Had an interesting one last night. Was doing a Raid on Venus and suddenly had a mission called "Into the Jungle" pop up without going to a beacon. The description was ?????????????????. It was a three part mission and each part started with a phrase that revealed over time with a hint at what you needed to do to complete it. I won't spoil it any more than that but I am loving the little touches like this that Bungie have put in.

What kind of light level do you need for Court of Oryx or the raid? I did a Vanguard strike on light 255 yesterday - the Undying Mind, with two randoms - and it was an absolute bastard. It was also genuinely epic, and incredibly good fun - there was one moment when everyone wiped on the final boss, only to have one of the randoms self-resurrect and nimbly dart between plasma bolts to revive the entire team and lead us to victory. It was brilliant, but it was also right on the line between fun and frustrating.

You'll be fine in the Court, certainly for the first two levels. I've been helping out loads of randoms ( between 240 & 260 ) & only once did we get destroyed when someone summoned two Ogres, plus bosses & adds, pretty much all of them with ?? above their heads & immune to all my damage.

You can probably do the first tier of Court of Oryx where you are now. The Vanguard Heroics are 280 Light, I think? That was doable, and it matchmakes.

The suggested level for the Raid is 290, but I was doing the first maybe 40% last night at 285, and that felt fine.

I'd say 270+ for the raid at least. Court of Oryx at level 1 and 2 are perfectly doable at 255 though.

The headset that comes free with the PS4 is actually really good. It looks like a flimsy piece of crap, but it's fine for online play.

I've now got to the last part of the Jolly Holiday quest. It appears that you have to do a lvl 42 (so thats Nightfall lvl I think) version of the Cabal Brothers strike and kill both the brothers at the end with a shotgun blast

I'm off on a city break tomorrow for 5 days ...do you think the GF would object if I sent her by herself? Or maybe I could take the PS4 as hand luggage?

I'm really liking the infusion system. Takes all the stress out of having a legendary and then dropping a more powerful blue, if you like the look/perks/how it feels. I'm 289 now, and hopefully I'll crack 290 tonight. Me and the boy will be on tonight so if anyone needs 2 people for a fire team, then just drop me a line.

I think the Heroic strikes are 260, and the Nightfall is 280. Looks like I might have to run the strike playlist a few more times to conjure up some better gear.

As an aside, the infusion system with weapons is such a great idea. I kind of wish it'd been in there from the start, so that I could beef up my Vision of Confluence and hang onto it for longer.

You know what? No. I am not having this bullshit, downright childish vilification of those of us who have been using the three of coins how we see fit.

The only people to decide how much fun they have from the game is themselves. I actually really had a lot of fun killing Draksis, the anticipation of whether an orb would drop, then the anticipation of what kind of engram it was going to be, followed by the excitement of the final reveal.

It's absolutely nothing like the exclusion zone glimmer farming. From farming those exotics I have got some decent armour, and three fantastic exotic weapons, weapons which are now really enhancing my enjoyment of the game even more.

So why shouldn't we post about it in this forum? Thus far the destiny community has been fantastic. But now a few are stinking the place up with negs because we're not playing the game the way they think it should be played.

I couldn't agree more. I've had great fun this weekend and Killing Draksis over party chat with a few others was hilarious. We then teamed up with our new gear and played the game as normal testing it all out - getting lots more good gear to drop in some cases. I don't even see it as an exploit, other than they should have put a cooldown on it, the 3 of coins is working fine. Some of the complaints (not just on here) are hilarious, don't abuse the 3 of coins, but it's fine to use a loot cave, cheese a raid boss or glitch heavy ammo.

I actually wouldn't be surprised if Bungie deliberately left this open to 'exploit' for the first weekend to let folk get up to speed a bit since they rendered all your old gear useless on Tuesday.

I prefer playing the game with good gear to playing it with shit/average gear in the vague hope something decent might drop. After the dust settles from this weekend I doubt most of the guns dropped from the 3 of coins method will be used much anyway. The ones you get from quests seem much better and the RNG drops will all be sold by Xur eventually (Apart from Jade Rabbit obviously).

Anyway, I'm up for some Court of Oryx as well later. I need to get some tier 2 runes, but my Eris rep is only half way up rank 4, can they drop elsewhere?

