Got an exotic bounty and all I had to do was the weekly. So I did that but it just gave me a second to do - TWENTY FIVE strikes! I assume after that I have another bounty to do. How many is it for the exotic ones?

Correct, I am doing that one at the moment, on hold till Friday though as the next stage for me is seeing Xur

I think the final stage is get 10k points in the crucible

No raid for me, I am severely lacking better weapons. A small selection of blues make yellow enemies a massive challenge. A Minotaur takes 5 point blank shotgun hits or 3 to 4 sniper hits. That is nowhere near good enough, especially when there are about 4 of them stomping around.

I am on two exotic weapon bounties now: one demands me to dismantle ten rare or better fusion rifles, one demands me to run 25 strikes followed by gathering 10k points in Crucible. Rank 2 in Vanguard, Rank 1 in Crucible, Rank 1 in FWC.

I like how exotic weapons take time to obtain. But I do not like how it keeps me in one place.

U-1, FiniteLight and I tried the weekly strike (the one that has just expired, on Venus) last night on level 26 (we're all lvl25), but just couldn't beat it. We gave the final boss - the big cyclops thing in the big circular chamber - several good goes but kept getting overwhelmed by adds before we could whittle the main dude down. So we didn't get anything for our troubles, but it was such amazing fun. We had to really co-ordinate to guide the rock-hard boss minotaurs into traps and do laps of the arena to pull enemies away from fallen comrades so there was some space to revive them. Good practice for the raid, I expect!

You should stay up near the top bit with the wall that protects you from the main guy. Then you just cover both sides. There are four waves but they aren't timed - They just come when the main boss gets down to certain health. So you should save the decent ammo for the four waves. Although the first two are easy so just save it for the last two waves.

Bit late now I know.

What this game really needs is a kind of roster / bulletin board that tells you what people are doing, and what they want to do. So you’d log on, and one of the menu screens you see when you’re paused would tell you that, say, User123 wants to do the weekly strike, or that Mr_Crazyface is looking for raid partners, or that notorious_man_dem_crew needs assistance on the queen’s bounty missions. And if you wanted to do something else, you’d set up a flag or message on that screen saying what you wanted to do, and letting other people jump straight into your fireteam to do it.

The same goes for in-game stuff – you should be able to set a beacon in the free-roaming bits to gather up an ad-hoc fireteam to do a mission. Given the social focus of the game, it seems weird that you have to organise games on the forum, and similarly weird that it’s so difficult to set up fireteams with randoms. The same goes for Crucible and Strike matchmaking – you just get dumped out of teams at the end of stuff, it’s not like, say, Halo 3, where it made it clear what group you were in and who you were with. If nothing else, it should show you who your team members are while you’re flying to the next level – ie have their names superimposed on their ships, or something.

Or just never drop down, snipe the minotaurs to start the boss fight and take care of one minotaur every 20 seconds instead of 4 waves ;)

I wouldn't feel like I was playing the game if I did that. Although there's a similar tactic on the Summoning Pits that we had to resort to for last week's Weekly, where we were a bit under-levelled and fighting too many Wizards.

See, that's where I was the first couple of times I did the strike on Normal. I played it on Weekly Heroic with some friends, and was strongly advised that the best place to tuck yourself away was on the lower sunken section, and do the same tactics. I guess it doesn't matter really.

Yeah, I'd really like to be able to set something that said "I want to do the Weekly Heroic (which doesn't matchmake for some reason) so I'm just patrolling or hitting bounties until someone joins me. Join me!" or "Help me!!! I'm struggling on a Queen's mission, but I don't want to quit."

I suspect that there isn't matchmaking on the weekly strike to encourage people to play with their friends and to build teamwork skills for Raids, but they need to make it easier to coordinate friends.

Any time I'm low shooting up I just see the scene from The Rock in my head and unconsciously seek higher ground.

Check out Pete Docherty over here.

Yeah, the ability to easily communicate what type of activity you want help with would be an excellent addition.

It's disheartening to read that Exotic Bounty guide and see that proficiency in the Crucible is important for the majority of them. I don't mind the slog in general but I'm terrible at competitive modes and I know a few others have expressed similar thoughts. It's a shame there isn't an alternative for us PvP losers.

What kind of level do you realistically need to be for the raid? I'm 26 but I have heard some people mention 27 is a more sensible starting point.

Bit annoying if it is, managed to get all my armour purple at last but will likely need shards to hit that magical 27. Well that and I really want to give Mordor a go today instead of grinding.

I suspect it makes a difference what kind of guns you have. With levelling based solely on armour, there's potential for quite a difference between one lvl 26 and another.

You ideally need powerful weapons, Level 28 doesn't mean you can dish out loads of damage.

level 26 with legendary weapons which do a lot of damage and critical damage would be fine imo

You'll be able to hit 27 without spending any shards if you leave the last tier on each item. You'll need to farm a load of Spinmetal / Helium Filaments and whatever else, but it's much easier than trying to farm shards.
