As icecold said just sat here waiting/wanting to play more especially after not being able to last night. Roll on 6pm!

Quick qu, I got an exotic bounty a few days back which had a reference to a lost fireteam/guardian, I think it was on Venus and said I needed to find their ghost? Anyone done that yet, assume I need to look in every bloody nook and cranny for dead ghosts now?

I agree about the tower. Surely with them presuming everyone had a smartphone or computer. The choice to hand the bounties in via that way would have been wise.

The bounties should have their own tab on the character screen.

It's the future and they have hover speederbikes, flying ghosts, defence shields, spaceships with hyperdrive etc... yet they don't have communication tech to call the bounty master. Has to be face to face.

Then I hope they change their mind :)

edit: it is not that I mind returning to the tower. I like the place, it is just the minute long loading screen that makes me avoid the place whenever I can. And if you want to leave, you are greeted by two loading screens: one from The Tower to orbit, one from orbit to the place you want to go to.

Returning to the tower for stuff (like decrypting Engrams or claiming Bounties or returning Mission Items for Rewards) is a deliberate design move, rather than a technical thing. I'm not saying it's a SANE decision but it's got a logic behind it.

It's just like using a TP scroll in Diablo, except a bit shitty because it takes two minutes of loading to get there and you lose any progress prior to the last checkpoint.

That said it hasn't been a problem for me.

In fairness the world is steeped in mysticism. They don't understand a lot of the tech because the records have been destroyed, and much of it is revered like magic. (See Clarkes third law!) We don't know if the humans ever really understood the traveller technology prior to the collapse. It's your classic "roadside picnic" setup. I get why their world would revolve around arcane/anachronistic paper contracts, as if they somehow carry more weight with the inhabitants because they're material.

Got to crucible rank two yesterday, which meant an armour bonanza and lvl 25. Quite dismayed to see that at level 25 the game is expecting me to go to the moon and dick about collecting helium filaments to upgrade my gear.

Worst bit of the game I reckon is having to trudge about "farming" certain resources purely to upgrade your gear. It would be far, far preferable if they had strikes on each plant which granted you say 8-10 of a given resource for finishing them.

Also the game has been really ropey the last few days in terms of staying connected. Been booted mid-mission or from the crucible more times than I'd like.

It's the matchmaking (locating other players not in your fireteam) to populate the worlds that takes ages, not loading the levels.

If that's the case, then why does it seem to take longer to load the Tower than it does to load a mission or a strike? With a mission or strike, I would have thought that precise matchmaking was really important, as it needs to find three players of roughly the right level, who all want to start playing a particular stage, and who aren't too messed up by lag.

With the Tower, surely it doesn't matter so much? It can just dump you into any old instance, the only important thing would be lag, and even that isn't such a big concern if you aren't shooting people.

Serious question btw, I know very little about this sort of thing.

I've had my only disconnection events in the last few days. My guess is they installed an unholy amount of capacity for launch, and are winding it down now it's going to have dropped off somewhat. I guess we'll see a little instability while they get that right.

Go to Patrol on Venus, then go right when you land. Keep going past the first few buildings until you get to an angel statue (its the one outside the building that has that underground part that takes you to the Vex pillar of light in what looks like a library). Its in the first door on the left past said statue.

Scraped up to level 21 and it let me do one of the queens missions. Lvl24. Yeah right. The first few baddies were lvl 14 ish. Doddle thinks I

And then I come across the level 24 goblins who basically one shot me.

Then tried some crucible.

Fusion rifles. Invisible guys. That move that makes people fly about. People that take a full on Titan punch to the face and shrug it off. These people and things, well they can all fuck the fuck off.

Get to the crucible you pussies. Of course you'll get the crap kicked out of you your first couple of games, but as you learn the maps and formulate a play style, seeing your improvements is hugely rewarding. I hadn't played a competitive fps in 8 years before this, and no matter how bad your first three or four games are, they'd have to go a distance to be worse than mine. Now I kick ass.

I concur. Absolutely loving it. I warily had my first go at the weekend and was terrible. Now I've played more of it than any other part of the game. I'm still terrible but it's so much fun.
