Buying the DLC is not cost effective. You just rebuy the whole game basically.

We went in blind on day 1, took us a week over about 4 sessions to work everything out. We have beat oryx 4 or 5 times now.

If anyone is going in blind, don't give up!! It will all fall into place after a while

With a spectacular set of lunatic pricing, its actually cheaper to buy the Legendary edition then it is to buy the 3 DLC packs if you own the original.

In fact from many retailers its cheaper to buy the Legendary disc version with everything then it is to buy just The Taken King content on its own digitally.

Much as I love this game, the financial rape of the existing fan base still leave an unpleasant taste in the mouth

Is it confirmed that engrams are 'pre-chosen' when dropped and there is no element of randomness when decrypting, because I've gotten sick of getting the same things over and over and over again. If I get a special, I know it'll be a Telesto (four now) or Invective (two). If it's a helm then it'll be ( Skullfort or Inmost Light at two apiece) and chest is nothing but Alpha Lupi (either version but heavily stacked for the Titan at five now).

Karthirian also had two exotics drop from the same guy when we did the antiquated rune a couple of days ago, which is something I'll probably never see again!

Bungie confirmed the other day that a bunch of TTK exotics aren't in the engram pool and can currently only be gotten from random drops. I've had multiple Skullforts, Inmost Lights, and Alpha Lupi for engrams as well so I've no idea what's going on there but there's definitely something up with it that they need to address because it's obvious certain ones are dropping at a much higher frequency.

Seems like all the year 1 engrams are dropping far more than the new year 2 ones, so that needs addressing, but there's also the case of getting multiples of the same exotics. What happened to this new "smart loot" system they were supposed to have added?

Also my Ghost has been stuck at 286 since what seems like forever (a week or 2 in reality). I would like to upgrade to a Pentium now please Bungie...

Edit: Anyone available before the weekly reset for Court of Oryx Tier 3 btw? Need the Calcified fragment as just found out next weeks will be a different one.

raid ghost would seem to be the most frequent drop from the early encounters. you'll get a 305 ghost soon enough.

You can do the tier three with randoms, I did it last night - as long as a couple of them know the Crota fight you're fine. Rockets are completely pointless, I was hitting him with a 290 Truth and it was doing the square root of fuck all to him. Seems primary fire is the best option for sure.

Did about 5 runs of the Crota tier 3 last night with randoms before I went to bed (only meant to get finish the gunsmith tests). Telesto was downing pretty quickly.

Ended up with 3 exotic drops last night from 3 of coins. The same hunter gloves 3 times.....the ones I already have. Now I have four.

Don't really understand why they dump you in a fresh instance of the Dreadnaught every time. I need to do a Tier 3 summon, and when I finally get 2 randoms in the instance (after aaaaages, and multiple back and forth to orbits) they dont shoot the boss after I've killed the sword guy so cant do any damage anyway

game does give you a constant stream of useable toys now though. plus the ability to get some exotics for defined accomplishments. In my opinion the loot system is fixed.

Did the Tier 3 finally thanks to Harsin and Spatular, so finally got it done. Got 2 legendary drops from it too, though they weren't much cop sadly. Still bunch of legendary marks, so cant complain.
