Why let you spend 25 Legendary Marks to "Ascend" your newly made legendary Strangers Rifle to only take it up to 170 and then NOT let you keep infusing it higher? That's just sodding pointless ????

Give it a few weeks and that 170 strangers' rifle will be useful when trying to get the exotic version. I'm sure of it.

So what's the deal with the wormsinger rune? I stuck it in the slot, killed the hive and the big dude and then nothing. Is the next rune not a guaranteed drop?

Big dude drops another rune, requiring X kills without dying, then you get a key.

He's dropped one every time for me, are you sure you didn't accidentally miss it?

So level 40 and light level 232. Like it. The quick action of the strike playlists/daily stuff is good fun (and the fact there's not "roles" means queues are easy/short).

Not a great fan of patrols (mainly as I have no idea where I'm going or how things connect). Need lots of the 2nd batch of mats now for a sword.

The Skyburners Annex is easily my new favourite exotic, my nightstalker hunter is creating between 50-125 orbs in nearly every strike. The orb generation from the helmet (seems about 50% chance on heavy kill) is on a separate limit to the super, so a good shadowshot can net you around 10-20 orbs per time, and because heavy kills are charging your super faster, you're 1/2 to 2/3 in to your next one by the time you've finished with the last. It's an absolutely brilliant synergy and wading into a group of tethered mobs with a sword is endlessly fun.

Looking for a new Salvage match. Typically, it goes like this:

1. in orbit, looking for a Salvage match

2. quitters after having first the lost relic, and newcomers who leave after seeing the team is at a disadvantage

3. no chance of winning, I leave

4. see step 1

edit: what the fuck Shaxx, all that effort for one lousy Crucible Recommendation!

Did you not see my earlier post a few pages back? I too slogged this fucker out. Never again.

Dunno if its me but every time I go to Court of Oryx no-one is there. Tried going back to orbit and coming back a few times too. Very odd.

ditto. it's weird - maybe people haven't yet really figured out the rune activation part.

Apparently running through areas too fast messes up the matchmaking. I was having the same problem with never seeing anyone at the Court but I saw on reddit if you wait a minute or so after spawning on patrol before running there it should put more people in the same instance as you. That seems to be working fine for me so far.

Fuck me, just met the worst mission possible. Spoilers for late Mars.

The one where you return to Phobos to kill the Echo. Boss firing at you with Destiny Splash Damage nonsense, invisible Minotaurs, black grenade balls, large black balls that spawn enemies, Cabal with shields, immune Vex, fire coming from the ceiling and the lower floor is poisonous. No place to hide, so you have to move around whilst killing adds whilst shooting the boss. I did not think they'd make anything worse than Omnigul. What a joke.

I levelled up a bit more and came back to it, solo'd it, tracking launcher, firefly'd up primary and sniper helped too to be fair.

Of course, with it being typical Destiny there is a way round some of it.

You go into pit to spawn boss, jump back put, go into doorway you came in. Clean up adds, shoot boss, repeat. Can still get a little tricky solely due to adds and only having narrow bit between flames to work with. Flames do burn the adds which helps. You can thank Reddit for that tactic, worked a treat for me.

You also mentioned Omnigul in your post. I have been three of coin farming on 36 strikes (also trying to get some shotguns for the gunsmith quest). Guess who doesn't pop the three of coins buff? Yes, one of the worst strikes has even less reason to play it.

My team's all the way up to the Oryx fight now, where we had to give it up tonight. Two sessions this week, and one go last week.

We might have gotten further tonight, but the intricacy of one of the mechanics in the fight prior to Oryx held us up for a while.

So far, at least, this is a great Raid. Better than VoG.

Up to Oryx and not a single weapon has dropped for me yet which is a little stingy. Just a fancy chest plate. Really need some high level primaries to infuse into my exotics. The Ace of Spades is screaming for some light!!

Raid is great but Oryx fight is super complex. Have to nail it tomorrow though.

I soloed that yesterday. Was very hard at light 293 or so.

I found a defendable space and stayed there. I stayed in the doorway you came in as that seemed as good a place as any.

I saved rockets for the adds (heavy is almost always best used as add clear up now that we don't have gally) and sniped the boss. The invis Minotaurs were the main threat because they are super aggressive and come melee you, so I made sure I had a rocket for them. Boss splash damage was a factor, but if you strafe a bit, you can avoid.

Well done. You've made great progress!

Yeah. We're only up to fatty Gargamel but the two previous bits have had us scratching our heads what to do, and thinking how the buggery can anyone do it but then you refine your tactics and it's a great feeling when you pull it off *ahem*

I'd say VoG is still better but that is down to the fact that I feel the whole 'Hive' thing has been overplayed beyond redemption. We really need some Cabal stuff next!
