Talking of Auto Rifles, I switched from the Pulse Rifle the Stranger gives you to this Auto Rifle last night and its great for mindless patrol missions. Really has brought some of the fun back for me. Bullets get returned to the clip and it quick reloads an empty clip for ultimate spray and prey hunting. Kicks like a motherfucker tho...

I completed the story last night. Just got the Moon, Venus and Mars strikes to do and I'll have covered all the "core" content in a single play through and will ding 20 in the process. I've only done a handful of bounties and put 3 or 4 hours into the Crucible. So, in that respect, the main campaign seems perfectly paced to leave you at the endgame point. I'm a good way through developing both sub classes as well, and revisiting Earth as a level 19 and going back to those hidden caverns full of L18 majors is still scary.

However, I have no idea what that story is about. There seemed to be random unconnected missions that just "appeared" (Sword of Crota), introduced new mechanics and then it all evaporated, or very little coherency in terms of objectives. Mars was perhaps the most well rounded - there seemed to be something of a thread there at least, but then at the end it tries to link back all the way to one of the first 4 missions, picking up a thread that's been dropped for almost all of the game.

I do fancy playing through with one of the other classes now, though, so it does something right. It definitely feels underdeveloped though, which is weird - Mars in particular felt very devoid of activity.

Tried soloing the Level 28 Weekly last night and managed to take out the 3 guards, the tank and got the boss to about half health before dying.

Fortunately Lyrical and Kiwi showed up to save the day. So thanks for that :D

Successful post raid team photos. I did not get the shader hence camera duty :(. Great sessions though!

attachicon.gif10661646_10203640149219178_6701300292244721570_o.jpg

I'm not actually level 26 incidentally, I equipped the raid gear I got for the photo and my level dropped from 28 to 26!

I then dismantled my beautiful beautiful raid chestpice because the ugly exotic I have (heart of praxic fire) is better and fully levelled up. :(

Yeah, we ideally need to play a few games together first as well, to get to know each other and see what classes we're all rocking.

It'll come soon enough Matthew. Patience, man. Patience.

Did a strike last night with Krypt/Jon after making sure we were all the same Rllmuk Xbox clan — cheevo never popped for any of us.

Strike was the weekly. Anybody else had this problem? Does it have to be a standard strike?

Cheevos count because I'm saving them towards my mortgage.

We did it but we chose the Earth strike as it's the easiest and we wanted to double up and get the achievement for completing the strike without anybody dying. They both popped at the end no problem.

I re-read the post from last week and actually you shouldn't be waiting to decode engrams until after it drops. It says on the note that the patch will only affect drops that occur after it goes live, so you may as well crack on with those you have now anyway.

I was waiting too as I got my first purple drop last night, but seems like I might as well open it now to discover I have something shit :(

So any sign of this patch? I've gathered a collection of blue Engrams to decode, but am waiting for until after the patch as I am close to lvl 10 with the Cryptarch.

Only engrams dropped after the patch are affected, hoarding them now is completely pointless.

Only Engrams that drop after 1.0.2 are subject to this change.

I didn't do any strikes until level 20 and didn't get the 'Do a strike' achievement until I went back and did the level 8 Earth strike (for a Queen's Bounty) despite having done about 10 strikes before. It seems a bit flakey.

I'm beginning to get quite annoyed with the RNG stacking.

1. Drops are RNG

2. Rewards at the end of Pvp and strikes are rng.

3. If you get an engram to decide it is RNG.

4 the decrypted engram colour is RNG

5 the decrypted engram class is RNG

This leads only to frustration and anger. At the very least gear should be the class and colour of the engram. I think Bungie should also increase the drop rate of blue engrams to help people level up the cryptograph faction.

What all this RNG stacking does is make it incredibly hard to get decent gear. I have now 4 purple helms, 5 purple chests and 3 purple primary weapons. But I'm stuck on level 19 blues for my hands and feet and have been for over a week. My secondary weapons and level 18 blues.

It's just not fun at the moment, I'm almost level 2 rep with the crucible so can buy some gear and I need two more coins for Friday. But it's feeling to RNG at the moment.

The saddest thing is I don't get excited now by purple engrams, just a sense of dread it's going to be another blue sniper rifle.

Totally agree with this. Actually it's not dread, just apathy. I know purples are almost guaranteed to be blues, and blues will be greens more often than not. Getting a Legendary drop in Diablo is amazing - the sound, the glow, the shaft of orange light shooting up into the sky - and you know it's going to be something you can use straight away. Also you can find out what it is in the few seconds it takes a progress bar to fill, instead of enduring a couple of minutes of loading screens for almost certain disappointment.

Bungie's line that adding randomness gave the Cryptarch 'a personality' is just mental. Yeah, well done, you made him a prick.

Good job they already said they're fixing the cryptarch then to ensure if you get a purple, it will be purple or better.

Also, rewards at the end of the PvP being random is fine. You get guaranteed marks, which guarantees gear. If you're hunting down random drops to gear up, you're doing it wrong. If you're close to rank 2 with the crucible, you should easily have enough marks to buy the feet and gloves.

I've hardly had any purple drops at all. One purple drop turned into a legendary Primary, one into a mote of light. I think that's been it. But if you're trying to level via random drops, your approach is wrong. You need to be using the bounties and daily/weekly/vanguard playlist/crucible playlist to be levelling up your marks and rep with your chosen vendors to buy the kit you want, treating drops as added extras or even just as material to be dismantled. And then you need to be using patrols/bounties and public events to grab the materials you need to level it up whilst still making rep and XP progress

My three kills really turned that fight around, I feel.

I know you are right Mike, but why for the love of God does the daily and weekly not match make me with two other people? It does on the vanguard stokes so they obviously have the tech? If they want me to take friends why does Bungie not give me a clan list, like they did in Halo.

Last night I was playing with Soi and another MUK member joined us. I couldn't for the life of me work out how to add him to my friends list!

I'd quite happily level up by sound a daily strike, a weekly strike and even daily crucible. But apart from crucible Bungie make it hard for me to find two other people.

Maybe I'm just old and bitter now, I've got used to help LFG tools in MMOs. To not have them in destiny feels odd, the tower seems to have no use all it is is 3d avatar shop keepers. It could have been done in a shop menu.

If the tower is supposed to be a social Hub why are there no communication options? I'd be fine with just being able to say in tower "anyone want to do the weekly strike" find two people and go do it.

All the tower does is provide long load times, then running from one shop keeper to the next to interact with him and look at his stock. The running about but is not necessary, it could be one menu. If as Bungie says its a social hub, why the fuck won't you let me interact and be social.

Silly deaths really, those exploding harpys are such a pain. Definitely need to assign people roles and stick to them. Good tips thanks.

The guys in the boss room should be up on platforms picking off harpies as fast as possible. If one of you get caught on the floor, double / triple jumps should help minimise the damage you take from their explosions. Covering each other while the other team do their fancy Relic bits on the other side of the portal is pretty essential too.

Oh yeah, I'd absolutely agree the social part is way under-developed.

I think he was saying that he's waiting to level up the Cryptarch so that the Legendary engram gift he receives for handing in all those blues will definitely decrypt to a Legendary or better item.

Though I assumed the update will just mean that the engram colour better matches the content - so presumably purple drops will be much, much rarer.
