I wouldn't hold out too much on the weapons gospvg.

You're going to want a variety of weapons depending on what enemy type you're going against. You can always get away with not levelling the weapons up all the way.

Whereas switching out armour is a lot less effective, considering their effects aren't as great. Plus, you'll need to level your armour up all the way to reach light level 30, which means swapping it out is a bad idea (unless you fucking love farming shards ;))

It's taking me this long to get enough strange coins to be able to purchase something from Xur, I'm not sure getting another solar sniper rifle is wise when I already have a solar sniper rifle.

I'd rather save the coins to see what Xur brings with him next week just in case an auto rifle or the Crest of Alpha Lupi armour is available.

Anyhow it's been enjoyable looking at the various different exotics on that link you posted earlier & I can't wait to get online this evening to do the weekly strike.

I have super good advice and the recoil makes it borderline unusable! Maybe I can steady it up a little when it's levelled but at the moment i'm not impressed.

The second set of upgrades is all to do with recoil which should help. I like the Crowd Control & Super Good Advice upgrade on the weapon

I don't understand this, what the hell have you been doing all this time? The other night I hit rank 6 with the Vanguard. Everyone who had the game at launch should easily be rank 3 by now unless they've been hammering the Crucible.

I only hit Vanguard literally a couple of nights ago, and I'm a 27 - almost 28. Took even longer to pop 3 on Crucible. Did that last night!!

I didn't really take out any bounties in my first week, though. Didn't get their usefulness. So that could have something to do with it...

I'm only rank 2 (I think - where can i see this in the app?) and do loads of bounties and currently lvl 26, a smidgen under 27. Seems to take forever like K says. Not even looked at other factions yet, should I be?

Also what is the quickest way to get those strange coins, only have 10 but would love to get that sniper rifle?

Weekly Strike will give you 3 Strange Coins I think (lvl22) six (lvl26) & nine (lvl28)

Otherwise it is just the drops or decrypting engrams

I'm only level 1 in Crucible as well. I do loads of bounties too - at least one per session.

The crucible rep is incredibly slow. The amount of rep gained for a win / bounties in comparison to running patrol missions / bounties for vanguard is way off.

Right. As Moz says, to get to rank 1 you need 1500 rep points; rank 2 it's 2000; and then after that it's 2500 for every rank.

Today's Vanguard Bounties alone will net you a minimum of 410 reputation points. They're easily double if you're lvl 20 plus.

That still doesn't explain anything. Someone could easily be level 25 but only have time to do 1 or 2 bounties a day, and therefore, only rank 1 or 2.

And I'm rank 6. I'll ask again, what are you doing? As someone else mentioned, are you wearing a bond, cloak, or whatever the titans wear for a faction? When doing the Bounties, you should not be. Are you even doing the daily Vanguard Bounties?

Playing it when I want?

I am wearing class armour 'Eye of History'. Is that what you mean?

No I am not doing the daily vanguard bounties. I try to do a bounty or two when I play it, if it suits the mission I am going to play.

Patrol is the best way to get reputation, drops and mats. Plus do any events that pop up, and of course make sure you grab all the relevant bounties for the area you're going to!

I'm rank 3 with Crucible, Vanguard, FWC and 2 and a half with New Monarchy. Not touched Dead Orbit yet. Also rank 1 with the Queen, and rank 2+ for IB. Sticking with one faction is kind of silly when you get access to all their weapons at rank 3, and a lot of them have weapons that are better than the other factions, such as Dead Orbits machine guns being by far the best that I've seen (I've been lucky and got 2 of theirs, without even getting any rep with them).

One per session.

I try to max out all of my Vanguard and Crucible bounties each day. I reckon I do at least four of each on average a day, playing at least five days a week. And even then it took me a good three week's grind to get up from just past level one to level three on each.

The VIP missions are, anyway. They give 25 rep. The others give 10.

He means the class item - bottom right of your inventory.

You can buy these from the three factions and when you wear them, any XP you earn doing missions or crucible level up that faction's vendor instead. Those vendors have cool weapons you can't get anywhere else. So it's a way of getting specific Legendary gear.

The benefit being that you can earn that rep twice as fast as Vanguard or Crucible, since playing both PVE and PVP contributes to your rep with that faction.

Ok then.

I'm not saying "You're doing it wrong, PLAY LIKE ME!"

My view is that if you take them out and just play the game, you'll do half of them without even trying to.

I'm only rank 1 Vanguard too, though I did rank up Future War Cult as it felt like it would be a quicker route to legendaries. So it proved.

Even if you're hoovering up bounties left and right then progress is pretty slow, i reckon. Starting at rank 0 is dumb, especially when there's, what, one thing you can buy at level 1? And nothing of use at level 2.
