From the envelope? There's a chance for that, sure. But I'm almost rank 10 with the Cryptarch. I fully expect to get at least one purple engram when ranking up. If I do that post-patch, it will be a purple item.

I get blues from them all the time, including two blues at least once.

Re; purple drops will remain the same but instead of blues it will give ascendant materials, strange coins and motes of light. Actual legendary items will probably stay the same.

In case this hasn't been posted already... fast, infinite spinmetal farming here:

Basically hog the left wall when you go into Rocketyards, then turn 'round, go back to The Divide, and then go back in again and the chest/spinmetal will have respawned. Repeat ad infinitum.

Didn't work for me. The spawn points are random, and mine were nowhere near those in the video. And not always two chests and a spinmetal plant either. So going back to the divide and back into the rocketyards did sod all. Nothing reset (well apart from the servitor and the Hive majors of course). Given up on trying to farm that particular place.

Faster than searching about for them maybe, but still a bit of a ballache, all that to-ing and fro-ing.

The method used by the guy who made the Mars run just above works pretty well. Instead of going back and forth you just hug the wall around the Rocketyard, checking rooms, collecting spinmetal and shooting fools. It doesn't take long and by the time you're back at the start point the chests will have respawned. I got loads of spinmetal and quite a few blue engrams from it, a ton of uncommon weapons and there's the occasional chance of odd things like ship blueprints and items of interest to the Cryptarch.

It was enough to level me up to 3 with the Cryptarch and I lucked out on a legendary set of boots. I totally fist-pumped and everything.

Had a feeling the mars video would be the place I go to get relic iron.

The best venus farm spot is the place where all the vex and fallen are fighting each other near a crashed ship. Its the place you start in to do the Nexus strike I believe. Just do laps around the outside area, checking rooms and grabbing the green crystals where you can.

Handed in most of all the blues I had and got a bunch of coins and motes a legendary rocket launcher (my 1st ever legendary rocket launcher, its always been machine guns) and a legendary titan mark.

Unfortunately the patch seems to have removed all legendaries from the reputation level up packages - every single one was a blue. Either that or my luck was terrible.

I cashed in my Cryptarch packages before the update and got some Legendary boots (which have an ugly stripe which overwrites the shader, bleurgh), and a duplicate Legendary Pulse Rifle. Oh well.

Side note: Ascendant Shards and Energy are now shown purple/Legendary.

No worries Mr LeChuck, got some strange coins and even had a legendary weapon drop from a legendary engram. Madness.

If you don't mind someone who hasn't done the raid before, I've got a level 27 Titan and too much free time this week.

Hey Mood, still looking to do this? Also if anyone is looking to join the raid gonna start it at 7:30 and there is only one space vacant so act fast.

ok so far we have Me, Chuchu, Donpeartree and Moodmon confirmed for raid shenanigans. Anyone else up for a raid? Lyrical donut do you want in?

I can probably help out in an hour or so, I've already done it this week so it's probably better for someone else to join. Don't mind hopping in if you lose a player though.
