I had an hour on this last night. No idea what I'm doing bar shooting stuff.

I went to do a low level mission (I was level 2) with enemies around level 3-5. Was going solo as getting used to it, but two guys appeared around level 26/27 and started blasting shit. Is this the norm or would it be peeps from my friends list? I was quite pissed so didn't really pick up their names.

Yes when on route to a mission you will initially spawn in a public area thus you will see other higher-levelled players. Once you get further along you enter a 'darkness' mode which is basically only you & any friends in your fireteam.

Ah, cheers! Makes sense. I'm new to always online kinda games, I was thinking whats the point in the mission if they're doing all the work, but I get it.

Each planet you visit will have story missions & a patrol mode (free roam) these will always spawn you at the same position on the planet. Strike missions are the only exception their spawn point is different but you will need to level up a bit to enjoy these.

Patrol mode will also give you various side-missions (Shoot X number of enemies, Scan a certain area, collect x number of drops etc) you can pick up & complete for experince, money etc. It is best to do these with the bounties you can get from the Tower (Central Hub area with traders, speaker etc) thus giving you more experience points & money.

Thoughts that the game hated me quickly faded when in the hour that followed I got Suros Regime from a purple engram dropped by a Psion, and a sweet legendary pulse rifle from a blue. We're cool, Destiny. We're cool.

Everyone I've been playing with seems to have a Suros Regime from a drop now. I hate you all.

Still, I did get raid booties and chest armour for my Hunter on Tuesday and gauntlets for my Warlock last night, so ner. Also, I have 5 Chatterwhites now. Boom.

I'm down for another normal and hard run with my Titan before the reset too.

I'd say if you got the nightfall bonus then you'll be able to get 2 motes by the time Xur leaves. I'm hoping he puts up the Icebreaker again as I missed it the first time!

Too soon for the ice breaker, he had that a couple of weeks ago.

Suros Regime I want.

I'm hoping Xur has this, I really need an exotic auto rifle.

Hmmm, I'm two Motes short of buying an engram from Xur. Why do I get the feeling the one weekend he sells a weapon engram, I won't enough motes to buy one?

There was a chap on reddit who seemed to find an exploit with xur by changing the clock of his PS4... It seemed to show what he would have on sale without letting you actually buy anything. I'm definitely ready to do the raid on hard and would happily join a raid team on Saturday during the day (between 12pm and 6pm) if anyone is interested? Can bring along another member if needed too.

These times are good for me. I know Lyrical was interested. I'll see If I can get anyone else.

Amazing evening for me last night, 3 legendary engrams which gave me two legendary weapons and some legendary boots…w00h00! Crpytarch must have been drunk.


I also managed to get to Vanguard level 3 (had forgot about this) so now can buy all those lovely legendary weapons from the Vanguard quartermaster in the hangar. Not sure what to go for but will be nice browsing. Tempted by the Comedian shotgun, seen good things said of this, still recommended?


Also have a few stupid qu’s:


1. Is it worth me upgrading past level 3 in Vanguard, if so what does it gain me as I now have access to all theses legendary weapons to purchase.


2. Should I change to one of the other factions and start leveling them? If I do will it keep my level 3 with the Vanguard, I assume it must?


3. Does leveling your legendary and exotic weapons with ascendant energy up your light level or is that just with your armour via ascendant shards?


4. The exotic and legendary weapons understandably take a lot longer to upgrade just by using them (or at least seems so) so I assume always better to keep upgrading via bounties as well or even more so?


So many questions. Had a week off, sort of, to play Fifa last week and have come back and feel even more consumed by it, so so good. :)


Oh and really need to do the weekly and nightfall if anyone if fancies it? Just give me a shout or come join, usually on around 7pm EST.


And also would love to do the raid this Sat as still not got any further than the actual vault itself a couple of weeks back. :( I have a 5hr+ window if anyone is up for it? Would be from around 5.30pm EST / 10.30pm GMT. Anyone, Bueller? ;)

1. I believe you get gifts from the Vanguard for levelling them, like you do with the Cryptarch. Not sure.

2. Sure, if you want. Be aware that you'll need Crucible marks to buy stuff off the factions, and although your rep gets combined, your Marks don't. You'll keep your rep levels with Crucible and Vanguard.

3. Weapons do not contribute to levelling, that is all in the armour.

4. A bit of both, I guess.
