What's the minimum recommended level for the daily story mission to not be classified as "hard"? The minimum is 240 light and I'm at 249 and it still says hard.

You'll be fine maf, I just did it at 249 though ideally take a team

20 hours in two days. A life well wasted.

Light is in the low 270s. Baz is raid ready though the git. Today's hot tips:

- equip your highest light-level gear before turning in engrams for the best chance of getting gear that's higher than your current best. Baz got a 297 chestpiece earlier. It was blue.

- that suggests to me that infusion is a better way to spend marks than vendor gear. I have at least one legendary in every slot and all have come from rankup packages or quests.

- the vanguard strike playlist is brilliant. A stern challenge but it's a fair sort of difficulty, more a matter of tactics than big health bars. Go raggo and you'll get killed, but it's not about finding a safe spot and whittling away anymore, just about knowing when to be aggressive and when to fall back. Good source of marks and new toys too, get in there as soon as you're able.

I finally 'get' the light system for green/blue/purple items. I've been running round with green/blue guns/armour as it had more light than the legendary stuff I had but I think you are supposed to keep infusing the legendary stuff as the attack/defense light level of green/blues dropped is tied to your current light level so as you keep climbing higher the drops you get keep climbing too. So basically once you have a legendary you are happy with stat/perk wise you can just keep upgrading it to higher light levels. Costs 3 legendary marks so you may want to wait till you get something about 10 higher than what you have.

Basically for now keep your marks for infusing legendaries rather than blowing it on a exotic blueprint imo.

EDIT - Fucking nate and his hot tips beat me to it by a minute!

EDIT 2 - Nate, Baz, fancy trying the nightfall later? I'm at 273 currently.

Jesus there is a lot going on in this. Not sure how some of you are so high on the light levels already - Im just over 240 and thought I was doing well having played last night and a fair amount of today.

There is so bloody much to do! The dreadnaught in particular seems full of secrets. I found a hidden room earlier but no indication in there of what it was for (lots of little glowing gems and a central area though). Ive also got a few runes now all of which seem to do different things.

I spotted a few chests around that I couldn't open, then later found a couple of keys for them and found out what they did. Second opening gave me a sublime engram, amongst other things, although disappointed not to get an exotic from it.

So yeah, this is going to take a while on one character to fully master, let alone think about having three fully levelled for a while. I spent a bit of time with randoms in the court of Oryx which was cool but only o tier one and two I think. And I now have 19 quests on the go it seems!!

Should be on again later if anyone fancies the daily and some crucible?

Baffled how so many are such high light level already. Thinking like I'll likely not be ready for any raiding this weekend. No chance am I going to hit 290 for Friday unless I suddenly get showered in super high level gear.

Is there a playlist that dishes out unlimited legendary marks? Bungie have made a big thing about the unlimited weekly cap but seems like there is a limit to what you can actually do so its kind of meaningless. Once the quests are done you've got the weekly, daily and .....what else am I missing?

So I might not have fucked myself up then, since I'm only 3 missions in and light 241. I can expect the drops to be of higher light then as I progress?

I'll be starting at 9 tonight working through the story and daily stuff, I've only done the first Dreadnaut mission. If anyone's around the same area progression wise feel free to join.

Probably helps I am feeling lousy enough to not play this and just go to bed. I wouldn't get hung up on marks and new purples and things like that. I know a lot of you want to get onto the raid as soon as possible. You got all year/till next DLC comes out. We haven't even had Xur hopefully selling sweet, sweet year two exotics yet.

By all means, if you have the free time and want to Blitz through it, do so. I am going to take my time, dip into stuff and do the higher level stuff when I am good and ready. I miss out on a few raids or nightfalls? There are thousands of you buggers now. Go online and you are crawling out the god damn walls. I am sure it will be easy enough to sort out later.

Preferably to some easy loot on my first run through that makes me a God. I will also take the exotic titan helmet that, well, there is one I am highly interested in.

Gives any rocket launcher tracking. Where is my year two Dragon's Breath?

I think I need to do some strikes. I've played a ridiculous amount of Destiny since yesterday - well over 18 hours, I'd say - and despite getting packages for tipping all the factions/cryptarch/vanguard across three characters, and finishing the story missions and a fair few subsequent quests, and doing some new patrols and finding some secrets and chests and stuff on the Dread, I just seem to have completely plateaued at 240-ish light. Getting to level 40 was as trivial and quick as expected, but armour and weapons seem stuck at around that level, and have been since fairly early yesterday evening.

So yeah, strikes, maybe. But everything else in the game seems to shower me with (blue) engrams, so why do the strikes? - it's just those engrams are never really any higher level than my current light level, so they're not even much use for infusions. Hmm.

Oh aye, the other thing. I'll never get to raid level for the weekend (and haven't got a raid team at the minute anyway), but I was thinking of starting a King's Fall [spoilers] raid thread. Obvious reason being, spoilers. I figured it'd suit everyone - people who haven't done the raid and don't want its secrets or strategies given away wouldn't have it spoiled by reading this thread or having to skip over through increasing swathes of spoiler tags. And those who have finished it, or part of it, and want to discuss tips and secrets and stuff, or who might actually want people to feel them what to do or give hints, could just discuss it in there, again without the awkwardness of hundreds of hidden spoiler-tagged comments. I figure there might be quite a gap between the date the first few finish it and when most people get properly stuck in, and allowing people who want to discuss it openly to do so might be better than expected an ever more cluttered and obscure series of spoilered conversations in here.

What do you think? More than happy if someone else kicks it off. In fact it'd probably be better if someone more likely to get balls deep into the raid sooner than me did so.

Got a 267 legendary chest and the new dead orbit ship (looks like one you buy off Variks, but in dead orbit colours) for ranking up.

Then got a Variks like auto rifle from the old Taniks strike that has a Cabal killer type perk. Pretty cool.

Edit: Getting a bit annoyed at the Taken War quest on earth as NO-ONE IS ON EARTH! :hmm:

Total burnout.

Spent a day and a half with some great players (thanks guys), am 250 light and have a headache to match.

Changing light to xp levelling is just weird. Why bother? Bungie should admit that two digits were no longer suitable. Or at least, added increasing grinds between xp levels. Silly. And having 40 over your head? Ridiculous really.

It seems like there is loads of hidden stuff in the dreadnaught. Well, it did yesterday.

I hope they don't abuse quests by planting exotics at the end of huge quest chains. I'm a semi casual and it will destroy it for me. I enjoyed playing like mad for months and months ahead of each update for the end game of regular Tuesday night raid teams getting shit done. Runes you say....

Too much too soon, that's my destiny experience summed up - and it's my own fault.