Stolen runes can drop in the court, but you need to do three tier one runes to power them up (doesn't have to be "your" recipricol rune, just join the public event)

I reckon it's a deliberate thing with the 3 of Coins just to deplete all the hardcore players of their backlog of hundreds of coins. With the way this game now throws coins and motes at you, and the stores may of us had of hundreds of these things (I sharded all my Ascendant and Radiant materials at the Speaker for motes, and ended up with like 600 of the things, and I've still got more than 200 Coins) without something to encourage you guys to throw coins at the screen they'd just have a different balance issue, and that one would last the lifetime of the game.

Cheers, haven't had one of them drop yet though I've only had 2 sessions in the Court of Oryx so far of around 4 or 5 rounds each time.

I like the way you left it ambiguous as to which door was which in the context of 3 of coins.

Yeah, you need to get them to promote someone else and leave afterwards but a lot of people are happy to help out. I think method 1 is easier though.

None of them is fine

Bungie have taken all the complaints from the first year and made a game that rewards players when playing normally whilst also creating decent quest lines.

Then they find that players would rather kill a boss repeatedly 50 times over because they're too impatient and need all the shiny toys at once.

Just on the off-chance this is partially directed at me, I meant no offence mate (and certainly having been throwing any negs around). I was being a bit tongue-in-cheek, and not really judging (I was mildly tempted myself), I just think it's a bit unnecessary what with the games present generousity, as I've had plenty of drops* for just having played as I would've anyway.

In fact, as a couple of the guys I was online with last night will tell you, my biggest problem at the moment is actually remembering to pop the fuckers after a boss!

* I now basically have all of the Warlock armour (Obsidian Mind, The Stag, Impossible Machines (all of which I'd already got from Xur on Friday, but had better drops for from the Threes), Alchemists Raiment and Heart of the Praxic Fire), as well as The Last Word and Monte Carlo.

I'm actually at the point now where if I pick up an Exotic Engram I'm disappointed if it's not a weapon, as I've had at least 10 armour drops (including stuff for other classes and dupes) but only two weapons. When I got a chest engram yesterday I was a little irritated, but just as I was handing it over to Rahool I said to Moose and OZ I'd be happy enough if it was at least Heart of the Praxic Fire (which I always fancied but never got in the first year). Guess what it was

Of course, then about 15 minutes later I got another chest engram, and this time it was for a Titan.

Yup, agreed on all counts. I think they just need (and will hopefully get) a short cooldown period (like Heavy Ammo synths) and then it's problem solved.

I've been thinking a lot about how they could fix it, and everything I can think of has a negative impact somewhere else on people who aren't abusing it. A cooldown would hurt tier three Court Of Oryx, as would limiting the number of times it can be used on the same boss. A daily limit would hurt the Strike playlist, and the raids. Reducing the drop rates or stack effectiveness, or increasing the price/making strange coins harder to come by would just fuck everyone.

Maybe Mike's right and they just wanted people to burn through their stocks on the first weekend to even out economy balance a little bit. Certainly the motes-for-XP thing seems to have been designed along the same lines.

I've had maybe 3-4 blues above 280, which went straight into infusing my 3 swords. And i've had the same crappy purple Machine Gun (the one with 2% range) drop 3 times now.

Like everyone, I had my eye on the FWC Launcher, so when i reached my Mark cap, i thought "fuck it", and sauntered off to the Shipyard, only to be disconnected by a 'Beetle' error. I figured the game was trying to tell me something lol, so i saved my pennies and bought a Suros Regime this morning instead.

Wise choice, because its a delight to use now they've given you the option to bypass 'Focused Fire'.

Couldn't they just limit it so that the three of coins is only spent if you start a mission or strike from the very beginning, rather than from a checkpoint midway through? That would disadvantage people being dropped partway into a matchmade strike, but that doesn't happen very often in my experience.

Apart from Swords, there's no new exotics heavies either.

My theory is that they saw what happened with the Guyanatrumpet and just replaced that level of devastation with the new supers. They are sooooo much fun to unleash than the 'horn. I'm also using exotics primaries more than I ever did before because that bloody thing was strapped to my heavy slot.

Never even levelled up my hawkmoon in year 1 and I used the new one exclusively in the raid last night. It's fucking amazing!

K's suggestion would work, if modifiers can only be applied at the start of a mission, then the checkpoint bug would be null & void.

Not the easiest thing to implement though.
