Light level 289 and starting to hit a bit of a wall with this now.

Nightfalls are kicking my arse and the grind is getting a bit much otherwise.

Any tips for an efficient progression path?

As others have said just play & enjoy.

From my experience though, The Raid is where I seen the biggest gains in light level. Court of Oryx also blessed me with few 299/300 items early on.

Just noticed you can do the Crucible nightfall tier bounties on more than one character, unlike the actual nightfall. Can get exotic rewards, coins, or a legendary. Questline is long, but the bounties at the end are quite easy, as long as you can get some wins in a daily (might be weekly as well, dunno as haven't won one since I got the bounty) as you need about 3 wins (not in a row) to get the points one done.

Also managed to finish the Crucible Titan Striker part of the sub class quest line and got the legendary emblem for strikers. Am on the Defender part now.

I wish we had mayhem clash so I could run around with suppressor grenades on my defender to piss people off :P

How do you earn queen's wrath rep? Wasn't that a time limited event that I never played? I have 600/1000 for the first rank.

You used to earn it by doing the Pack of Wolves bounties which ended when 2.0 dropped.

You can now earn it by doing Petra's bounties which unlock once you've finished The Taken War: Petra quest line.

Theres only 3 available a week however

I think you get rep again if you do the HoW quest line from the abandoned quests console but can't confirm

I finished the nightfall tonight, in one night no less. Shaxx's bounties are far too easy ;)

You'll know the quest line is at an end when you have to do "The mountaintop" quest. Get 9 points from Crucible matches, 3 points for a win, 1 point is lost when you start a new match, so you need to win 3 games without losing. Reward is a legendary heavy weapon (150 attack though, but can be upgraded with 3 legendary marks and other mats)

In the area just before the entrance to The Court of Oryx I defeated a load of taken and afterwards a relic appeared, when I picked it up it said interloper with a timer at the side of the screen?!

What do I need to do with this?

That's the proper way of doing the Devouring chest without dying while opening it. Run to where the chest is with the orb before it de-spawns.

Also I dunno if I'm allowed to post raid stuff here, but

we got to the 2nd boss tonight before we had to call it. The hidden chest in Golgoroth's cellar took far too much time to find and do (and we got bugger all out of it to boot :hmm:), so by the time we got to Golgoroth we were knackered and our eyes were kinda messed up thanks to that dark area (turning brightness up on the TV and in game still didn't help me not fall down umpteen holes while looking for stuff mind :lol:

Raid has not been kind to most of us at all. I'm not asking for much, just a ghost would be very nice, especially as its the only thing I have equipped now under 290 light (its stuck at 286, hell even a blue 290+ would be much appreciated!)

Been trolling people with that RL and my taikonaut helm.

Weirdly, the straight up suros rocket launcher dropped for me on xbox, and in pve it can hold 6 rockets, whereas my fwc can only hold 4. Not sure how that happens. Some launchers allow me to hold 5, Inc Gally.

So

only for the event chests then? Swear someone said they had a ghost out of one of the secret chests. Also if we hadn't messed up the 1st secret chest, we'd all have at least 10 mouldy shards I think

Edit: How come no-one has posted this?!? New chest in VoG found, containing Praedyth's Ghost (this whole thing may just be how to get the grimoire card, but it seems overly complicated just for that alone). Apparently found during the new TTK VoG mission. The guy does not know how this triggered, but it happened when he joined his friends and not even they know how it triggered.

Dont watch the below video if you care about plot/story (I know some people will roll their eyes at this, as this is Destiny, but whatever) as it contains voiceover that isn't in the normal story mission.

Handing it in rewards you with faction rep like the fusion rifles, but to your pledged faction instead of Banshee. You also receive the Grimoire Card "Mystery: Praedyth's Door" and 5 Motes upon turning it in.

I dunno if there will be a proper way to access this later, as it just seems a bit too glitchy to me, so I wouldn't recommend anyone do this just yet. Not because you may get banned or anything (as I know they wont ban you for this), but because it may screw something else up (some quest or other). Hopefully Deej, or someone else from Bungie will post something about it.

Another exotic chest engram, another Crest of Alpha Lupi.

This loot system needs fixed badly.

In 440+ hours I can't remember having an exotic engram drop once. All my exotics are from Xur and bounties.

Since TTK launched legendary weapon engrams are endlessly giving me the same shotguns and machine guns.

It's all starting to wear a bit thin.

I don't think you could actually see exotic engrams drop before since they were awarded on the screen at the end of a mission or strike. They changed that in patch 2.0 so that all the loot you get falls out of the bosses when you defeat them.

I had The Jade Rabbit drop last night doing a Heroic Strike with a 3 of Coins. I've also been getting a lot of the same Exotic Helmets and Chest Armour drop.

That Doom of Chelchis scout rifle the guy was using in the video above looks awesome - is that a Raid gun?

Hello there....

I'm a complete n00b on this now. Just bought it at the weekend and got myself up to level 15 playing through story missions. Must admit, I did one last night where I had to get into a big spaceship thing that was in a cave on the moon somewhere, and it was as good as pretty much anything Halo has done. Amazing music. Tense fights and great balance. I got my mate to come in on a couple of missions... which was fun... but he's level 40 which pretty much meant he battered the powerful characters before I even had a chance to look at them!

BUT - all this stuff you guys are talking about just seems completely alien to me. It's like you're playing a different game. I'm assuming it'll all become clear if I just keep doing what I'm doing - playing through the story quests. On my way to storys (I'm assuming the limited respawn areas are effectively 'instances' that are restricted to me and my fireteam) I'd often see high level characters bouncing around. Are then on their way to another mission - or are then doing something else? Should I join in or stay out their way?
