Random question - is there a "design decision" I'm not getting about The Tower being 3rd person, and world-play 1st person?

Stupid, embarrassing question. In the Tower and Character Screen I'm not wearing a hat ween though I have one equipped. Right?

It would not surprise me if it is to show you your gear.

You can choose to have your helm visible in the Tower, look for it in the options.

Tip for when using motes of light to level up your equipped gear:

Pay attention, and ensure you're not dismantling an item adjacent to the motes. Like, say, your entire collection of armour materials. Because I totally didn't do that this morning. No sir!

I did the same with three runes the other night, right when I'd stumbled upon the Court Of Oryx. Luckily the random player with me had the runes.

So I am very positive about TTK on pretty much everything bar the Nightfall - it is cheap now with not only not being kicked to orbit but having checkpoints, my fire team didn't wipe last week but we did today on the boss and just as we were going to consider what we want out of life it just respawned us at the boos fight :o

Up until that moment I was glowing about there actually being a challenge in the Nightfall again but with that checkpoint its gone IMO.

Now that off my chest.... I am 290 on main man (best class obv) warlock and 283 on Hunter - both have hit a wall at the moment but my god I am having fun :D

Anyone got a brief explanation what court of oryx is about?

You put a rune into a statue, a boss is then summoned, you kill it. You've a chance at a decent reward if you put the rune in the statue.

There are 3 tiers based on the rune used - Reciprocal, Stolen and Antiquated, increasing in difficulty (and reward?), bosses are randomly spawned on the first 2 tiers, the third seems to change each week and is fixed until next reset, the 3rd tier boss will have a raid-esque mechanic involved somewhere.

Fireteams are usually restricted to 3 on patrol, and the Court of Oryx is in a patrol area, but you can get 6 in with a bit of work, or you can try messaging a random to open up his fireteam so your clan mates can join. We did this last night, a random let us join his fireteam, made one of us the leader then left meaning we had 2 teams of 3 and we were all in party chat. Good fun with a few mukkers doing it, but will likely end up being a bit boring after a few weeks if there isn't a big enough pool of tier 3 bosses.

Another question - Patrols...do I need to do them when leveling? I was happily pootering around Earth (although a newer questline is taking me to the moon) and I have the option to patrol the Cosmodrome...but do I really need to? Feels like an end game activity

Also when I get "Mission Complete" - do I need to wait for the 30 seconds until mission ends or can I evacuate to orbit quickly and without penalty?

I have a Banshee quest part where I have to dismantle Rare or Legendary Sniper rifles. I'm not going to shard the 2 I'm currently using and I can't bring myself to dismantle Low Grade Humility with Hidden Hand and Unflinching.

Tried for 2 hours last night on patrol to get one to drop or from an engram. Nothing! Gahhhhhhh!

I think I get a sweet sniper rifle at the end of it all but still... The LGH has been so good to me.

You can dismantle pre-TTK weapons and they count. I dismantled 2 pre-TTK shotties and the Titan quest (Immobius) updated.

On the second, you can evac without penalty. I think most of us tend to wait and run around looking for loot we missed and heavy ammo.

For the first one, Patrols can be valuable sources of XP and Vanguard rep. Take all the bounties from the Tower and complete them whilst doing Patrol objectives. Once you get your Vanguard rep to lvl 3, you get Legendary loot at every Vanguard level up.

Another reason to not bother with IGN - not that the score isn't bad but matchmaking for raids would be poor, its bad enough in the crucible!

And strikes (I didn't mind too much this time as I needed fallen kills on the moon)... still wondering how I got 15 assists... assisted suicides maybe?

How is the nightfall this week? Hard but doable? How is the starting bit with the warsat? That bits a bloody nightmare on heroic strikes.

The warsat is the hardest bit all accounts. I'll be heading in later with a bubble and saint-14 and hoping for the best.

I still think matchmaking should be an option for those not aware of lfg for example, let them at least experience it, theres not much of a difference from randoms on lfg to matchmaking...ye dont know them no matter how you look at it.

LFG shows some effort has gone into it, still have a few people on my friends list fro LFG sessions and they were all top people who used comms etc.

I wish people always had comms, sometimes to just shout at them...

Aye, but the same people could be sitting waiting on matchmaking too, just saying should be an option, you wouldn't need to use it you you organise on here, not always suitable for me for instance to join raids for certain times on here, but can start at 11 some nights but everybody is done or started hours earlier.

Options man, let everyone experience it when it suits.

Rocket the ships before they drop the adds, mop up the rest. Bring a void fusion rifle.

With the amount of communication and coordination required for King's Fall, matchmaking would be a complete nightmare.

but does it matter which item has what light? i am wondering. for example if my armour is 310 but weapons are 260 will I have no attack but high defense? Am I more protected to bodyshots than headshots if my helmet is weak. have they said?

And yet... Its an avenue for making new pals too allowing some form of communication, just a thought.

We ran VOG with a random in the early days, no mic, we got through it.
