What a great raid Kings Fall is; it felt great to finally beat it and only the last fight gave us a few nights of frustration, the rest of it all felt fair with really well thought out mechanics. The last battle suddenly goes from feeling impossible to feeling totally doable and straightforward once it clicks... feels really odd when that happens!

I managed to walk away with the pulse rifle with firefly which is exactly what I said I wanted so am mega chuffed - bit of a crappy damage roll at 303 but I'll take it :P

I'm looking forward to the reset and seeing how fast we can get through everything now and to test out my black spindle on it!

A pulse rifle with firefly????!!! I.. MUST... HAVE.... IT...

Xur is really being a cunt about new weapons isn't he. I want to have fun! but it's like they are forcing me to farm 3 of coins. He either only has year two versions of old shit or nothing at all! FUCK! Go back to the nine and tell them to fuck off you worm face motherfucker!

I am just buying motes and donating to the good people of dead orbit. They've been good to me.

There, leChuck made me buy the Bad Juju. I was never fond of it (during vanilla), but I honestly used it once or twice before putting it in the vault. Time to correct that whilst dropping Supers like their hot.

Edit: how is Bad Juju still a thing  No reloading and my Super recharges every 30 seconds. Talk about overpowered.

God damn it Xur. The one weekend I go away and you are selling the one piece of armour I have been after for my Titan - Immolation Fists.

Why can't he even hang around until Sunday night? Woe is me.

Get someone you trust to log in as you and buy them?

So what's up with three of coins now, how many coins per engram?

I've got no exotic primary so is Bad JuJu the way to go? Especially for supers and raid?

Is Suros good now?

Need to burn my 150 marks.

I would go with the dead orbit scout which is the most universally acclaimed new weapon and would not take your exotic spot. Also very handy to have for the raid. If you are looking at something for crucible the answer is difficult as there is no consensus at the moment about what's best and it would seem to be heavily dependent on your play-style and preference. I would say personally in terms of year two versions of old exotics that the best ones are red death and bad juju.

Yeah that's the other point for Baring as well. They might sell that Suros real soon given Xur's obvious bias to year two versions of old exotics. I would not get anywhere near that exotic blueprint kiosk if I were you.

Yeah I'm not a fan of them removing the weekly weapon at all. I've not had any year 2 primary exotics from the three nightfalls I've done or the whopping two primary engrams dropped from the three of coin farming (compared to the countless chest and helmet ones). Not a chance I'll be wasting money on that helmet engram as it's virtually guaranteed I'll get yet another Helm of Inmost Light on Insurmountable Skullfort.

I bought this the other day because my marks were almost maxed out and forgot how ridiculous it is. Seems like you can fill up your super within ten seconds if there's a group of weaker enemies to kill. How has this not been nerfed by the "no fun allowed" lot at Bungie?

Obviously it's random, but I've done just fine with 3oC, just popping one at the beginning of a strike or story mission and seeing what happens. I did the Neverending Battle quest step for five strikes in the baby Vanguard playlist yesterday on my Titan, five coins got me two engrams. I'll take the feeling of seeing a boss explode in a shower of purple and gold, then the Christmas morning buzz of the subsequent Cryptarch visit, over just getting annoyed with Xur every week for the rest of all time.

I'm mostly with Nate, I reckon. I've been popping 3oCs at Strikes and Raid bosses, and I've had loads out of them (as it's almost as if it's random) Bought two Helm engrams today, got a second Inmost Light, but also a Saint-14.

I am finding the new classes breathe a bit of life into otherwise under-looked Exotics, mind. The Skullfort now is great! Two opportunities to punch-buff a boss.

and don't get me started on christmas morning. Always getting the wrong fucking version of He-Man I already had or knock off cheap Chinese market versions of the consoles I wanted. I hated it.

I've not done a nf since release. Is there any point?

nope

Not really, no. Bungie weren't happy with the balance of risk and reward and have just toned down all the things that made it interesting to the point of irrelevance. I reckon they'll change it, but at the moment no XP buff and worse loot just means it's a fancy strike. With so many other ways of getting good loot there's just no need for it anymore, surprised they didn't just kill it entirely.

Not really, unless you are desperate for 25 legendary marks (I think that's the reward for doing it first time after the reset). No XP buff any more and the rewards seem to be worse than before. It seems really dumb that it can reward you with gear that's lower than the minimum light requirement to do the actual nightfall.

And I still think the lack of matchmaking in this mode is really stupid. I could sort of understand Bungie's reasoning before when a wipe returned you to orbit so it required more coordination, but not now.

You don't get any Marks from Nightfall. You might be thinking of the one-time-only Quest associated with it.

Courtesy of Eurogamer:

Iron Banner, which sees player character power level matter, returns on 13th October, Bungie said in its latest Weekly Update.

The developer said power still matters in Iron Banner, but it was adjusting the damage curves to work with the new measurement systems introduced with the expansion The Taken King. The recommended minimum Light for Iron Banner is 230. Only level 40 Guardians can lead a Fireteam.

There are other changes: drop rates have been increased so they should be the primary source of rewards from Iron Banner, rather than buying them from vendor Lord Saladin during the event. If you do buy gear from Lord Saladin, you'll need to spend Legendary Marks, giving the new material a new use.

Iron Banner comes with all new bounties (nine daily bounties and three new weekly bounties). These reward Legendary Marks. The tempered buff is now automatically applied and continues to grow in effectiveness each day of the event, so there's no need to remember to apply it.

Meanwhile, changes have also been made to the Trials of Osiris PVP event, introduced with the House of Wolves add-on.

Trials of Osiris returns on 16th October and, once again, character power levels matter. The recommended minimum light level is 290. Only Guardians with at least 251 Light can lead a Fireteam.

One big change is Trials gear now drops exclusively as end-of-match rewards for winning teams. The more you win, the better the drops will be. So, there's no need to return to vendor Brother Vance.

As before, players that get nine wins without a loss get invited to The Lighthouse area. But now, you can continue to play in the Trials plast nine wins - but you won't get any better gear.

Also new are Trials bounties, available each weekend to provide players with a way to get Trials gear, even if they don't reach the Lighthouse.

Here's another important change: Destiny will now try to match up teams with similar win counts. So, if your team has one win, it will try to match you with another team with only one win.

If you have eight wins, Destiny will try to match you with another team with eight wins, which should make for some nerve-wracking bouts as both teams battle for the previous ninth victory.

Sorry Noob questions - so PvP kills can now drop loot during the IB event? Or is it only in certain playlists during the event?

I'm terrible as "normalised" PvP so where gear level etc matters I think I'll be an even bigger liability

This stupid game has really got it's hooks into me now :(
