I don't think you get more shards if you level up an armour piece, I think it is still only 2 shards.

If that's the case then I apologise for the misleading info - haven't had a chance to test it yet, so was just following the logic of what happens with normal materials.

I'm currently in the process of levelling an unneeded pair of Legendary boots, but not there yet. So if someone else gets to test this first, please report back. :)

I bet I get a chest armour for hunter or warlock when I decrypt.

I've not done it myself but reading from various threads on the bungie forum some players have gotten 2 shards & some 3 but nothing more.

Its only the chest I've been after since I saw it on the full list of exotics a Titan could get.

I've finally got enough coins to buy something off Xur and being a hunter I'm tempted by the Achlyophage Symbiote. I think I'd rather have the Knucklehead Radar helmet though that gives you "Radar remains visible while aiming primary weapons" (plus it looks cooler).

Has Xur already had the Knucklehead for sale? If not I might hold on in the hope that he has it next week.

Yep go buy it, I want Alpha Lupi but if no joy with the Engram I'll buy this chest plate.

Screw it, got both now. Will see which I prefer (Alpha Lupi looks nicer, but I really like that grenade perk on the other).

Hoping I get both, I'll use Alpha Lupi for Raids/Nightfall & Arma$%^ium (whatever it's called) for everything else.

I got it from the helmet engram he sold a couple of weeks ago. Worth saving those motes as well as the coins!!

He has sold the Knucklehead before, but the symbiote helmet was for sale last week as well I think, so what he has in stock each week seems to be pretty random.

He had it two weeks ago along with Suros Regime. I got both, great combo!

Just bought The Armamentarium. That grenade perk is too good to resist! I can't equip it until I find a suitable alternative for my exotic helmet, annoyingly. I'll probably save up for a legendary Vanguard helmet and just wear any old blue drop while I wait. I spent my motes on an exotic engram and got a Hunter helmet. Curses.

My quest is at an end. Finally I have it. Just need to level it up now.

Only other exotic armour I can see me using apart from my Alpha Lupi is that helm that blinds enemies that come into your ward of dawn. Did Xur sell that a few weeks ago, or did I imagine it?

Apparently, for those after it, Xur does indeed sell The Last Word hand cannon exotic. He hasn't yet, but someone found a way to show what he can sell by altering the time on their Playstation. Apparently it only works for setting the time backwards, not forwards, and you cant buy anything off him.

Took a gamble on the engram and got... Armamentarium... however its better than the one he is selling as it haa 20 or so more discipline. Good job I bought that first and saved my coins!

Finally made it to 28, up for a raid now, anyone doing one tonight (PS4)? Will be on from 8ish.

I have a Titan at level 10 as I got an Exotic Helm for it last week, but you can only have one exotic armour piece equiped at a time right? My Hunter is pure jealous...

Correct only one armour & one weapon equipped.

Well, I'm definitely not buying the warlock helmet, it's all melee and the sunsinger super. No thanks. :lol: So got the engram for 23 motes and got ... Lucky Raspberry, for a hunter. I toyed with the idea of keeping it in case I start a hunter, but the armour looks shit. So i dsmantled it and got just two shards!! I get 3 from basic vanguard armour? :hmm:

Still, level 29 now, thank you very much.

Usually you only get 2 shards, its random if it gives you another one or not (nothing to do with levelling the armour up btw). With weapons, level them up to full (don't spend ascendant energy, just level them up with xp) and then dismantle them for a fair bit more energy than normal, plus the chance on getting a weapon telemetry for that weapon type.

Am up for a raid tonight. Lets just hope PSN doesn't throw a wobbly again.
