Tbh a shot or two with that fusion rifle will bring down a preatorians shield which is really what you need the void damage for. Then it's a case of filling it with lead, are you packing a decent primary?

I've got a maxed-out lvl 20 hand cannon (242 damage), and some other stuff at level 20 at varying degrees of upgradedness. No legendaries or exotics.

The way weapons work is weird (according to the Destiny sub-Reddit). Basically take the last figure of the damage output and that's basically the level of the damage (ie. weapons with with 300 damage will do 100% of their impact against level 30 enemies). So really you want to be taking in weapons that are 260 damage minimum.

So, are we getting a raid together for first-timers tonight? I'd love to get in on that. PS4.

I would be up for that, level 26 here. Not even tried a raid yet, so would like to give it a go even if i am a bit underpowered.

Will be available from 19:30 tonight, PSN ID = Trokie

Is that really how it works? So basically you are saying that over 28 (seeing as I don't think there are currenlty any enemies above 28 in any of the PvE modes) you won't see a damage increase. Although that would explain why during leveling my legendary scout rifle it didn't seem to up the damage I did to low level enemies.

Bollocks, arc burn. Don't wizards give out arc damage? It's gonna be a bit of a nightmare this week.

I'm a level 25 (almost 26) and I have a Legendary Void Fusion rifle LIGHT/Beware (257 attack) and Legendary Rocket Launcher Unfriendly Giant (248 attack).

Would I be of use in a raid?

Weapons seem good, what's your primary? And I'd make every effort to get to 26, as the level 28 hobgoblins are gonna one shot you no problem.

Oooh, Arc Burn. Good thing I kept my Epitaph sniper rifle. My Comedian might come in handy too.

I have that sniper too, actually recently been thinking I need to find a better one as the impact on Epitaph is half of what my other legendary/exotic snipers are - on of my friends luckily has patience and time.

As far as heavy weapons go I only have Rare ones with arc damage :(

Got a Regulator Mk. 56 Hand Cannon (rare, 221 attack) and a Acheron SR5 Scout Rifle (rare, 219 attack) that I cycle between.

I got Legendary pantaloons playing Crucible last night! As exciting it is to climb up towards Level 26 I'm disappointed that my Hunter (who once looked like Death incarnate in a complete matching set of Rustburner armour) increasingly resembles a hobo who has been stealing clothes from a both janitorial supply company and a professional clown outfitters.

So unfortunately the Xbone Raiders had to leave Atheon standing last night as it was getting late. It did all begin to get a bit Monty Python with seemingly everyone trying to out-do each other with how early they had to get up in the morning! '7am, you don't even know your born. I have to get up a 5am, milk the cows, feed the dog, run a marathon, then go to work in the mines.......'

Anyway for what it's worth here are my overall impressions of the Raid as a concept and then playing the Raid with the people I did.

The Raid is just utterly brilliant, fantastically well designed and full of really great ideas. You are forced not only to work as a team but to actually think. There isn't really ever an option to find the place the adds won't enter (as there is in the Strikes) and slowly take everything out. You first have to work out the mechanics of each encounter (which in itself can be a real challenge) and then put a plan together where pretty much everyone has to know what they are doing and stick to it. It's just amazing how over time you can go from having no idea what to do in a section, to working it out but thinking this is going to be impossible to co-ordinate or just seems unfair, to nailing it as everyone does their job.

Playing with other people with a similair mind set then just raises all that finely honed design to a new level. I seriously haven't had this much fun with a game in years and years (probably since playing Halo 2 multiplayer with some of the same people). In between all the seriousness of trying to work out and co-ordinate there was plently of time for laughing and joking, Panda failing to make the first jump in the Raid, pushing krypt (I think) to the very edge of the platform before the templar when he was away, people 'wacking' themselves off in confinment shields, Mr Do swearing his head off as he got lost in the dark trying to get out of the Templar section. Also in the templar section everyone stood around staring at the relic not wanting to be the one to have the responsibility of picking it up.

But top props go to the random who helped us with defending the plates at the very beginning of the Raid. After we cleared it he stood by the entrance and waved us off. I like to imagine he is still there helping other travellers on the first part of their journey.

I can't wait to actually complete this Raid and to be honest am now really excited by what Bungie will come up with next. It's just taken a game I already really liked a lot and pushed it to a completely new level.

In other news, the raid was pretty buggy and frustrating last night, again:

Entire portal team unable to pick up relics.

Not getting teleported back to where we came from.

Occasionally getting 2 team members teleported, instead of 3.

Relic shield magically switching itself off as we tried to hammer Atheon.

Losing a rocket with each respawn.

Now with more added randomness with today's update :(

I've been trying to-do the level 26 summoning pits for thorn all week. It's murder.

You will need a blade dancer for thier arc grenades to get the Knights shields off instantly, it's pretty effective. I've got an Rare arc sniper upgraded and a Legendary Arc or Solar Heavy machine gun. The speed in which the wizards attack is just disgusting.

Sign me up for a run abut 7pm tonight!

Yep the randomness is a baffling decision. As Metallicfrodo above says the whole fun of the raid is getting a plan together and working together to put that plan into action. Teleporting people randomly is imo a way to introduce an artificial difficulty level as Bungie are not happy people are completing the raid so fast.

We had one time that it totally glitched out for us. And a couple of times the teleport back glitched but apart from that in about 3 hours of play we didn't really have any issues, apart from our own ineptitude.
