That's amazing. I logged in for the first time in ages. Caught Xur at the reef and got a new version Skull of Dire Ahamkara with the few motes I had left. Not bad.

Surely if you had the old version you'd shard the new one it and put it into your old one? It'd be fully maxed out.

Myself & LiMuBai need a 3rd man tonight for general HoW shenanigans; Trials or PoE 32 & up.

We should be on from 9:30 / 10.

I would be up for this. I'm 90% certain I will be on this evening :)

So it would appear that the levels make a large difference in ToS! You want to be a least a 33 and even then pray you aren't up against a full team of 34s. We got slaughtered with two 32s and a single 33.

Had my first ToO go today and it's a bloody load of fun! Only issue I had with it was our first loss, which was down to some terrible lag. Had all three enemies dead, floating Ghosts and all, and it'd take 5 seconds or more to actually register their death.

Managed to get the gold reward for 8 wins but wasn't enthused with the rewards. Some really shit ToO shotgun and a couple bits of Etheric Light.

With the ToO vendor rinsed, does it mean that the only rewards I can get now until next weekend are from a clean sheet and Lighthouse access?

Fired up Destiny properly for the first time in months today to check out HoW for the first time with my good gaming buddies. The hard work Bungie have put in thanks to the delay is evident from the very first new story mission. It's great that they didn't just have you retreading old ground like they did in the Crota expansion. Walking backwards through existing content changes everything.

To be fair, at least there were armoured Pikes and exploding Shanks (for the memories). Now that's how to do new content after a massive delay.

You'll obviously stick with it anyway, but a couple of the later story levels are really quite cool.

We really need a new planet & enemy type though, next expansion better deliver in spades as they'll need everyone to actually shell out for it.

Oh FFS. This makes perfect sense now, after I've sharded my old hats instead of the new ones.

Is it me or is Trials of Osiris fucking brutal?!

Started off quite well, communicated & had our strategy down, got to 6 wins, grabbed the chestpiece & silver tier (Etheric light, yay). But when we went back in we were continuously pitted against MLG-clan teams who were all 34 with 3300 grimoire score & they absolutely destroyed us. According to destinytracker I'm in the top 10% of players in the world, but I'm wondering whether this is because I almost exclusively play Control, know the maps like the back of my hand & have built up an innate understanding of the flow between control points. I've topped out at 40 kills in a game before, win the vast majority of one-on-one's & consider it a bad game if I don't come in the top 3 players in a match etc. but this was quite the humbling experience! I think my game just isn't suited to this 3v3 quick-fire format & I far prefer objective-based PvP with more of a focus on map control & strategy. Not really feeling this game-mode so far which is a shame, as I absolutely love Iron Banner.

The new story missions & strike are great though & you can see where the extra time went in making them more compelling experiences. It bodes well for that side of things going forward.

A bit underwhelmed by Prison of Elders though. It does what it says on the tin & does it well, but I'm just not sure if it's enough to hold my attention until the next major expansion, which isn't until autumn at the earliest. Vault of Glass remains by a considerable distance the high watermark of Destiny so far.

Overall it's a decent expansion & a definite improvement on The Dark Below & it fair chucks new gear at you. Very first drop I got after having prepped all my factions last weekend was the full-auto Dead Orbit scout rifle (AKA: the new Suros) and after a few hours I had new special weapons, new heavy weapons, new leg armour, new helmets, new chestpieces, maxed out my 5 favourite exotics & was pretty overwhelmed by all the options at my fingertips. Probably the best part of it is the way in which it's expanded the load-out choices massively with all the ascension & re-rolling mechanics.

My problem with Osiris was simply that I've always been appalling at no-respawn modes in shooters and so go out of my way to avoid them. I'm a bit raggo really and it's very hard to unlearn that when rounds are over in seconds. Wavy explained the flow of Skirmish matches last night and it made a bit more sense but I don't think my brain is ever going to work that way, I'll just keep on running round blind corners with a shotgun out hoping for the best while my team steadily loses patience with me. I'll stick to PVE!

This is what I don't understand.

The main way to get etheric light is to play Osiris.

The other way is to play PoE on 34/35 - now as a 33 I played PoE with two 32s and we got smashed and barely completed it. It was great fun but incredibly tough.

PoE on 34 is batshit crazy and we will give a go but I don't rate our chances till everyone is 33 which I reckon is a few weeks away as we do 32 PoE to get Armor Cores.

Plus I feel like Gorf King with the random drops as I've been getting a lot of new weaponary but for some reason the game seems to think I'm a sniper (or randomly it does)

5 x PoE with 5 keys has netted me plus Wolf Pack and Vanguard/Cryptarch level overs has earned me.

1 x exotic (Suros) so that was scrapped

Her Mercy (hand cannon)

Loner.Rebel (hand cannon)

Her Right Hand (Auto Rifle)

Hopscotch Pilgrim (Auto Rifle)

Pest Control Matrix (Auto Rifle)

One/One Synesthete (Scout Rifle)

Her Courtesy (Shotgun)

The Chosen (Sniper Rifle)

Amplifed Geo-D6 (Sniper Rifle)

Violator XII (Sniper Rifle) x 2

Subtle Nudge DN7 (Sniper Rifle) x 2

The Dreamwaker (Rocket Launcher)

So one exotic throughout over 30 hours of playing and a whole heap of guns that I can't upgrade because I can't get etheric light.

I may be done with Destiny.

Today is fusion gun day, 2x Plan C, 2x How Fusions and pocket infinity....

I also keep getting messages saying some armour has upgraded but when you go in the menu it hasn't - its all the new stuff so seems to think it is on the old upgrade path for the in game messages!

You only need ascended guns for content above level 34, 365 weapons are strictly for PoE 35 and level enabled PvP, 300 weapons obviously excluded. Ascend the top tier stuff, the Fatebringers, Visions, Efrideets Spears and Fang of Ir Yuts, you really don't need every single weapon at 365, you're damage is capped if you are over level, which you will be for everything bar PoE 35.

Are people really moaning because the game is throwing loot at them? Loot that can be rerolled to you're ideal weapon? This is like some parallel universe compared with launch or TDB.

I'm more concerned that the best pve primaries (elemental damage no less, for pvp?!? ) are now obtained from doing well in trials of osiris when the prison weapons that you can get from the vendor after doing the lvl 34 and 35 stuff (I assume) are kinetic.

Also people seem to be getting more etheric light from trials than anywhere else. It seems a bit lopsided at present towards pvp players, which is annoying because I am a pvp player, but dont have a regular team to play with in pvp.

This will be mundane to a lot of players with all the stuff they've done lately, but I'm thrilled that Urrox went down tonight on my first go at lvl 34 PoE. I have to thank Ben and Banjaxed for having a proper go at it even though we didn't start until really late on, and although not a thrill as big as nailing Atheon first time round, it's thrill enough that I'm going to indulge myself by posting the big guy's dying moments. (Obviously, if you want to go in clean this is a spoiler, so don't watch. And even if you don't want to, you'll learn nothing here; but I like to mark these occasions for myself somehow.)

Though I see Ben was so impressed he hasn't even mentioned his famous victory! I guess I'm just over-excitable about kicking the arises of big PvE bosses. But Yeessssssss! 365 Fatebringer here I come.

I actually came back in the thread to edit my post about it, but I dont need to now :P

I'm still well tempted to use my 2 etherics to get someone to 34, but I know I'll have levelled up the wrong bloody piece when next weeks armour is for sale. Really want a 365 Fatebringer so I'll probably cave.

Also, I see you managed to catch Banjaxed dying at the end
