len save your coins if you have Atheons. I'm saving mine because my shadow price does a fine job plus I have 2 exotic primaries now.

I really need a legendary special/heavy.

Does anyone recommend the vanguard swarmachine gun or rocket launcher?

Yep, that's what I'm doing. Got another coin so still 2 short and ran out of time but after using Atheon's rifle for a while it is a bit of a beast so going to hoard those coins. Don't see any point in getting the chest armour as have the helm.

I've got the swarm and unfriendly giant rocket launcher, both seem good to me.

Don't know if they are good but I got an legendary scout rifle with solar damage and a exotic pulse rifle (Red death?) I can't remember names I maybe wrong.

Also a ton of ascendants.

Shame I didn't get any raid gear, hopefully next week.

Solar damage might be needed for the next raid. Worth levelling up :)

Hi - this is a long thread (and yes I have read the first post).

i love the combat in this game (only just started a level 4!) but don't get the online bit atall. (I'm not really an online gamer)

what's confusing me is randoms will pop up in my game then dissappear and never really help work toward the objective set (i bet this game kicks arse if thats what you are all doing).

are their any earlier learners in this thread that would be up for playing through the early game with me? could really do with some friends at the same level on this game.. as its pretty hard on my own.

PSN Name: Fluffyrussell

When you start a story mission you will always spawn into an ''open-area" here you will see other players. Some may decide to help you & some will be doing their own thing. When you advance further you'll enter a "darkness" zone, this is when you are on your own or with friends if you are in a fireteam (team of up to 3 players).

Apart from story missions you will later also get strike & patrol missions. Strike are tougher missions that will always be played with 3 people (randoms if not with friends) & Patrol is free-roam across the map.

I would like to start a new character so I'll send you a friend invite.

Ok, so I have about 130 Crucible Marks, but have realised that I'm only rank one and still a way off from being rank 2! I'm pretty sure I'll get to 200 Crucible Marks before I rank up, so will any marks I gain after that be wasted? Seems a bit shit :(

Yep 200 limit on marks is stupid

Great and thanks. That makes sense. ;)

Make sure you maximise your crucible bounties and you should be fine.

The 200 mark limit is annoying though, and not explained anywhere in game

Crap. The One is coming over and I need to look after her. Tomorrow night (early afternoon UK time) it is.

I'm in. Same time as Nate.

Last time I was in with you was my first time raiding on those segments so I was a little confused for a bit. I think I got there in the end but I'd understand if you want someone less prone to getting disoriented occasionally.

I'm so jealous of all you guys planning so many VoG raids. I haven't even done one yet because of 360 inactivity. :(

Managed to join a group courtesy of destinylfg.net this morning but then it immediately disbanded... Sigh...

If you're ever getting a raid group going on 360 I'm happy to come over and play there. I would guess Kryptonian would be too.

I gave the Crucible a good go yesterday and a bit today and still feel the whole experience is confusing, frustrating and unbalanced. It's the random nature of so much of the game that makes it frustrating; you have no way of knowing if someone's about to unleash a super, and the grenade cool downs feel contrived, preventing you from using them in situations which are appropriate. The ammo system for everything other than heavies is totally redundant - you always have plenty of special ammo so what's the point? I think they've also struggled to make the levels interesting in the absence of any focal points like weapons and power-ups. And of course, players at higher levels have various advantages through armour abilities etc. It's just weird that these issues came through the design stage and that you have to sink so many hours into the game to get to a level playing field.

Inevitably the game will be compared to Halo and I just feel it just compares really badly in PvP. Even basic things like the way health is represented on people is confusing, and why is it so hard to differentiate between teams! And why does matchmaking not work properly such that you're always matched against people levels 25-30? Seems like a lot that Halo 2 got very right was forgotten when putting this game together or abandoned simply for the case of trying to be different. I think it's ironic that Bungie split from MS on the basis that they wanted to do something different and ended up creating a poor man's Halo in many regards.

Much like the single player game, it feels like there's some nice concepts locked up in there somewhere trying to get out. But the execution is really confused at times and sometimes just feels like it's differentiating itself for the sake of it rather than because they have ideas that stand up on their own right.

I do like killing people with the Fusion Rifle though.
