Was just on the end boss on the nightfall and the servers just became unavailable and kicked me out.

I'll be disappointed if this is one of those mmo games where you have to put in however many hours to make any noticeable progress at all.

I would be very surprised indeed if it didn't return. After all, I believe there were only helmets, chest pieces, sniper rifles and spaceships up for grabs this time around.

I hope you are right, I would hate to think I ground/grinded all those 'kill 200 enemies with headshot' bounties for nothing Aside from that whistling kettle sound as they heads pop

The App is your friend here, it features a weekly update from Bungie together with all your character stats and details of the current bounties etc; very useful all round.

I was in a Fireteam with Spatula and Harsin earlier, they both said they saw in game messages regarding the servers going down when we went back to orbit. I didn't, though.

Nowt in-game for me, don't use the app much as it's slow and not optimised for iPad despite there being potential for Smartglass use in the game. Or Vita, for that matter. Why isn't this stuff standard?

I don't think it'll require as much commitment as Queen's Wrath. The Iron Banner bounties do tend to be harder than the regular Crucible ones but most players should be able to complete at least one or two each day, plus you get rep for finishing and winning matches.

Hitting Rank 1 can easily be done in a few games, at which point you unlock the first Shader and Emblem which each boost reputation gains by 10% when equipped. If you played with a few 'mukkers, meaning there was some semblance of actual teamwork, I'd guess you can hit Rank 3 in about 10 hours or less over the course of a week.

Not a thing that is pissing me off, but I could really do with a legendary or better weapon. I have bean using the same weapons since I hit 20. I am 26 now.

Finally found a legendary special weapon engram, turned out to be upgrade material. Any type of weapon would have been fine, really. Even the worst legendary is better than the blue shit I have now. But alas, I now have upgrade material I can not even use. Thanks.
