Destiny: FIN

The saddest thing is I don't get excited now by purple engrams, just a sense of dread it's going to be another blue sniper rifle.

Purple will mean purple from the next patch, which should be this week.

Here's the boss finally going down, minus the first couple of minutes.

I really need to stop reloading every two seconds.

The best bit is when we try to take a photo and get photobombed by some guy

Edit - YouTube seems to have chopped the video up out of sequence somehow. But you get the idea. Also it sounds like I'm talking to myself because I set the other voices to headset only. Gah!

Having some problems with the Crucible.

When I started in the Crucible I did terribly, then as I got to learn the maps and get used to the weapons I found that I improved (as you would expect). I wouldn't say I was doing brilliantly, but I was managing to come about halfway up the table in most matches.

Cut to the past two evenings and everything seems to have gone awry. The speed with which I'm getting killed in a one-on-one scenario is ridiculous. As soon as I come across an enemy player I start firing and in an instant I'm dead. I realise this is a common complaint with people that aren't that good at PvP, but I honestly think something is up. At one point there was an enemy player just standing there not moving, so basically an easy target, and I proceeded to unload an entire auto rifle clip into his head. He died eventually, but it took pretty much the whole clip before he went down. Obviously in some cases there may be a good reason, such as coming up against someone with a shotgun at close range or even a pre-charged Fusion rifle, but this was happening far too often over multiple games. In some matches I would get three quarters of the way through and have zero kills or even assists!

Now if it ends up being that I'm just rubbish, then fair enough, but considering I was doing quite well last week, it doesn't seem to add up.

Anyone else having a similar problem?

I have to say, im really struggling to get my Crucible and Vanguard points adn ranks up, so i can get access to the good stuff.

whats the quickest way to get ranked?

Try this article: http://destinynews.net/guide-to-destinys-patrol/

You get Vanguard Points for each Patrol mission, as well as for the bounty when you turn it in at the end.

The trick becomes picking bounties you can stack, and doing them on Patrol missions that also maximise Vanguard Points per time invested.

In a nutshell, for Vanguard Points...

  • Take out the "Do 6 patrols on [specific planet]" bounty along with other bounties that ask you to kill enemies on the same planet - so you're doing multiple bounties at once.
  • Look primarily for the "VIP" Patrol missions (star icon) - these give 25 Vanguard Points per completion, where the others give 10.
  • Other quick patrol missions are the "kill everything" ones (diamond shape with four triangles) and item missions - which basically also involve killing things (triangle icon).
  • Avoid the "scan" missions (ghost icon) and "survey" missions (compass icon) - these take the longest.

So say you take out "6 Patrols in the Cosmodrome" (50 rep) along with "Kill 100 fallen with precision shots" (100 rep), "Kill 30 enemies with melee attacks" (50 rep), and "Get 9000 experience without dying" (50 rep). Do those on Patrol with 2 VIP missions (25 rep each), 2 kill missions (10 rep each), and 2 item missions (10 rep each)...

Total for all that lot weighs in at 340 Vanguard Points for about an hour or two's adventuring. If I've got my mission rewards right. (And more if you do more VIP missions and add a fifth bounty too). Handy!

You're both misunderstanding me. I'm aware of all that, but I'm close to ranking up with the Cryptarch, when you get to the higher ranks, you get purple Engrams for him to decode. That's why I am waiting. I want to rank up with the Cryptarch after the patch, so that when I get gifted the purple Engrams, they definitely turn into purple items. :)

I've ranked up twice but haven't picked up the message from the postmaster. I'm hoping that as I technically don't 'have' the engrams they won't be downgraded to blues. It's a gamble either way.

Oh man, I so wish there was a 3-player option for the Raids, it would make it so much easier to actually experience it. I wonder if they'll look to do anything like this in the future? At the very least it would be good to see a bit more variation of gameplay within the Strikes, adding in some of the environmental puzzles.

Still loving it, but can't help but feel I'm going to miss out on the best it has to offer. Regardless, probably shouldn't worry too much at the moment, still only Level 24.

What makes you think he won't give you a blue?

It'll just take a little organisation with xbox guys, it'll be cool.

So I don't even think the patch is likely to stop a purple -> ascendant material decode. That's definitely going to happen after the patch.

At least ascendant materials are useful. You need masses of them to squeeze the last 3 light upgrades from your purple/yellow kit.

Exactly there are only so many legendary items you need. In the end it'll all come down to either dismanteling them for shards or hoping they turn into asendant materials.

What's the most efficient way of getting helium filaments? I need so much!

Go to the Moon, do the farming lap I posted upthread.

http://www.rllmukforum.com/index.php?/topic/240029-destiny-see-op-for-player-list-first-rllmuk-raid-complete/page-248#entry10058298

I'm sure it'll be on YouTube if you google something like "destiny moon farming run".

In case this hasn't been posted already... fast, infinite spinmetal farming here:

Basically hog the left wall when you go into Rocketyards, then turn 'round, go back to The Divide, and then go back in again and the chest/spinmetal will have respawned. Repeat ad infinitum.
