought a cheap pair of headphones and mic, which I understand is essential for a raid.

Yeah, I get how infusion works - I think I just want to be at end of year two now with loads of weapon and gear options to choose between...I just got the Wolf Cloak from IB so at least my cloak game is tight. And now Gorf has me chasing that pulse rifle too.

I did have an amazing run with Jade Rabbit on the church map, seems the range on that map turns you into some demonic Monty Python monster murdering everything in site. Up close tho you may as well be throwing bunnies at people.

Any good shotguns I should be infusing my Raid shotty into?

Damnit Gorf, now I have to buy it, and after I spent the majority of my marks on new gear for my warlock.

I gave the gun to my alt warlock just to see if that last match was a fluke. A 293 Nirwen's Mercy dropped for him - with an increased stability perk instead of third eye. :lol:

I don't have the shotgun but I think you should probably keep that one. been killed by it a lot. for pve i really like the dead orbit shotgun but may just be the perks. mine has battle runner.
