Crucible level for crucible loot.

In other news my relationship with this game has gone a bit love/hate. I'm so hooked on these purple carrots on sticks that I've not even looked at Last of Us remastered, Killzone and Infamous. Not even put them in the machine. Plus, my missus, who has never really been around me playing online (before this, I hadn't played competitive multiplayer since Halo 3 and didn't even know my wife then!) doesn't get that she can't pop in for a smooch or start a conversation because my team of strangers are only 250 points down in 6v6 with a minute to go and my special ability is fully charged.

It's exhausting...

My wife basically just does that grandpa Simpson walking into a bordello gif if she walks in when I'm playing this.

Fuckit. I'm working from home tomorrow so I can play on my lunch break

Just soloed the 'very hard' story part on black garden. Very hard indeed! Died 24 times and took 1hr 20mins.

Got purple helm as reward, already have an exotic in that slot fml Edit: got the helm 3 times in a row... 4 times now

Can you re-do the missions or do they disappear once complete?

You basically get an entry ticket for each event Bounty you complete, so up to 6 a day.

The missions themselves aren't anything special, just re-purposed Story content with additional difficulty modifiers. A bit disappointing from a content perspective — hell, I'd have taken tracking down targets in Patrol instead — but with guaranteed Legendaries they're a great source of equipment/dismantled upgrade materials.

Yeah I need shards desperately, I am one light away from 27 and stuck, haven't been able to buy legendary boots because of vanguard marks cap and was struggling to get shards.

Are the bounties / follow up missions soloable? I'm level 23 (I think).

I said earlier in the thread they would be but I think with the modifiers I have since seen on the missions i'd say probably not.

What i'm wondering is, if I join my friends fireteam and I haven't completed the bounties will i still get rewards? and If so once i've done the bounties will we earn loot from the missions again?

Doing the maths would = 18 missions in a 3 man fireteam. That's a lot of shards. Please tell me I have a chance this will work.

Yeah...'Queen's Bounty content' which is really just 'the same content you're already doing, just with some new bounties and rep to grind' is really, really disappointing.

If there was a load of new content this soon after launch, everyone would be complaining about post-launch DLC being held back from the game etc. It's only been out a fortnight.

What's the difference between this and Diablo 3's Adventure mode? Not a lot. And encounters play out significantly differently when they're modified, also. Heroic modifier steps up their AI. I don't know what the Epic one I saw in the pic upthread does, but I imagine it'll take more work.

I'm not sure I follow the thread of your maths. I'd be pretty sure it'll only let you complete a given mission once, whether you do it solo or as part of a fireteam.

Probably the best way to game it would be to join a friend part way through for a speedier completion bonus, then for someone to plow into the next whilst the rest of the fireteam update themselves in the Tower.

Re. Strikes - you'll get the chance to play strikes at 20+ difficulty settings once you hit level 20 as part of the weekly Strike challenges and served up randomly in the Strike playlists. So no, you definitely won't miss out on getting challenge from them. Same applies to story missions - harder variants for all of them unlock once you hit 20.

I'm equally nervous of the PvP stuff as I'm just way too inexperienced at it (I only got a Gold subscription recently basically to play Destiny, and have always played Halo etc resolutely in singleplayer campaign mode), but I had a blast on the level 8 strike (and I was only level 7 at the time) with a random matched fireteam at the weekend. I would try them as they come along if I were you.

EDIT: make sure you have a clear hour free though, or you may have to drop out before you're through.

Thanks for the replies. I took Padster's advice and jumped into the level 8 strike last night and it was an absolute blast. One guy dropped straight away so there were just the two of us but we got through it okay. It seemed pretty tough though considering we were level 11 and 12 respectively. Does the difficulty scale depending on how many are in the team or are you just in for a tougher time if somebody drops?

I had the third player drop right at the end of the lvl20 Venus strike where you have to kill the Archon Priest. Maybe it does scale for missing players, because we still managed to do it with two players - but fucking hell, I kind of doubt it as it was almost unbelievably difficult.

I highly doubt it'll let you join unless you have the mission token in your inventory. And once its completed, whether you hosted or joined at 98% complete, the token will be used up.

Tried to clear a few bounties last night, don't die on a strike and the Vex big boss one on hard. Thanks goes to Lyrical Donut jumping in and showing the way with his lethal hand cannon on the latter.

We both then joined hardbattle for the summoning pits weekly strike on hard/heroic and still couldn't do it before I had to leave as the missus came home so dinner had to be made (annoying!). ;) Fuck me that missions is hard, we got so so close one time but wasn't to be. Think we need to concentrate on those bloody mobs of knights and wizards when they arrive first later on and of course i need to stop dying so much!

More later, can't wait, still lvl21 and not rising... :)

Seems likely, oh well will just make the most of whats there.

Cheers Uncle Mike too.

With the summoning pits strike on the weekly heroic you can ignore Phogoth for the first wave of enemies. It won't break his chains unless you shoot him so spend the time mopping up all of the other enemies first. Once they are all cleared out then you'll have to free Phogoth for the mission to play out.
When reinforcements come in I usually fire a rocket at the ones that land out of the dropship. It definitely helps thin that group out and for the others just concentrate on taking the Wizards down first. A friend and I (both level 25 Titans (Striker and Defender) at the time) managed to do it as a pair. It's hectic but definitely doable especially if you get a bit lucky with the heavy ammo (or bring some extra in).

Me and Trigg managed The Summoning Pits weekly at 24 and 20. Took us 4-5 attempts or so, but we got there.

Standing by the rock at the back, towards where the drop ship lands was best strategy we found as the spawns take time to get to you and you can't get flanked.

Titan's Ward of Dawn was invaluable for when the Knights came in close too.

i absolutely love it but just want more stuff. More missions more strikes more raids more planets. The loot chase is so addictive and as someone whose never played an mmo I can see the appeal.

My biggest gripe is the same enemies in the same places. Tougher shields and the likes isn't a good solution to keep people engaged. I just wish random enemies spawned in various places.
