Aye, the new raid RNG seems a lot like the old raid RNG - in fact, a bit more VoG than Crota. I've had the ghost three times now, and the cloak twice. But only one piece of armour has ever dropped. You wouldn't expect to never get duplicates, but it doesn't really seem to be a system that's all that heavily weighted in favour of items you've not had already.

Unless... it's just chance, because RNG. Could be! Could be.

Yeah, getting the same item twice in the same run just sounds plain broken to me. I know, RNG etc but its likely to put just as many people off even bothering if that keeps happening.

The problem they have is you have three layers of RNG for loot.

First one is obviously do you get something or not.

Second one is what light level it is.

Third is the perks on the item.

Now, I got a ghost in my first run but it was only light 300. Much better than the 284 one I had but others in the group got one at 310. I don't want a system that's now weighted against me getting another with light 310. Even when I get one at 310 I'd like more to drop with better stats or for use with infuse.

I'd much rather get something than nothing. I beat Oryx last night and just got a ghost at 300 and 2 shards. I'm not bitter as I want to have some stuff left in the game to chase next week. However, I hope in a month or two I have everything at least once even if the roll is bad. I'm still upset I never had a VoC after doing that loads of times.

Moved up from 254 to 277 light in the course of an evening, just need to break the 280 and I'll be happy.

Thanks for your help on the Daily. We managed to get through the Nightfall okay. You would have been fine as it was relatively straight-forward.

The raid loot items dropping the same thing with lower light level is pretty sucky. I was hoping it was going to be clever enough to give you a drop of equal or higher light level once you had something. Last night I got another 2 chest pieces (300 and 302 light) both lower than the 307 one I was already wearing - At least I can boost an alt with them I guess.

I've managed to fall between the gaps on the Raid and the groups that formed to do it, probably due to the timing of me being away two weeks ago. Last night there were six teams doing runs in my friends list, all regular teams as they started the raid together and obviously enjoy and want to perfect their runs together. The two times I've managed to get an attempt it was with teams cobbled together and we've not finished it...so now I can't really join any n00b teams either. Pretty damn frustrating and I'm tempted to just sack this raid off.

Never thought vacationing would exact such a heavy toll on my loot acquisition ;)

Another quickie q - the buff from subsequent strikes, is that increasing the chance of drops (i.e. amount) or just the chance for the same amount of drops to be higher quality?

I'm at light 292 and not sure how best to progress. Ideally I think I'd try and raid (assuming I can rustle up chums) but I really need more practice at not being terrible I think before potentially holding 5 people back :)

Light aint nofink but a number y'all after all.

It's seeming remarkably easy to get into a routine - log in, collect bounties, do dailies, do patrol bounty, log off - for very minimal progression. But fun is still had.

I'm finding Destiny is good for regular small doses - after 2 hours or so I'm normally ready for a break/stop (which is often the time I start thinking so what DO I do now?)

Did Court of Oryx last night with randos. Managed to get tier 3 down for minimal fuss/rewards.

Also did the stage of the Exotic Sword quest where you have to kill a Sword of Oryx with it. Bit of a challenge to get to - how did people work out how to do that?

In my opinion the raid loot system is fixed by the infusion system. I am confused by the amount of negative comments here. I got the fusion again last night. But what does it matter I now have a 300 1000 yard stare which is a brilliant sniper, if I get it next week, I will have a 300 something dead orbit shotgun (which I love) and then a 300 plus susanoo (which I love). Along the way on those multiple runs I will get one or two things I don't have and want to keep like the sniper for example. I don't want to rush to get everything and never use any of it like I ended up doing with Crota. I am getting new toys every week and slowly having fun with each one. Every time I run the raid I end up a slightly higher level with the gear I actually like AND get new toys. I wonder if the negative opinion is general or just a few people.

For the most part the raid weapons don't seem anywhere near as powerful as the year 1 counterparts (especially as you need to also get a decent roll on them) and I'll be just using most of them for infusion but I'd still like to be able to collect them all and with the way the game rains blues/purples at you in the court of Oryx it would at least be nice to get some loot from running the raid rather than crappy shards. Heck, I think all raid chests should at least spit a few blues out for you.

Thing is, with the Nightfall now being utterly pointless, it doesn't really matter.

It is really more about crucible now. So I have been more than pleased with getting things I can feed to my good crucible gear. It was a mistake to make VoG weapons so much better than anything else because at some point everyone was running around with the same weapons (except for Vision of Confluence... that was shit) :eyebrows:

I'm in a similar position, dipping in and dipping outbof groups. Would love to find regulars but can't commit to late night raids just yet.

Capp, how about organising a Saturday day time one?

The game rains engrams at CoO? Not for me :(

The infusion system is weird. Well the overall effect might be the same - but getting an new item that's an upgrade and getting an item that's a higer level, dismantling it for parts, then combining with another dismantaled item to power up your existing item feel very different (based on my 292 none raid experience!)

It would work if it were the "booby prize". A route to level up even when you don't get the drops you want, but at the moment it seems to be the main way people are leveling up - rather than the consolation prize.

Nah don't be silly. It will all settle down soon and you'll be up and raiding. Particularly when people start geting through the raid quicker and with multiple characters. Teams will begin falling apart, people getting frustrated, friendships ending over missed appointments and better loot drops. Just jump in when someone misses a night and start talking shit about them behind their back. Start rumors and pin them against each other. Try to make stuff up that has a bit of truth to it so it has more impact. Also feel free to make shit up completely at random. You will then pick and choose who you want to raid with from the carcasses of what used to be a merry raid crew or real life friends. :hat:

Oh look, another quest with insane amounts of Splash Damage as its main ingredient, well done Bungie.

edit: I do not know if we are talking about the same thing here, but the Quest on Earth was available with me being Rank 3 with the Gunsmith. Completed the quest, received a transmitter that asks for a code.

I know that feeling, but if I can manage to rustle up a group of people at a weekend I am sure you can get enough interest somewhere in the week. Especially if it is something like Tuesday and Wednesday 8-10pm, and maybe something over the weekend. You know, for people who cannot really do late raids.

*cough*

The raid weapons are nowhere near as good as the VoG or Crota Weapons.

Everyone slates the KF fusion rifle, but it helped me get my Black Spindle, Dat extra Taken damage.

They're all pretty much infusion fodder though.

Keep moving, then!

I hope how level affects Iron B is really granular. One shot of a 310 jade rabbit into a 180 helmet should result in a guardian decapitation (ala fallout) and the word "LOL" appearing on the match feed.
