Xur should really sell Relic Iron and shit. It's what the market wants.

Not that I necessarily think you're wrong, but being able to buy materials would fundamentally change quite a lot of the game. Mainly because mat farming done intelligently isn't just a case of looping round the spawn points autistically for the half-hour it takes to gather 30 relic iron or whatever. Because doing that means you've then got another dull grind to autistically grind vanguard rep or marks or whatever. The smarter way to do it, it seems to me, is to be doing all the things at the same time - pick stackable bounties, do patrol missions, find mats. progress everything. Plus, on materials runs, you often pick up other unintended things - strange coins, engrams etc.

I dunno. Sometimes I'd love if I could buy a pack of 25 spirit bloom. But I think it would change a lot of other systems.

I called Xur the Shadow Santa earlier to my mate, which got me thinking about what I'd like to see from him at actual Christmas.

  • He'd wear a red suit, obv.
  • All weapons previously listed available to buy.
  • Primary weapons for the usual price of a special weapon (17 coins)
  • Special weapons for the usual price of an armour piece (13 coins)
  • Armour pieces for 10 coins OR 23 motes of light.
  • Exotic armour engram half price (well, near enough) at 13 motes
  • Random special occasion exotic weapon engram for 23 motes.

The thing with planetary materials is that hunting round is the only way to get them. Most other stuff (Coins, Shards etc) tend to drop when doing more challenging, higher level activities. Patrol areas just have easy-peasy low-level baddies. I guess maybe Bungie want to ensure that the shared areas are populated, and perhaps envisions strangers signalling each other when they find chests.

I think if there was more happening in the shared areas I wouldn't mind so much. Varied enemy spawns, higher-level instances, more random events, maybe even a PVP event where everyone is able to start fighting each other.

And a Saphire Wire stall in the Tower.

You don't have enough saphire wire?! I think I have something crazy like 500 bits! I never seem to have to use them.

Different classes break down items to different base ingredients. Sapphire Wire is what Hunters get. If you have too much best stop breaking the stuff down and put it in your bank instead.

I've taken to only breaking down greens and levelling up blues by wearing them when turning in bounties, and putting them in the bank when they have all upgrade slots open.

When my bank's full I'll jump to my level 3 Warlock and start stocking up on whatever they get for breaking stuff down.

Doing it with blue weapons, too.

If anyone buys the engram, be sure to let everyone know what it is.

Praxis Fire (Warlock) is being mentioned quite a bit on Bungie Forums along with Alpha Lupi which I really want.

Do I take the risk, I have 31 mote of lights.

Are mote of lights useful for anything else?

Had a crack at vault of glass earlier. Spent the entire time not knowing what the hell was going on and just trying not to get everybody killed. Spent a good 10 to 15 minutes trying to get across the platform/chasm thing, only when I got to the end did I realise the whole fireteam had been waiting for me

I feel sorry for the people who figured out how to do this the first time round.

I'm not going to stop breaking down greens, why would I? And levelling up blues is a waste of time, resources and would drop my level massively as they contain barely any light. So blues get broken up too. [edit] just seen your bit about breaking down upgraded blues for your other characters, never thought of that to be fair, nice enough idea.

If you have Alpha Lupi, why do you need Armamentarium unless you don't use auto rifles for your Primary?

What's more use full, 2 grenades and extra heavy and special ammo, or being able to fast revive on a class that can take huge amounts of damage, has an over shield perk and a huge purple impentrable shield, both of which allow easy revives? Its not even a contest.

If you're a Warlock there's some really nice(?) gaudy armbands waiting at The Speaker for you, a mere 25 motes each.

I expect there will be more to spend motes on in the future.

I thought the material you got was based on the items class. I'm sure I've had the plating from breaking down Titan armour with my hunter.

That stuff (armour) drops no matter what you're doing, so you just have to play the game to get those materials. Granted, you get a hell of a lot more in PVE than PVP though.

It does.

I like the auto rifle ammo increase on Alpha Lupi because it's my primary weapon but I may end up changing my mind when I go online this evening.

I'll save the motes of light for now, don't want to risk wasting them for some warlock or hunter armour. I've only got the one Titan character (no way I have time to invest in creating another).

What else is there to spend them on, anything good?

The Speaker has some items, I've not checked what he has for Titan but otherwise I'll keep just in case something pops up in one of the other vendors for Titan Class. I don't want to take the risk on an engram just in case it unlocks for hunter or warlock class.

But you can get boots or arms with the extra auto rifle ammo perk. 2 grenades!

I'm going to go for that Titan Chest I think. The perks seem decent and I'm hitting a wall with my upgrade from 27-28 at the moment. My only reservation is that I will be replacing a pretty decent Queens Armour chest, albeit with no perks I really use.

Guess I can just scrap the Queens stuff for some shards though right?

Also tempted to do my motes on the engram. Guaranteed it will come up Hunter or Warlock, but I have nothing else worth spending them on anyway.
