I can't believe this loot system only dishing out motes for the current end game final boss, I thought that wasn't supposed to be able to happen now. At least doing Crota the first time you got a guaranteed drop.

I can totally believe that drop given what I've had so far. Those mouldering shards in my pocket are really stinking up the place. Better get something good from the big man.

Another question - if I team up with, say, a level 40 for level 20 story missions/strikes - does it scale so we both contribute roughly the same or will they cake walk it?

They'll cake walk it. There's effectively a cap on how much the game makes low-level mission easier for high-level characters though, so you'll still both have fun. We regularly team up with people of quite varying levels on here. Also, we'd happily "sherpa" you through higher-levels to accelerate your progress.

Hexx, personally I think you just need to play the game and make some of your own choices.

Some of the questions you are asking are things that we've all learnt as we've gone along and they should be things that are personal preferences for you and your play style.

Don't get me wrong, we are all happy to help out, but don't ruin it for yourself by asking questions about everything! Just play the game.

You can still play the crucible, just not any of the new modes or maps.

There is a legacy crucible playlist but it doesn't let you choose the event

I'm definitely buying Hawkmoon anyway. I only finally got the Y1 version from the first "quest" of Y2, I've got a few 290+ blues waiting to infuse into it, and (in terms of how many you have to spend to get anything) Strange Coins appear to be easier to come by than Marks just now anyway. (I've somehow got 70+ this week.) Then I can pick between the Dead Orbit Scout, Bad Juju and Red Death* when my Marks are nearly maxed. (About 145 at the moment, I think.)

Hell, I think I'm going to buy Light Beyond Nemesis too. Then as far as I know the only Y2 Warlock Exotic armour I don't have will be Voidfang Vestments, which of course was the only Exotic Warlock armour I had at all for most of the first half of Y1...

* Normally I think the DO scout would be a no-brainer, but I've already got a 294 'Not Like The Others' (from a drop) with Crowd Control and Reactive Reload, and it's pretty damn good (and similar/slightly better stats-wise), so I'm already pretty set there.

How much of your Y1 stuff have you kept, people? I just can't quite bring myself to dismantle any of my Raid weapons or Exotics, but I'm thinking of just biting the bullet (and maybe just keeping Fatebringer and Word of Crota, for just in case, because elemental damage).

This is, of course, assuming I can still upgrade to Y2 Bad Juju, Red Death, Vestments, etc, even after I've sharded them?

I'm only keeping the Raid gear once I need the space. Don't overshard stuff now though, the Gunsmith quests always have a part in them where you need to shard a certain amount of blue or purple weapons, and Year 1 stuff counts.

If you have the Year 1 blueprint of an Exotic, it unlocks the Year 2 version for 150 marks and a Shard (I think.) Once you've got a Year 2 blueprint, it's 1500 Glimmer to rebuy it. So I'd shard Y1 Exotics first, I think.

Year 1 stuff is diminishing by the day. Kept my Mida and Thorn but really have no idea why.

Keeping Fatebringer, Praedyths and Fang and a couple of other but on the whole the new weapons are pretty amazing so doubt I will ever get them out.

What few of my (regular) Legendaries I still had (and I was always quite vicious with dismantling stuff I didn't use much) have largely gone towards the Gunsmith quests already I think.

The blueprints for Y2 Exotics should all already be in there, so I think I'll keep Fatebringer, Word of Crota and Praedyths and that'll be it then.

What stats does the Y2 Strangers Rifle have, incidentally? Can it be infused up?
