Is the cap still fixed at 34? Just done some bounties and no xp gain.

I believe so.

I really must take an end of year 1 screenshot of my vault with every exotic weapon in it. Something for the album I will one day show the grandkids.

Once you've got a few Year 2 weapons the decision over what to get rid of will be easy. People are very reluctant to dismantle their beloved Fatebringers & Black Hammers right now but a week of them being obsolete will see them being consigned to history quite quickly, I'd imagine.

Bloody hell, everything's different & I don't understand any of it. I've spent so many hundreds of hours with this game that the numbers, stats, menus & interface are all burned into my memory, so to have it all changed up is a bit confusing & disorientating right now.

Automatically dismantled a blue (cos you know, it's blue so it's worthless isn't it...) Warlock bond that Ikora Rey gave me for talking to her a few times about something or other & then realised that it had a higher defence/light value than any legendary or exotic I already had. Didn't occur to me that it was actually a Year 2 blue item, so is a step above anything from Year 1 stats-wise. Bugger.

Had a quick game of Rift, which was bonkers & I agree that being in a team is going to be a must for that mode. Necrochasm still pretty shite as far as I could tell & there's little doubt that my days of dealing out death with the unstoppable combo of Hopscotch & Felwinter's are done.

Probably shouldn't get too attached again though because I've told myself that I absolutely refuse to pay & endorse the extortionate £40 asking price for TKK.

Some of the Year One class items have a high defence, like one I got from TTK at some point.

We spent about an hour doing patrols! It's like it's last October or something.

Loving the new structure, seems like loads to do even sat at level 34. Going to delete my Hunter tonight and start the campaign again to see how it all feels.

The exotic collection seems a bit off. I completed the Super Good Advice bounty for the first time like two months ago but it's not showing as discovered. I've had about a zillion Hard Lights, thought I'd kept one but apparently not - no sign of it. Which is a shame because on first inspection it's an absolute fucking monster in PVP.

Shotguns are still absolutely fine, was doing very well in PVP with a rangefinger Matador despite the nerf, and while they're not quite as monstrous in PVE they still wreck things up no probs.

Ah yes, remember how we looked as a lowly level 63 in Outland? That yellow hard hat was excellent though, I think my Warrior still has it.

edit: now is a good time to clear out the Vault. I find it difficult to decide what to shard. Exotics are unique and worth keeping (yes, even you No Land Beyond), but what about Legendary stuff? I have most of Crota's drops and I can not bring myself to shard it. But, when I apply that "logic" to stuff from Vault of Glass, Varik and the Queen I already have 55 spots filled.

Raid weapons yes, keep but the Variks and Queen stuff are proper gash. Get rid. Fatebringner and Fang though? Never!!!

It may be shit now, but I'm going to be buried with my Vision of Confluence, provided I find a cheap 3D printing service and also completely lose my mind at some point in the next fifty years.

Actually, does anyone know how the old raids work now? Will year 1 stuff like the VoG work fine with year 1 weapons, or will we have to move over to year 2 gear?

It seems there's no need to delete a character to play through the story again. There's a terminal in the vanguard hall to resume abandoned quests, I think you can start all the story quests from there, using the new quest system.

Yeah, I thought these were just some random missions that I'd half finished so did a couple in no particular order. Turns out it is the entire campaign and DLC missions. So I've redone some of the campaign now but in completely the wrong order, starting with that Reef cutscene. At least you can skip it now.

Not a fan of the He-Man & She-Ra Christmas special? My brother and I used to watch it all the time when we were kids.

So you only watched it as part of watching he-man (and with your brother), not gay then... phew ;)

If you are going to the trouble of having robots devoted to cleaning. Surely they can be given something a bit more sophisticated than a broom for that task. I am sure this is explained in the grimoire.

Omnigul is what I thought, but the Thrall do not drop Orbs when killed, do they?

Oh they do! Like confetti! but caps at 8 orbs.

Blast, I have to spawn 7 orbs with 1 Nova Bomb 3 times within 1 Strike. Closest I got is 2 in Nexus.

We've woken the hive! Loads of enemies clumped together there.

Did a wee bit with moose and marmite last night, liking it so far. Rift is utter mayhem, we lost all the games we played, last one was closest, and I even managed to "score" with the spark.

I bought a new ghost from the speaker and combined with the class item I was rewarded with it took me to 170 light, that seemed to be the highest I could reach. Sitting with vanguard and crucible ready to level on my hunter means I'll probably not do much on him this week apart from filling the bounty screen up. Good job I had the wrong Titan mark on running the nightfall pre patch and levelled the vanguard up!

I will play through stuff with him this week.

I was wondering (again) if there's really any point in doing any new quests/bounties before next week if you're already 34*3. Sure, you can get a new cloak, or whatever. But you could get those next week too, and also make actual use of the experience the completed quests give you instead of throwing it away. I was thinking of making an exception for the new Gunsmith quests, in order to prep for next Armsday, but are they not actually working yet despite the pre-patch notes saying they would?

I don't suppose any of it matters anyway really - there'll be plenty to get exp from next week. It's just... 6 hours still left to go for the download and I'm suddenly planning my post-work evening out.

On the 'orbs from majors in strikes' thing, why not use a similar tactic to the one I used to use for that fusion rifle exotic bounty in Nightfalls? Load up a strike, and ignore the actual strike part, instead going back to an area with lots of yellows. The obvious one is Sepiks, and retreating back to the starting point for patrols, going down into the bunker and offing the three Hive majors down there. Repeat twice. Would be annoying if you were in a fireteam of randoms, mind.

The update looks sweet Gorf. You are going to want to do everything before next week. They have done little touches to all audio and the world with new little light (ha) sources and graphical touches to the environment. Don't go out with friends, that's pointless.

I also got that impression, like they've significantly improved the texture filtering or changed the AA implementation.

Also, inverse kinematics on stairs! Truly 2.0.

I also noted enhanced female warlock bum animations when going sidewades on the sparrow. First thing I tested really.
