I know lots of people have been doing the house of winter one to suicide when killing the boss. Same for eye of a gate lord.

Personally I have been running Regicide. There is a part not far in where two ultras come out. You can easily dispatch the first cabal one then let the ogre kill you. Then go again!

I did it on Eye of the Gate Lord. You just need to go to orbit before the level ends and you spawn right at the start of the boss fight. The only downside is the story VO at the start of the level takes longer than killing the Gate Lord. Takes no time to charge up to him though when you first start the level, you may even be able to sparrow all the way to the gate Lord in a few mins.

This game is no longer making me run through a small amount of content repeatedly in the hope of getting a random loot drop! There is too much variety and fun stuff to do! I must remedy this immediately.

Makes me wish Bungie would throw the ban hammer around more for exploits...

Fuck. So you mean I have to slog through that fucking Fist of Crota boss fight first? The one designed by someone I hope got fired and shot into the fucking sun?

Ah. I found a taken king prelude cinematic hidden on the map. I'll try that

My conscientious objection to the outrageous £40 asking price lasted all of.....6 days.

I've only done the first two story missions but this is already leaps and bounds ahead of anything that the game offered in Year 1. Actual story! Characters with some genuine character! Green weapons that aren't dismantled immediately! Quests coming out of my arse! Nathan Fillion!

Very early impressions are hugely positive & it bodes very well indeed for the future direction of the game. Credit to Bungie, they've taken all of the criticism onboard & have answered in fine style.

Time to hit the Dreadnaught...

I'm not quite sure why people need to 'stretch' the Three of Coins usage. Between the Taken invasions, the almost constant clashes betwixt forces on the Dreadnaught and even just doing the TTK story missions, the game showers exotics at you. I've had 2X No Back Up Plans, a Ruin Wings, Obsidian Mind, Hawkmoon, 2X Telesto, Invective and 2X Crest of Alpha Lupi(Titan version) and that's without replaying checkpoints and deliberately killing myself.

As long as you have the buff active, it seems the game is very generous even when you're playing normally.

Agreed. Have some actual fun instead! You could be picking up higher level gear along the way too.

What is the the deal with the The Last Word quest? After having a good handful of kills I am at 23%, only to be dropped back to 9% after "a few" deaths. Do only kills count? No captures, no assists, no wins? I am more and more leaning towards sniping from way at the back, playing it safe and not participating in objectives. Great, I am about to become the prick I despise in Crucible.

I think it's about balance.

I'm playing through the game and loving it, but couldn't resist trying the three of coins stuff for a bit because everyone else is doing it and I want the shinies too! I also wanted to get to a decent level to sample the raid on the first day.

I wish it wasn't there though. It messes up the currency of the game completely. Hopefully it's fixed for next week and that will be the last of it, much like the original loot cave.

After shutting down the PS4 last night, I was day-dreaming about what bits & bobs I needed to fully flesh out my build(s) and make them viable for every situation the new content throws at you. First on my shopping list was a good long range Scout Rifle.

Woke up this morning, cashed in a few bounties and ranked Dead Orbit again. That little beauty dropped this wondrous piece of tech in my lap:

Ran a few heroics strikes earlier in an attempt to get my Dead Orbit faction quest done (One part of it is to complete 10 Heroic strikes) and the amount of people who drop out of the strikes is infuriating. I managed to complete 3 strikes in the end but probably started 6 or 7.
One of the strikes was the Taken version of Valus T'bulletsponge which I ended up having to do entirely with just one buddy. Thankfully he was pretty good so it wasn't much of an issue.
I was getting pretty annoyed after a while until I ranked up FWC and received a lovely shader for my troubles :)

Yup. It's almost utterly pointless too - just using them normally I've gotten Monte Carlo, The Last Word, Impossible Machines, The Stag, Obsidian Mind and Alchemists Raiment, as well as dupes and stuff for other classes. All of that's already going to take me about 15 years to level, so what's the point in endlessly murdering poor Draksis just to make it worse?!

