Destiny: FIN

You need to do the quest, rather than just the mission. Go to the incomplete missions terminal in the vanguard hall and pick the black garden quest. It starts you on the Venus level where you first meet the stranger, then work through to the final mission.

Cheers, done and Strangers rifle get!

Sorry, I bet I've missed it, but if I'm already level 34, is there any point in doing any of the new (subclass) quests, etc, just yet? Surely better to wait until next week to get the XP, no?

Oh, and I've got 200 each of the old Marks. Are they getting converted to the new Legendary ones, or getting wasted, or...?

It's so weird how so much looks so different... And Nolanbot is fine, but will take some getting used to after Dinklebot, I think.

I levelled my hunter from 31 to 34 by doing the Bladedancer quest alone so the levelling seems pretty swift. I'm still going to wait until next week to do them on my main though (Titan).

Either way, I don't think it is going to take too long to get to 40.

You can re-do them at a higher level next week for more XP anyway. You'll get class items with higher light stats than your old stuff, plus you'll get a level 40 class item for completing a quest chain. You can level up your ghost(s) from the Speaker, which well help with your intellect / discipline / strength stats when TTK lands. The new bounties are very quick to do too.

In other news, I figured doing the weekly might be a good idea to do the Gunsmith Rocket Launcher stuff, on top of my Striker / orbs / strike thing. The random we got paired with Gjallarhorned everything. Everything. Never though I'd be saying this, but fuck Gjallarhorn

I've done the three steps of the Bladedancer Gunslinger subquest, but not yet handed it on to pick up the level 40 cloak at the end (as there's no point). And I've fully tested the three non-Crucible weapons the gunsmith had, and... that seems to be that for now. I guess when you rank up enough and/or Bungie throw some switches you'll be able to do a bit more and progress to making an order or something. Oh, and I did 'level up' a new ghost just through playing. Can't see much else new to do at the moment though, the new Crucible stuff aside.

I understand some of you guys have the new Suros pre-order emblem and, er, shader? In fact, I've seen some of the new emblems on you. How did you get those? A few people who've pre-ordered seem to have got them, and a few who've pre-ordered - like me - haven't got them. Any idea?

Judging by the Bungie forums there seem to be a load of people who haven't got the Emblem and Shader after preordering. No real explanation as to why but Bungie have posted that anyone who preordered but hasn't received them will have them on the 15th.

Seems to be a related issue where like me people bought Destiny and the expansions via US PSN and play on a UK account.

Bungie have stated that "In order to qualify for the Suros weapons pack, emblem, and shader, the account must have pre-ordered Destiny: The Taken King." Hopefully that doesn't apply to the expansion too!!

So people are doing all these quests then? I picked them all up on one character mainly because I didnt like them sitting there as 'abandoned' quests! Sounds like you get a class item and thats about it? Good for exp and faction edging though I guess.

In other news, I got a couple of quick videos covering final crucible games before the patch. One fun round in Trials:

And another reign of terror (Hunter this time). This game was going badly - I was just doing bounties really (grenade kills, fusion rifle kills, etc) but then I picked up some heavy ammo :) :

I have two of the PoE exotics..

The Bow is lovely. You have chosen... wisely.

I concur, went for this first and having a sniper with 90+ rounds is great!

The shotgun is actually quite decent in Crucible.

Just got this, glad to hear!

The sidearm is the best gun in the game.

Bugger

Trying to get 10 kills with this test fusion rifle in the crucible is a lesson in frustration! I suck at fusions more than shotguns it seems.

Managed it first match. The range is poor, so control is good as you generally get up close.

Also did the Hakkar pulse rifle precision test thing.

The new quest/bounty tracking HUD is an absolute God send.

Fucking hell, Rift is plagued by muppets. Let's not focus on the Spark Runner guys, that one Defender Titan is his bubble who is blatantly there as a distraction is in need of attention. I'll do my very best to kill the Spark Runner and his four defenders. Ow how I wish for text chat. Firstly, to call my team members muppets a secondly, to tell them what to do. In a polite and informative manner naturally.

I like:

The new title screen.

The new music.

The smooth curves of the rental Rocket Launcher.

That Haake Sniper that highlights weak enemies.

HARD LIGHT :omg:

Elijah Wood

The shape changing pizza pie radar. Did you order 8 slices or 12?

I dislike:

Having to resort back to old-school blue class items. Fashion Souls FFS!

Pressing R1 to scroll right to see my Bounties...no, wait.

The bold font on the ammo count.

All those shaders just staring at me from behind greyed out icons.

Not being able to 'revive' dismantled Exotics even though i thought that was the whole point of blueprints. :quote:

Been trying to do some shotgun testing. Bit difficult as you can't just pick a level 34 daily, or a hard story mission right now. So, time for totally random 4th Horseman and Lord of Wolves comments based on PvE.

Originally, 4th Horseman was awful. No range, inaccurate, slow reload and never actually killed anything. With the shotgun buff, all that still applied, only if you unloaded a clip into something, it was pretty much dead. Now sadly it seems to have gone back to being terrible. Doesn't do enough damage to warrant being in blunderbuss range.

Had a few very brief seconds of invective action, really not sure.

Lord of Wolves beforehand was really good. Weird pulse shotgun thing, if you got the entire burst as headshots things melted. After the nerf...I will be honest it still seems very powerful. Much, much better than 4th Horseman in every way, plus you have the buffed extra recovery.

So of course 4th Horseman gets taken into year 2. Thanks, Bungie.

I know we have already had you guys give some feedback, but anyone had a bit more of a play with them? I don't want to overload on Destiny so I have just had a quick play before TTK comes out. I don't know if Lord of Wolves is an outlier or if Horseman just sucks badly again.

Extra random thoughts: I like the recommended light for enemies (lol Crota hard mode thrall is 160 - 34 makes you 150 light by default) and the music if you leave it in orbit seems to change a bit and become really, really good.
