Destiny: FIN

Had a crack at 32 PoE tonight, none of us had any elemental primaries so it was a bit slow and we got to the final round! ........

But then I heard and felt a massive bang outside, there had been a head on car collision outside my front door so I had to run out and help, people were shaken and bruised up but not too badly hurt but appreciated the help (coats/brolly, tea and phoning services, nothing drastic needed thankfully)

As The wife and I got back in and we were tidying up she freaked out at a spider that crawled out from behind a hanging coat, for some reason feeling brave I immediately reached out and cupped it in my hand to put it outside and the bastard bit me! Secretly I am hoping for powers and this is my origin, in reality I now have a nasty looking sting mark and a new found hatred of arachnids.

Net result still no successful PoE 32 clear so umm still looking for another run sometime!

Oh and also can a couple of 'renegades' please do a strike with me just for the trophy sometime if poss :)

Yeah, I'd be up for both of those too. I tend to be playing Shadow of Mordor at the moment, but if I'm ever playing something else and you need an extra man just bung me an invite and I'll jump in.

(Buying the digital version of Destiny (on the PS3, at the time) was a good decision!)

We got absolutely slaughtered on trials yesterday. Starting relatively late meant frustration and recklessness came in quickly. Having not played much pvp, it's amazing they don't have a mode where you can pick a map so you can actually practice on it (of course you can practice through playing trials but you don't get a huge amount of time to settle in or try much without being super careful). Any thoughts on way they might have done this? I was playing skirmish with my bro for a couple of hours last night and the trials map didn't come up once!

I just play through it. I've found that it's taken at least one or two runs to learn where the best spots are, where to hold and where to flank etc.

Week 2 was surprisingly easy, maybe because it was a new map, maybe it's because one guy in my fireteam was Neo-like, but we had it locked down and got the 9-0 on our second run.

Try again tonight? 9pm for 9 wins?!

Think one of the biggest things on this is communicating quickly and clearly as well as knowing when to attack or back off to get back in the round. We had a fair few last night that we should have won but ended up giving away to bloody Warlocks reviving!

Sorry I haven't got back to you sooner man. Yeah I'm keen, I've text my bro and he usually gets home around 9 unless it's a bad day so will pm you around 8.30ish. Should be good to go and yeah I'm hoping tonight will be a bit better

Here is a smug post about my going 9-0 on Trials Of Osiris this afternoon. With a duff team, too - that donut guy is ok but I had to virtually put Wavy in a baby sling and lug him around on my back for nine games. Think he had a nap at one point. My shirt is covered in dribble.

(Thanks for carrying me, pals)

Well, I think Trials of Osiris single-handedly saves House of Wolves. It makes good on the promise that Destiny has of a competitive multiplayer game and I've had the best teamwork and the most shouty swear-filled matches since Halo 3.

As for tactics for Pantheon, speaking from the experiences yesterday, the moral is to always be aggressive. You want to try and control 60% of the map - the best place to push this is in the centre and try and keep them confined to the corridors.

Always split into a team of 2 and 1 - this is the best way to cover area and push. Positioning is more than half the battle and you can do a lot without even shooting into intimidating the other team. Try and split up in a manner so that a regroup to a team of 3 is close by.

I think this is the best opening gambit (mspaintlol):

post-163-0-52835300-1433186982_thumb.jpg

1 - Sniper checks sniper corridor and acts as bait/picks off targets at distance.

2 - Gets forward to scout and check radar - intimidate the opponent.

3 - Provides cover for 1) and 2) depending how the situation unfolds/mood

How this works:

Defensive Team sits in the corner of sniper alley bunched. I sit a high line at 60% of the map and call out team positions. They try to move outwards through mid but 3 has already joined me and we start to push further forward. Both sniper and us squeeze the team.

Offensive Team meets us half way and try to pin in mid with snipers. We sit slightly deep but still around 50%. We push forward only when we have the advantage and I do the boring job of watching over one corpse. 1 joins up early as he sees everyone is in mid. Offensive teams are always trickier, so you should always do the same!

I think it may be patched, but if its not you also would have to stick in orbit from reset time (10am) through to iron banner time (6pm) without going inactive and getting booted to the title screen.

I'm looking forward to iron banner this week. It'll be interesting to see how big a boost your secondary characters get when catching up to the main one. I quite fancy trying to get some etheric light on each character at level 3 and one to level 5 but with only 2 hours or so a night I'm not sure how possible that will be.

Personal goal achieved: Arc (fang of ir yut), Void (Word of Crota) and Solar (abyss Defiant) primaries obtained, yes I know I'm light years behind but that jut means I have all the more to look forward to :)

Next goals:

Do VoG a lot.
Do 32 PoE and onwards.
Not suck completely at PvP.

Fuck RNG!

I've ran that bastard bridge on Crota hard at least 20 times and never had Abyss Defiant drop.

Variks is selling Helmets with strength and a pulse rifle that does moderate bonus damage to shanks, what a dick!

Another week of lvl 33...

Yeah, nice trolling Bungie!

At least I can get my Hunter up to 34 without spending my 1 etheric light (365 Fatebringer!), though I'll have to upgrade those Radiant Dance Machines I've never used. Which are also full strength

According to the weekly Bungie update, Boots will be available in Iron Banner:

Iron Banner Strikes Back
Lord Saladin will be back in the Tower on Tuesday, June 2nd. He knows your PVP heart has been enthralled by the shiny lures of Brother Vance, so he’s bringing some new goodies to win back your love. Boots, Gauntlets, Fusion Rifles, Scout Rifles, and that elusive Etheric Light that you all crave...
