Moz - apologies about last night on the level 28 weekly, we could have done it had we more time and in my particular case more ammo ! Those yellow bar minotaurs are extremely difficult for my weaponry too.

When I seen your invite I was actually really excited as I thought we were going Raiding !!

Standard damage = Kinetic

Purple = Void

Red = Solar

Blue = Arc

Item rarities are:

White = Common

Green = Uncommon

Blue = Rare

Purple = Legendary

Gold = Exotic

Also worth pointing out that each of the classes' sub class cover one of these damage types with their super, melee and grenade skills.

Titan Striker - Arc

Titan Defender - Void

Warlock Voidbringer - Void

Warlock Sunsinger - Solar

Hunter Gunslinger - Solar

Hunter Bladedancer - Arc

Worth keeping in mind.

:D

Yeah, they are just tough to be fair. When me and Cake were in one as a twosome, it was quite tough on the old ammo (partly due to cakes lack of a decent arsenal of fusion rifles ;)).

Your best best is probably having a void sniper / fusion rifle and then a solar rocket launcher as the Centurions are far fewer than Psions (my rocket launcher one shot the Centurions too, which is only a blue).

Edit: Following on from what Shark said. I can't wait for them to unlock the third sub class for everyone. Solar Titan here I come!

The fact that there is very obviously an empty third subclass slot suggests they plan on doing exactly that - unless of course they're planning on introducing a fourth type of damage. Let's see...we've had arc light, void light and solar light so next could be...black light? Each class gets the ability to host a late 90s rave, create moody teenage bedrooms and show jizz stains on hotel bedding?

I did the daily heroic mission last night on my own, going for the "9000XP without dying". I was one level under par, and it was FUCKING tense trying to get through without dying. It brought back those Halo feelings of cowering behind cover, hearing enemies move around, checking your tools and working out your next move. The last bit involved trying to take out a Minotaur and his minions, and also their spawn spot to stop more appearing. Trying to juggle all those elements was all-consuming. I shat myself when the damaged big stompy robot came after me round the back of the train carriages when my shield was down, practically squealing with terror as I turned to face him and finish him off with the shotgun

I really love the way the structure of the game gives proper incentives to play missions in different way. I've played Halo missions before with the Iron Skull on (death resets the level), but it was just for my own gratification. Having the rewards tie into game progression adds an awful lot.

I've jammed a couple of Legendary armours, so I've shot from level 20 to 24 pretty quickly. I'm hours and hours from getting enough rep and marks to buy any purple guns to go with it, though.

Why are people so stupid? Playing skirmish, if you stick together you win. If you run off like headless chickens, you lose. Getting reamed so bad I've given up on this match, as my two numb ties just scatter at each respawn. Only to fling themselves in front of 3 enemy shotguns.

It's bad when I'm top of the scoreboard for a team.

Me and a couple of others teamed up to do Queens missions, 4 in a row last night. They are tough indeed! Still, I got 4 legendaries out of it (scrapped two, because it was three chestplates and one helm) and moved from lvl 23 to 24.

I do enjoy very much the tougher challenges. I do wish ammo worked differently once you start dying.

I've definitely played a Control match or two just to ramp up some bounties. Luckily, it doesn't matter, because you end up having to play well anyway! Like, a bounty to Jill Guardians, capture 10 zones etc will generally help the team. Randoms are doing all sorts of bullshit anyway.

On the mission map, why do some levels have a little laurel wreath around them, and some don't?

Are they the critical path missions you actually need to do to progress through and get to the end? Several of the story missions are essentially optional if you're powering through to just unlock all the planets and so on.

Dunno, but that certainly makes sense.

I definitely need crucible tips. I want to run crying back to halo.

I wasn't very good at that either but on this I can't do anything at all...

Use a weapon with good stability and rate of fire I reckon, such as an Auto Rifle. Hand Cannons and Scout Rifles can be powerful, but when you're flaying around trying to kill someone in a one-on-one, you can't beat that bullet spray.

Also, stick with at least one other player if it's a team game, and continually look at the radar! So important.

