If they wanted to test the waters, then they'd presumably just ask players through a focus group or a survey, rather than hide an object in the code, wait for it to get datamined, and then examine twitter or the Bungie.net forums or something.

An Activision conspiracy seems unnecessary given Bungie's habit of cutting stuff out of their own games.

I played a 95% complete build of TTK in August and those raid buffs were in the game. Can't remember what currency they were bought with but you got them from the Speaker, not Tess, which suggests they were with in-game currency instead of Silver.

I spoke to Luke Smith (clang, sorry) ten days ago and asked him what happened to them (as well as the Cryptarch's corrupted engrams, which functioned similarly to Gunsmith test weapons) and he just said they were bad bugs found in cert which they decided to kill as it was so late in the day. If I had to guess I'd say that's why they've been found in the database. Said they might bring them back but hadn't even talked about it yet.

My thoughts on the consumables (in bold), based on Ben's post.

So yes, some are fine, but those raid ones, if true, are appalling. It'll be rather galling seeing someone on your team getting showered in new armour and weapons purely because they paid, despite the whole team having put the effort in. It goes against, to the point of undoing, all the good work Bungie has done with the King's Fall raid.

Isn't that Ben just assuming they'll be microtransactions though? Pretty sure Bungie actually said microtransactions will be for cosmetic items only.

Don't really get 'Nightfall's broken' either. Motes of Light are far better than the XP buff ever was, tbh. It's just a means to get extra rewards. They're nowhere near as hard as the old NFs, with the possible exception of the first minute of the SABER strike.

"Consumable items are non returnable" according to the returns page of the Eververse store. Wonder what cosmetic consumables they're planning on selling.

What's wrong with the Nightfall?

I know some of the brutal difficulty has gone now they've added checkpoints, but most of the the old ones people were cheesing (I fucking hate that expression) anyway. Now they are reasonably challenging strikes with some interesting modifiers, and you're guaranteed some loot. I had a great time doing this weeks, and our team ended up with a Jade Rabbit, a Truth and a bundle of 3oC, i'd hardly call that pointless.

Things along the lines of those pumpkins from halloween last year? I remeber they were all the rage in our VOG attempts for a while...

Sounds like you were lucky. Best reward I've ever had from a nightfall since year 2 is a legendary fusion rifle. Big whoop.

Or an extra 5 marks for 10 or so motes and a Telemetry.

I got 2 exotics from one run this week thanks to Three of Coins. 2, both at 310 too! RUBBISH. Fuck this game.

I just wish they would stop introducing more currencies in to the game.

I have calcified fragments I need to get to earn my Touch of Malice. Then I have to find Hadium Flakes to level it up, all while swimming in bloody worm spore. Why not have one Dreadnaught currency, one Mars currency, Venus, etc? Do they really want people spending time farming for these materials? I guess the answer is yes if you look to the exotic Sword quest (which by all accounts is a nightmare farming mission at one stage).

Added to the above we now have Three of Coins. Im convinced this was a way to get people to spend their excess strange coins. We all bought a load and keep popping them, and now we realise we should have been waiting until we were above 300 (because of the chance to get 310's dropping at this point). Im not exactly swimming in coins anymore, and now it seems like they have tweaked it to make it a little harder to find them. Cant be a simple coincidence.

Oh look, a new item from Xur that allows me to re-roll armour! Surprise!!

In what capacity were you speaking to him?

Good news though, thanks for posting :)

That's still a crap reward for the effort put in, especially when compared to the daily crucible reward for just taking part. But this argument is silly now.

Yeah, I've had exotics from it. Like everything else in the game, it's random. Some people seem to forget this and it doesn't mean you'll randomly get an exotic each time, just that you'll get *something*, whether it's 8 strange coins or Oryx's lawnmower

I really enjoyed my first nightfall. But the rewards of 2 low level blues and 12 strange coins didn't feel like a good return on time/effort investment compared to alternatives.

The second was better, if unspectacular, but then rng is rng.

Is there any plan to expand the strike playlist to include some of the ones (seemingly) not in it?

In you learned gentlemen's opinions, is the best way to try and farm weapons and ToC drops still the Heroic Strikes, even after you've run your three with rewards for the week? I finally hit 300 on Monday, and with a couple of 310 drops (Crest of Alpha Lupi, which was promptly fed to my Alchemist's Raiment, and Telesto, which I fucking love) and successful Raids I'm already at about 304, but i could use a few more good drops to improve my options, and am also in real need of some weapon parts (so I can infuse/upgrade the Hung Jury I stupidly waited to buy until yesterday).

Random cunts unable to capture one of their two bases when I am singlehandedly defending C for well over two minutes. Also, the Iron Marathon quest does not count leaving as a loss. Expect a ton of quitters come end of IB.

To answer your question, I left after we also lost C. Fuck my incompetent team mates.

Just had to quit an Iron Banner match after some random cunt just sat back at C spawn when we only had one point instead of pushing for a second cap. Looks like he got a few kills but ffs if the other team wants to push for a back-cap, flip the spawns, hand us A and give us a shot at getting B in the confusion, then let them. Fuck my incompetent teammates.

A quick heads-up to those iron-bannering - if you have any losers medallions from last time you might want to delete them as they didn't count for me.

I had 3 from last time and it took me 5 fucking attempts to win my first match (you know a team is in trouble when I'm the top scorer). When I finally won one, it only cashed in 2 medallions. So it seems the old 3 were clogging up the inventory for no good reason.

Anybody who is at gunsmith rank 5, pls do not make my mistake: when you get the gunsmith gun, you only need to infuse it to 260-270 ish. Then if you look at it, you can unlock a perk to get the infusion part of it ticked off....

Do not waste more weapons on it infusing it to 288 like I did /facepalm

Edit - for the last curse quest, this.

I had that on 2 games last night. Rather then go for B on Pantheon, they decided to keep splitting up and running aimlessly around the sides to get mowed down.
