Now that the exotic vending machine is up and running, presumably it's worth sharding any older exotics you have that are sub-160, and just rebuying them again from the machine?

Missed this earlier. You probably know this anyway, but the exotics you get from blueprints require level 40 and cost 150 legendary marks to obtain. So yeah, once you're 40 and have the marks available, shard away. Once we're a few days into the game I'd imagine the old 170 attack weapons will be pretty useless anyway compared to the 280 attack of the plain level 40 exotics.

(I'm sure the TTK cap isn't 280 either - because vendor stuff can also be 280, and clearly raid gear is going to be higher levelled than that. The fact that the Year Two versions of Year One exotics start out capped at 280 supports this assumption, because they all have the Infuse node, which allows you to 'consume a more powerful weapon to boost the Attack value of this weapon' (plus an exotic shard which you presumably get from sharding your Year One exotic, plus a nominal further 3 marks). So they must go higher than 280 and have more powerful weapons than 280 available to feed their progress, and unless that's just future-proofing for the next DLC, I expect it's so you can consume duplicate raid/Trials drops in order to raise the light level of your favourite exotic weapons/armour to the same as the raid/Trials pieces - maybe to about 300 or a bit over. And that might help you with the harder version of the raid. Bit of guesswork, but it makes sense to me.)

Seems Bungie have changed the original news post about Suros pre-orders (possibly due to Game contacting them, as mentioned in the email that the person in the Bungie forum thread received):

The SUROS Arsenal Pack is available on pre-order from select retailers depending on your country. It is also available in the Collector¹s Edition and if you pre-order Destiny: The Taken King digitally.

I swear that was not what was there before, and it said there was no exclusivity for any retailer. Good job Bungie...

Its supposed to be available in January, when everyone can get it (no idea if its just the guns, or the emblem/shader as well, and also no idea how you get it then either), so I guess us Simply Games folks will have to settle for that.

So mainly due to just finding stuff to do i finally re-rolled NL Shadow 701X and got full auto, Hand Laid Stock and Crowd Control, wow its a beast in Crucible and thats without Crowd Control even opened up yet! Shame i've not got too long to enjoy it.

Anyone else found a little treasure buried in their inventory recently?

Well.... Thorn still does the business in crucible, roon yeez.

But even i can admit a huge drop in its overal use, id say Pulse Rifles are the new meta, Scouts following close behind. Auto's dont seem to really have the boost i was hoping for, but ill wait for iron banner before i shard Shadow Price.

year one exotic blueprints you can buy for glimmer only on the next page of the exotic blueprint kiosk. this may be obvious but jerec had to bring this up to my attention. no legendary marks needed.

Yeah, was all pulse and, I think, a nechrochasm, mibees a hard light ( I dont have access to that, sharded it long ago, not at kiosk, either is my no land beyond that has been sharded about 5 times, squid face aint getting 23 coins off me for that).

Was all play and spray with the full auto.

In the 2 matches I played, I did not come up against an enemy with a thorn, everyone running scared of the nerf, I rarely put 2 shots in someone and hid anyway, I tended to Rambo all over the shop, so, I am fine with it.

Will try the Strangers rifle at some point though.

Couldnt fulton any containers, was raging.

They have changed it. They've replaced the line 'Suros Arsenal Pack is not exclusive to any retailer or platform' with the line 'The SUROS Arsenal Pack is available on pre-order from select retailers depending on your country. It is also available in the Collector¹s Edition and if you pre-order Destiny: The Taken King digitally.' A pretty fundamental change, I think you'll agree.

The original version is as quoted everywhere on the net at the time, such as here: http://www.xboxoneuk.com/xbox-one/news/destiny-the-taken-king-edition-pre-order-bonus/ (taken from a press release) and it was still the same when quoted in a reddit thread started a month ago - https://www.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheGame/comments/3ef6yw/suros_arsenal_pack/ - where the OP is querying why Gamestop was claiming exclusivity. Ironically, the quote is taken from Bungie's news page because DeeJ steps into the thread to link to it saying 'Before speculation leads to misinformation, allow me some time to investigate this surprise revelation and deliver some clarity about how you can obtain these items.' The news page DeeJ links to has now changed to the text you quote, but its original form is still quoted in that reddit article and approved by that whole thread in that form. Because DeeJ was clearly entering the thread to quash the rumours of retailer exclusivity.

So, yeah, looks like they've not only not stuck to the quite explicit 'no exclusivity' deal they promised and advertised, they've retrospectively airbrushed it out in the wake of customers posting that they've been duped. Absolutely shitty business practice. I really do hope some games sites take them to task over this, rather than roll over and allow such shyster practices to proliferate in the trade. And I don't buy that this change is 'clarification' of the much earlier 'clarification': the original is quite unambiguous, and doesn't mean even vaguely the same thing as the rewritten blurb. In fact, it means just about the opposite when it comes to retail copies. Pretty disgraceful really.

I drifted away from the game just after the first expansion came out but looking to jump back in with The Taken King. Is there anywhere particularly helpful that documents the changes since then and what, I anything, I need to do to prepare for the new stuff? I guess I can read through the old patch notes and announcements but if there's a site that has gone through this for lapsed early players I'd appreciate a link!

think activision would have made that arrangement with game. maybe bungie thought they could somehow get out of it. I really wish game was doing better and had more stores in London. i love the idea of dedicated game stores. but they really need to find other ways to stay relevant. stupid fucking codes inside boxes are not going to save that business model.

Absolutely disgraceful, surely this is a watchdog issue, changing pre-order goods after people have received their copies is deliberately misleading

Doesn't sound like they were changed, sounds like Bungie didn't know what the actual availability was outside the US from the start and just assumed the US preorder bonuses applied worldwide. It's not like SimplyGames ever advertised having the Suros arsenal, and Game were pretty clear about UK exclusivity.

Not really, because the recharge rate in Mayhem is so fast anyway that a high discipline build gives you the equivalent of the 'fling grenades with wild abandon' perk.

Much as I'm having a blast with Mayhem at the moment, I wonder if it'll still be quite as much fun when everyone's tooled up with level 40 gear & has full intellect & discipline builds.

Oh well, I'd most likely not have used the shader with the VIP black one being available anyway, but the emblem was quite nice. No idea how we'll get them next January either, as that's when we can supposedly get them in game anyway, regardless of where we pre-ordered from.

New code found for an emblem from the collectors edition of TTK - Insula Thesauraria - 3VF-LGC-RLX

Credit goes to folks on Reddit, among others.

Its not active yet, but the code does work, just need to activate it come Tuesday I guess.

Also found some old codes that I had never entered, oddly. From here

I just entered the codes above, logged in and they were at the postmaster. They do not seem to have been added to the emblem terminal. Whether this is a bug, or by design I dont know. Best to hang on to them until we know for sure if you like any of the new emblems above. Probably a bug though.

What's the etiquette for joining people on your friends list whilst they're on patrols or in a daily, I love it when people have dropped in and helped me out.

I'm very hesitant to join others though as I feel I might be intruding.

What do you guys think?

It's welcome. Players have the ability to make their Fireteams invite only should they wish to patrol alone. I can only speak for the Playstation bunch; everyone is rather pleasant and will let you know if they are saving a space for someone else or if they would rather be on their tod.