After flipping from lvl20 to the Light Armour I've been stuck at lvl21 (just a maddening sliver of yellow away from lvl22) for ages. I've been doing bounties and some strikes but no armour drops to beat what I have.

So I got a little frustrated and decided to visit the cave. I had half an hour or so to kill. Was a little bit worried one of you lot would be about and would shame me by sharing a pic of me farming. But still I went.
I managed to level up my Pulse Rifle quite a bit as I mindlessly spat energy bullets into the dark of the cave. A few Blues dropped (which would reveal themselves to be nothing interesting later on, I've had the same cloak now about 4 times in a row), but what happened next was well worth the trip. Suddenly a Wizard came out of the cave. Like the game was saying I can't stands no more of this. Just as I was getting over the shock I got hammered from behind. As I turned things went into slo mo and the screen filled up with all sorts of enemies that had no right being there. Total fucking war was breaking out. Once I'd battled my way through it as best I could and peace was restored the satellite mission dropped and it all kicked off again. How you're meant to play Candy Crush: Destiny Edition amongst all that drama is beyond me. During all the mayhem a Blue dropped that turned out to be a Legendary Sniper Rifle (Dead Orbit style). My first usable Ledge.
The cave turned out to be pretty cool.
I tried the lvl 24 Queens Story to test my new Sniper Rifle out - it worked a treat until I got one hit killed 5 seconds later...NOPE!

Sorry I had to bail out, the wife has a long-standing TV privilege when it comes to the great british bake off!

I was trying to convince the other guy with us to switch to void. I wasn't sure if solar or void would do more damage to their shields (they were void shields, but there was a solar damage modifier!) but my void damage seemed to be popping the shields quicker.

No problem at all, the challenge was good !

I was using my void sniper and grenade to get there shields down and he was using Solar, my issue was ammo I had none and no ammo packs either. We had a good run at one point but ended in disaster as I had no shield to aid revives.

Really loving this right now. Did some Venus missions last night and the music is fucking awesome in some of the battles. Makes you feel like a proper bad ass!

Up to level 14 now and sincerely hoping you lot are still playing this when I finally get to some levels that allow me to do the harder strikes and raids etc. The loot hunt is addictive but it's the overall satisfaction I get out of killing each and every enemy that really makes me want to be playing it while I'm at work.

Out tonight but hoping to be on a bit over the weekend. Perhaps a cheeky strike on the moon or Venus with similarly levelled forumites?

I'm ambling through at a similar pace to you as my gaming time is limited at the moment. I've just hit 15 and unlocked Mars.

I'll likely play a little tonight but doubt I'll be too far ahead if you come the weekend. Would certainly be up for a Strike or two if you're around in the evenings.

Question (lol).

For any strike / mission (for example the queens level 24 missions which i want to do tonight) - I have to be level 24 right? Otherwise my damage is reduced by 20% for each level I am below. Is this correct?

If only some sort of world wide, internet spanning search engine existed for you to check these questions out! Someone invent one, quick! You'll become billionaires!

;)

Hit level 20 now. I'm playing for about an hour or so each night and doing a mix of story missions, patrols and crucible, with crucible accounting for about half of the time. I did one strike and it put me off forever, I died about 20 times while being abused by everything. Not a single enjoyable moment.

I've got a special armour set up with the perks that make crucible easier and I'm persevering with the scout rifle/shotgun combo despite getting mowed down by auto rifles all the time.

I'm struggling to understand why I'm so bad at getting headshots in this game though, I've got a few bounties at the moment that are headshot based and they are taking me forever. Often I'm losing out on battles in the crucible because I can't track people fast enough to finish them off, either due to the design of the levels or my own control of the thumbsticks.

This. I find sticking in two and threes better than sticking with a full pack, because six guys bunched together leave your whole team open to getting wiped by a super. Keeping an eye on the radar is absolutely essential. Also, skulls popping up show you where your teammates are dying, and obviously therefore, where the other team mostly are.

My favorite tactic is sneaking around in crouch so I don't show up on radar, then fucking the other team up at close range with fusion rifle one shot kills. I've taken a whole team out in the same room with this approach.

Having this helps:
