Level 40 took 30secs, I was pretty shocked but having tried a thingy strike under levelled I got smashed - light is about 230, was 220 is when I tried it and on Vita. I haven't tried the new story yet, want to play it properly but sounds positive.

Things I have noticed;

Killing majors doesn't give you any glimmer anymore

Getting Legendary marks is going to be tough

Engrams drop like confetti, I could fill my vault already :o

Much more to do to get rewards in crucible

Levelling factions seems to take longer, not sure if they do but they seem to!

Ha, if you think that's quick

Well this is pretty fucking cool.

Played through the main story line and throughly enjoyed every minute. I felt like I actually knew what was going on for once - the cut scenes made a huge difference in bringing to life the tower and the characters within.

Cayde 6 has absolutely stolen the show so far, although I must admit to also really liking the new ghost dialogue (I'd not been enjoying his take on the old lines, but the new script seems to be working better for his delivery).

Titan is looking fairly strong already. The leap to 40 was far too short and makes the experience levelling again feel like an unnecessary side show. If light is important and linked to your gear, I don't really see how the situation is much different from before - being forced in to using your highest light level items (for now at least) in order to be strong enough for activities (rather than picking those with the best perks, etc. I guess that will come in time, as before).

I'm really enjoying it though. Quests and gear are being thrown at me and I can't wait to get stuck back in. Got that revenant shader from dead orbit I've been after for a while which suggests the drops are a bit more intelligent now (or I finally got lucky). The legendary helmet I got looks shit though so I'm either buying a different one later or hoping for a decent drop.

Dreadnaught to explore today- looks like an absolute monster with lots of secrets (have already stumbled across a few hidden items and odd scenarios).

I'm at home today so should get to play a fair bit. I notice a few bounties and quests require a fireteam so if any of you lot are around and fancy teaming up for a bit let me know.

Do we know if the calcified fragments respawn? I found two before starting the quest, but then when I got the quest I started at 0/5. I've found three since, but where I found the other two, there are none. :(

Between characters only. There's 25, you'll have more than enough for Eris's quest line

Finished yesterday's session with x3 level 40's with everything just after Oryx complete with both dailies done.

Haul included: Truth 3.0, a few purple weapons, 96 legendary marks, a bit of purple armour to take my 3 people to around 240 light and sore & tired eyes for today.

Back to work today & the mrs has plans for tonight. FML.

What's the deal with old bosses now? Can you stand there and trade sword blows with Crota at level 40? Does Skolas get melted by new TTK rocket launchers?

Most of the bosses use anti-cheese mechanics which force you to fight properly rather than hide and snipe on my play through so far. Destiny has always capped the damage you can do to lower level enemies and made it possible for them to still kill you (unlike the rules for enemies) so Skolas won't get melted again unlike the original ghorn spam. Also, not seen a TTK rocket launcher thats a patch on any of my decent vanilla ones. Same for most weapons, the 2.0 patch has seriously downgraded everything perk wise.

Agree the leveling continues to feel weirdly irrelevant. One thing I would caveat is that you should be picking the gear which you like (based on perks, looks, etc) and then infusing it with higher light level gear to increase its light. This can be done from the inspect gear menu.

And costs legendary marks to do so (3 but still) so I wont be doing that yet...

I got revenant too! They must have made that drop more frequent to devalue the rarity of old shaders in favour or new ones. #tinfoilhat

You can only infuse gear with other items with higher light value. For example were you to get a higher value rifle with perks you found less desirable. Game still wants you to shard that 200 one to get legendary marks.

i assume this is how mmos work (have not been an mmo person before this) but fucking hell couldn't they have some tutorials for some of this shit!

But that's just it, I want to infuse the 200 auto rifle with the power of the 230 one, but it says I don't have anything to use. When I clearly do.

are they both legendary?

I haven't finished it yet, but the story mode is a massive improvement on the one in the base game - it actually feels like a Bungie game, which is pretty high praise. It's not just the cutscenes, either - the levels are properly structured, there's real variety, and it feels like you're actually progressing through the world, i.e. you're not just going through the same areas of the open world five times in a row. The mission where you ascend the colony ship is exactly what was missing from the original game - it's just a shame there's not more of it.

It does make me even more curious as to what went wrong with the original game, as presumably they must have been at a fairly advanced stage when Bungie apparently went back and revised everything in 2013. The original campaign must have looked like this at some point.

On another note, has anyone else run into any glitched quests? I've got one for my titan that says I have to level the defender class to the maximum, and I did that last year.

They could have at least awarded legendary marks for that level 36 playlist. I've done the campaign and a few strikes and I'm still under the recommended light level for basically everything you can earn legendary marks from. I guess I'll just be grinding strikes today then in the hope the RNG gives me decent stuff.

It doesn't seem to 'ping' subclass progress until you gain some XP with it equipped. I've been redeeming a bounty, but presumably you could just go shoot something.
