I'm still lagging behind at level 15, because well I'm a bit bobbins. Though I did manage to help out with a strike on the moon with a random fire team. We started of quite well but soon one of our members lost faith and left leaving me and another to fight the spawn from hell alone. I failed miserably at first but the two of us eventually worked out a plan and managed to down the big lump which was nice.

Though I have been doing mainly patrols since, which seems to level me up quite quickly and generally seem a bit more fun at this level.

If anyones wondering what the hell I'm doing soloing a nightfall weekly....the last part of the exotic fusion rifle is a right tedious chore - kill 200 enemies in the weekly nightfall strike using a fusion rifle.

Now this would not be that bad as the strike has the solar skull on so enemies die quite quick using solar damage.

Except I'm having to do it with a green fusion rifle. That has Arc damage.

The game hates me.

Edit: at 140 kills at present. I'm becoming quite adept at dodging, picking off enemies and generally being a bit like a ninja. With guns. The enemies shoot like they have full auto rifles, one hit melee kills and grenades. I'd be screwed without that solar machine gun I got the other night though to take out the shielded skanks.

To be fair we did quite well up to the boss. At which point it all went a bit wrong with those one hit kill twats. I must have put 4000 auto rifle rounds in that boss over a few attempts.

Loving the hand cannon though. Thanks for helping out and picking me up off the floor so much.

Okay, great. I'm likely to be on late so that should hopefully work out well.

Ah balls, not going to get on tonight now dude. Sorry. Was really keen as well :(

Aiming to be on again in the morning for a good few hours if that works though (and you haven't jumped too far ahead in terms of levels).

Next week's patch is making changes to engrams so that they always turn into their colour item or better ie purple engram will always equal purple item or higher.

http://www.bungie.net/7_102-Patch-Preview/en/News/News?aid=12202

Cryptarch Changes
Cayde-6 took the Cryptarch aside and showed him a sack of doorknobs. He decoded that mystery pretty quickly.
  • Legendary Engrams will always produce Legendary or better quality items, including Materials or Exotics
  • Rare Engrams will always produce Rare or better quality items
  • Rare engrams will have an increased chance to produce Legendary quality items
Activity Changes
  • Daily Heroics, Weekly Heroics, and Vanguard: Tiger Playlist activities will include Rare and Legendary Engrams in addition to their existing rewards
Item Changes
  • Ascendant materials have been promoted to Legendary to closer associate them with the gear they are used to upgrade
  • Legendary Engram items that exist in your inventory will be demoted to Rare quality when the patch goes live, so decode them while you can. But let’s be honest--even if you don’t, we all know they were blues already...

More legendaries = more ascendant shards/energy = win in my opinion.

I guess if you level up the cryptarch its best to leave the mail items there until next week, for obvious reasons. Unless they vanish if left in the mail, I've never tested that though.

Don't be silly, no need to apologise. I crashed out early on the sofa as it was and have just woken up with the mother of all cricked necks. Good times.

I played a couple of story missions last night (many thanks to AlanT for jumping in and helping out!) so am up to 18 but only just. Unfortunately I won't be able to play during the day but may be around this evening / tomorrow if you're about.

Was great last night. Cheers for the help on the queens.

Was well good. Firstly got to the end boss (end end boss) on the queens bounty and then one Dave had to go because his dinner was ready and the other Dave said he was too scared and started crying so he signed out as well.

So I'm there trying to avoid dying whilst putting out a messaged help beacon. DVT and Ben jump in and we finish them off in a couple of attempts.

Heh. You can quite easily solo the weekly strike on all difficulties. I've solo'd the level 26 and 28 versions now as a 27 Titan.

Just make sure you have a solar rocket launcher, fusion rifle and sniper rifle.

At the boss. You basically want to snipe the Minotaurs from up top. Which awakens the Nexus. Then you can just snipe him for massive damage without dealing with adds.

You'll get one Minotaur which spawns behind you every now and again. I just save a rocket for him and then continue to snipe the boss. Cheap ass tactics ftw :P

Going to try and solo Nightfall now ;)

I'm gonna get negged to Oblivion for this. Was this game released completely broken and in nothing like the intended form due to massive interference from Activision ?

Could it have been much better if the original story and vision was adhered to ?

I know none of you wants to hear this as you are all having a great time with the game and nobody wants to admit being taken for a mug but it sure seems like Bungie are not in control of this project.

I'm 5 minutes in and they are just whinging about no new cutscenes really so far, when do they start going on about how it's been changed?

Essentially it points to a bunch of pre release information from both Bungie & other sources where claims were made about their vision for the game in terms of story and loot gathering that are polar opposites of what was released to retail.

It points to evidence that the game was in a finished state and that the delay appears to have been used to chop out large sections of story in order to release them as premium priced expansion packs.

The game's bullet sponge bosses are in fact a bug and were never intended to be fought for the lengths of time required and the repetitiveness and lack of story is a direct result of major Activision interference aimed at maximising revenue.

I'll never mention it again but I thought it's an interesting take on what was hyped and what was released.

Its fair to say after last nights intensive Raid action, I had some strange ass dreams!

So! When do we want to continue? :eyebrows:

Handy tip for anyone thinking of setting up a new Raid: its probably best if you ask people to join in pairs, and ideally that they know each other and play together - it'll make life a lot easier - the action so far has all been based around 3 pairs of 2 players split over various objectives.
