Great play, guys. Really enjoyed it, especially the fact that we got through the damn thing in one sitting. And even more enjoyable was the suicidal 'let's get our last shots off against the boss even though we die in doing so' Butch Cassidy ending.

Now everyone who took part is obliged to join the Renegades, and we'll pop our clan-only cheevo next time. Next Tuesday?

Massively satisfying to finally get to do this, so thanks again.

That was brilliant. The raid done, start to finish, in three hours - with two of those being spent on that fucker Atheon. Would have been much less if it hadn't been so glitchy at the end. Still, we did it!

OMG, that was great. After last week's exploratory attempts, helped along by Weavus and many others, we got the noob crew together.

We blitzed through the opening, the Templar, the maze and the platforming in an hour. It took us two more hours to kill Atheon. Several bugs and glitches frustrated. A trip to the Tower was needed to replenish ammo. We had some audio issues and had to drop out to restore service.

But then, we finally got there. We had tried using the Relic to shoot Atheon directly, but we couldn't get the consistency. So we changed tack. Popped a boosting Defender bubble shield at the rear of the central platform, and the relic bubble at the front.

As the final countdown to clear the bubbles and get to safety ticked down, it became clear Atheon was a pixel away from death. We saw our chance. I think 3 of us died in the damage from his final shots, but Atheon succumbed.

Brilliant. One of the best experiences I've had in gaming.

And I got a Hawkmoon, an Atheon's Epilogue and a Praedyth's Revenge tonight, plus raid legs and chest last week. Feels good man.

Phew!

Thanks to semi-noob squad for all the fun.

We are now promoted to Laughter Force.

Excellent raiding tonight gents, thank you for hand holding me through the final boss- it was my first time.

Yup, seconded. I'd never set foot in the raid before tonight, so the n00b was strong in me. Thoroughly enjoyed it despite being a bit bewildered from time to time. Thanks for the patience and guidance.

Got three pieces of armor and a nice scout rifle. The thought of levelling it all makes me feel a bit ill.

I think the best thing about it is that it was the first time for all of us. So it was - without wanting to over-dramatise the event - really fucking special for everyone. You could tell by the massive roar coming from everyone's mics as the boss turned to ashes just as a few of us bought the farm that this was a special victory that we'd shared. It's great to do that when it's a fresh experience for everyone there. I'd love to repeat the raid (and will, if everyone's up for it, several times - if only to get some actual loot, god damn it), but however much loot I get after this, and however many new raids come along, this'll be the one I'll always remember.

Yeah, so I probably did over-dramatise it. But I actually will remember that one frozen moment in time when the big guy finally crumbled; the first split-second of when we whopped and hollered over his remnants; it's kind of a bonding thing when you all do something like this the first time after a lot of effort leading up to that one moment. This was one of those moments. Cheers for that.

Oh yeah, my 2nd favourite part of the raid (the first, of course, being the blaze of glory finish) was when we were finished and went back to the tower, and we all circled the first random we saw and started pointing at him repeatedly.

Raid finished for the first time! Thanks guys for an awesome experience.

The opening of the vault and the Templar were fairly straightforward. We had a few familiar with what to do and got organised quite quickly. The maze was the cleanest run I've been on yet. The platforming was troublesome for a few - including myself and that was after a deathless go in my previous raid.

The difficulty went up as expected and we faltered on occasion but this team was gelling well and we were getting so organised and so close to doing it.

On that last attempt, as soon as Atheon's health got down to that last third or so I just knew we'd do it. We were taking at least a third per turn. I might have spent three/four hours in total from three attempts on Atheon having to bail previously. That moment when he disintegrated was pure euphoria.

I've no idea how long on average it took for other players to beat the raid but it felt long and hard enough plugging away and failing to the smallest mistake (or bug[emoji34]).

Truly a great gaming experience, got to echo Mike's sentiments there.

(Sorry if this posts a mess. I've not felt the need to post a summary like this for a while and it's late for me)

Great first raid tales, love hearing them.

This was my most successful raid ever tonight, got the raid boots and chestpiece. Along with the gloves I have already it's next stop level 30! Got a mida multitool from a raid chest too!

I'd like to tackle the raid with my Titan this week too if anyone has a spare slot?

Grr I am so jelly of you guys getting the Mida Multitool. Its the only gun I want in the game atm.

finished our raid in under 2 hours. Would have been quicker had Atheon not bugged out a few times with sending only 2 people to Mars, teleporting myself to Mars and 2 other people to Venus once, and finally one person getting the blind debuff before being teleported even

Wish Bungie would fix bugs before changing the way a boss bloody works.

Oh and Banjaxed finally got some raid armour or something I think :P

Sorry late night raiders, I had to bail (early start tomorrow). Total noob at that last boss fight hope you manage to complete the raid.

Cheers to Donut et al for taking us through the raid tonight - very different going through it a second time when you know so much of it. Doing it in one sitting feels good.

Good stuff sirs! Shame you couldn't stay gos, we were so close to getting it nailed.

Got 2 raids done tonight, did it in record time with Harsin and co - 45 minutes!

Whatever the bugs in the raid (and there are many, which is odd considering the rest of the game's not the focus yet is relatively bug-free), you have to say that it's structured beautifully in terms of teaching by insinuation the various mechanics bit by bit as it goes along, and also in making what once seemed hopeless eminently doable after a bit of practice. Things that seemed impossible become possible, then straightforward, as you go along, and it's not because of levelling but simply because the raid forces you to master all sorts of skills and hone your responses, and up your game. You have to give Bungie a lot of credit for that.

I did a few basic missions after the raid just to catch up some bounties, and it felt like everything but me was in slow motion. Every shot was a headshot (that 100 crit kills bounty passed in no time), almost as if time was frozen - half of those crits were midair shots, which seemed effortless. My senses had been honed by the Atheon fight, and coming down to the level of mere mortals revealed everyday reality to be an illusion. Basically, the raid had turned me into Neo, and the non-raid game was The Matrix.

Of course, my batteries will run down overnight and I'll be back to my crap, normal self by tomorrow evening. But it was fun to be a god while it lasted.

Well done it was way past my bedtime (old man needs his sleep). Hated the Mario jumping section again !!

On the maze section at the start last time I played the raid we jumped up into a triangle shaped hole to get a chest - did we miss this chest yesterday?

Last boss fight I had no idea what to do so me quitting was just what you guys needed to complete the raid.

I managed to get enough energy to upgrade my void shotgun & picked up a nice purple rocket launcher so thanks.

Odd. Just did the nightfall and I swear Solar Burn is still on, as the enemies were dropping like flies to both Droodling's, and my own, Ice Breaker. Even the tank was super fast.

I tested this too with The Supremacy, Patience and Time and Preaedyth's Revenge.

Supremacy was doing over 2000 on the Tank wheels compared to about 800 and 1200 respectively for the other 2 rilfes.

To be fair though The Supremacy has about double the impact value of both of those snipers, The Supremacy is only the tiniest slither weaker than Ice Breaker.