I got up to about 30%, then had a brainwave - I went into Legacy 3v3, where it's a bit less competitive, I know all the maps like the back of my hand, and TLW being outclassed at range was less likely to be an issue, and I had it done within three games. It would've been two, but Shaxx called the second game under the mercy rule. :P

There is definitely something off about it. For example, tried going into control playlist, and got no points for anything, didn't lose any either. Works in the daily rift playlist, but I swear sometimes the kills didn't count. Doesn't help I went from about 25% to 4% in about two matches. I cannot stand The Last Word as a gun. I think the cheesy method of only equipping TLW when you have super/heavy/team about to win might be better bet.

I've been playing through the single player stuff in order. Does it scale you down to match the level of the mission? Only I decided to try the Fist of Crota mission and fuck me I didn't feel like I was level 31

There's a cap on the benefit that the difference between your level and enemy level has. If I remember correctly, this caps at four levels of difference, ie: if you're six levels above an enemy (eg, you're 31 and they're 25) you'll only do as much damage as you would if you were level 29. When damage is capped, you'll see it in grey, not white - like what happens in low-level patrol areas like the Cosmodrome. You get _some_ advantage for being overlevelled, but it tapers off. It also means that the damage number you see on really low level enemies are nowhere near the maximum damage you'll actually do to enemies of your level.

(Although: this changes at level 40, because combat calculation is now based on your Light Level, not your XP Level. And I have no idea how that works at the moment).

The quest definitely counts points during Control as that's where I completed the quest but I do agree that there is something off about it. It seemed to take me a long time to acquire points and a lot less time to lose them. I'm glad it is over and done with.

I've had my eye on that since Tuesday (vendor version has firefly!)

Ranked up 7 DO levels in the last week and have got boots and cloaks 3 times each.

Not really as fixed as Bungie were hoping clearly.

The last boots I got were worse light level than the ones they are selling. Surely that's a bit silly?

Last rank just now I got a weapon!

A fusion rifle.

Always preferred Future War Cult.

I got so frustrated doing this quest its ridiculous. I cant see it lasting like it is for long as getting headshots with the gun itself only gives 3%, and if you die you seem to lose 2%

I shot up in percentage by getting a spree of 3-4 kills on control by breaking a titan's bubble and killing those inside (sunbreaker hammers > golden gun btw, as I had lots of super energy to spare after doing so and wrecked the 4 people inside ), so stick to either that or Rift for your kills, as you'll sort of know where people will be regardless of radar. Then only equip the gun when your super is charged or you have heavy ammo, and remember to run to safety and unequip once either has run out. As I said, I cant see it being like this for long, as its obviously not working as intended with how much percentage you lose on a kill.

I got 41% last night, but then died after I got a few kills which knocked me down to 39% (no idea why it hadnt gone up in percentage mind from the kills  )

Edit: On the coins front, everyone saying run strikes - I ran strikes last night and both myself, and Droodling, popped some coins before bosses. We got jack and shit off every boss. Oh and the Psion Flayers in the Mars strike (old PS4 exclusive) do not even count as ultras, and they're the boss!

So I would not recommend using them on heroic strikes at least.

I have had that with the kills as well. Went on legacy 6v6, managed about three or four with a machine gun. Some of them as part of a spree. Bar didn't move. I think for some people it is bugged. The first game I played I went up to 20% in one go. That machine gun game I had KDR of 3.0 or something, and went up a few precent. I know sprees give you more, but something thing was up. I have just abandoned it now, it was just pissing me off.

On the exotic front, the only new exotics I've had are from the helm engrams for sale from Xur, and that was the Taikonaut and the shadestep helm for my Hunter. No idea how you lot are somehow managing to get new armour/primary/special weapon exotics. My luck must be well crap.

Only weapons I've had are year 2 versions of Invective (I've had 2  ) and the Fourth Horseman (which I will never use as its range is well shit). Would have loved a year 2 Thunderlord or Hawkmoon instead :(

At least I have my Boolean Gemini, which I earned from that long Reef questline. Only new year 2 gun I've got at the moment, but its actually pretty good when you get the stability up on it.
