Morning all - I'm less frazzled this morning after that epic night.

I've been playing games at home since my Jupitar Ace, ZX81, CMD 64 days and I've got to say the whole 5 or 6 days of the vault has been one of the most memorable gaming experiences I've ever had. The feeling of total confusion as each area is so different, is initially overwhelming - you think that you'll never do it. Then, slowly it starts to click... after Saturday nights shambles, the 6 of us became a coherent team with a plan. It just felt so good to bring that bastard down, and especially good that I got to nick his gun.

I had no intention of purchasing the DLC for this game, but is the other raids are DLC only, well, I'm in...

The thing I like about Control is that, where in other shooters capturing territories makes a timer tick up, here it just adds a multiplier to your kills. So even though the compulsion is to attack the zones, you don't have to.

Say, if you're winning and the enemy has two zones to your one, you can in theory all just hunker down at your base and wait for them to come to you, because controlling the zones means nothing if they aren't also killing you. And in turn that draws them away from their spots, making them easier to capture.

Nice twist on a familiar format.

I did not know that!

Actually, I'm fairly sure that the act of capturing a territory also adds to your score. Your tactic would still work though as if your team wasn't capturing zones then there would be no zones for the opposite team to capture, if you see what I mean.

Yup.

If you got a bonus score for holding a territory every few minutes that would change the dynamic. But I don't believe that's the case. So holding one spawn is a valid - if risky! - tactic as it stands.

Not that I've tried it yet. But there have been a few times - especially on the Firebase Delphi map - where we've gotten a lead up and then some idiot has captured the zone we didn't want, resulting in the spawns switching and the other team slowly whittling away at our lead. In that situation, where you keep crashing like a wave against a robust defence it might just be best to make them chase you instead.

Looking forward to trying it out. :D

I managed to get enough vanguard marks to upgrade my boots but I rushed purchased & it's unlock is for Pulse Rifle Ammo which I don't really use. Thankfully I got a rare auto rifle yesterday Shingen-E & my sniper rifle with The Swarm for a heavy weapon is all I use.

The point of my post is think before you buy it takes ages to get those marks required to buy the armour/weapon you want. Also don't waste your materials & more importantly shards/energy upgrading what you have currently equipped if it is not what you want for your character. Bide your time & save your marks/strange coins to purchase what you really want.

Damm this game, It's like crack !! I want to be at home playing it now.

I really like the idea of trying to get through the raid with a team of six people who haven't done it before, working it out as we go rather than reading up too much on it beforehand.

I realise it's probably naive to think there'll be five others who are up for that who haven't done the raid yet at this point, but thought I'd throw it out there just in case. I'm at level 27 so pretty much ready to give it a go but also happy to wait for others to catch up if there's any interest.

I'm about half a level away from being able to buy some Legendary socks from the Vanguard seller which I'm hoping will give me enough of a Light boost to put my into Level 27 - if thats the case I'd happily join you as what I've seen of people playing the Raid hasn't exactly made any sense so far. Add me up!

So does Iron Banner stop from tonight? I seem to be making steady progress, hit 26 last night after picking up a Legendry Helmet and buying Lucky Raspberry from Xur. Weapon wise I have two legendry Heavy weapons (Rocket/Machine Gun) and a scout rifle which seem to take an age to upgrade especially with most of the bounties being PVP.

Doing Tiger strike playlist with randoms which is pretty decent. Should be on most nights for the weekly/daily strikes or perhaps some raids after it resets.

I'll be happy to join, Titan Lvl 26 but really would like to get a legendary armour & weapon before I even think about trying the raid.

Glad everyone got the raid down over the weekend, I've just not had the time to commit to it properly and felt like I was abandoning folks when I had to shoot off :(

I Love VoG, your first time through you feel useless, but with a great fireteam you get pointers as they shout out instructions, designate where and when you need to do stuff, and a lot of laughing as rookie mistakes are made, etc. But then it just all comes together, and the shared experience is second to none. I'm always up for it time permitting, during the week seems better for me than at the weekends just now, so you know the drill :)

I'd be happy to join you giving it a go too. I'm level 27 now and have the exotic Lucky Raspberry body armour and other legendary armour upgraded at least half way each. I also have legendary primary and heavy weapons mostly upgraded. I'm hoping it's enough for it.

I will admit though that I've played a small part of beginning of the raid though but we had to quit early on.

I'm disappointed after putting a fair amount in to Iron Banner that I won't be able to reach Rank 3. It looked at one point I might be able to do it but realised last night I'd have to win every match and every bounty in the playing hours I had left before the end to even stand a chance. Not something I could realistically see myself doing.[emoji20]

Reminder: there's PSN maintenance scheduled between 6PM-1AM BST. If you've recently logged in online play should still work, but as some people run into issues I figure it's worth tempering expectations for last minute Raid attempts.

Any 360 players around to help me kill Xyor the Unwed? It's a level 26 strike on the Summoning Pits. I'll be around most of today.

Bit late on this, but drop Gaz (gamertag Giggaloop) a friend request. He's on 360 for another few weeks until the white Xbone comes out and he gets my black One.

What does the reset actually do? Does it just mean you have the quest in an incomplete state again?

It resets your progress, so if you go back to the Vault of Glass as party leader you don't automatically spawn at your last checkpoint.

That's the bad news. The good news is that, while you do have to battle your way through again, you can also get all of the associated item drops. Shard-Me-Do! :D

There's (iirc) at least one chest on the way down to the first boss, so if you're lucky on shards from it you might even be able to get more upgrades in just for opening the Vault door. :)

Great work on the raid last night guys, that run was utterly blessed on the basis that it was really really (for realsies) the last run of the night, we got Mars every time on the teleports, and for the first time I didn't job to oracles when I got teleported!

Up for any and all PS4 raiding over the next week including tonight, my tag is Willei3K. I'll usually be around 8pm onwards, though I should warn that I've only got experience of the final stage of the raid.

Just ordered a PS4 and a headset just to play this, looking forward to them arriving tomorrow!

Anyone up for helping me do the weekly nightfall strike (never done one before, level 27 so will need some help!) tonight from about 8pm on PS4 before it resets for the week? PSN: WeavusMcStevus

I need it done. Think Hardbattle needs it too, maybe others. Sniping is the way to win the whole thing, especially useful is the Ice Breaker Exotic if you have it. Whole thing is a cake walk to the last boss with that.

Speaking of Ice Breaker, there's a trick with it and any special weapon that I theorised would work, and when tested it does. If you have zero ammo for any special weapon simply equip the Ice Breaker, wait for it to regen to 6 bullets, then swap to any other special weapon. You should get at least 50% ammo with that swapped weapon. This can be repeated as many times as you like with no penalty, effectively giving you infinite special weapon ammo :)

Edit: The above trick should work with the Invective shotgun too if you've unlocked the perk on that to regenerate ammo.
