if it's the bounty for doing the weekly strike - that completed for me doing a normal level 24 strike - which was much easier than the weekly one (maybe it works with any other strike?).

I think it just registers that you've completed the weekly heroic after you complete any strike/mission, if that makes sense. I'd imagine those who completed a strike/mission without having done the weekly heroic beforehand wouldn't have it complete.

Right, the story...

I went to the Reef the other night with my Awoken character, to meet... the Awoken. "Great," I thought. "These are my people. We'll be having drinks, smoking cigars and swapping war stories!" But no, they didn't even acknowledge me as one of their own. It was almost as if it was a generic cut scene which fits all character choices. But Bungie are better than that. It's all part of the story, right? The blank looks from the Queen and her emo brother are part of some earth shattering revelation further down the line, right?

Right?

I've been on most nights but have got a heavy cold and feel a bit shit.

Level 16 at the moment but am hoping to pick up the pace a bit.

Yeah, I've had the same since last Friday. Proper nasty cold.

Anyway, give us a nudge if I'm online and we'll soon get you up to speed.

I've done a Titan Fist of Havoc and its not killed one, and I've also shotgunned and punched one in the face once and he had a sliver of health left and of course he killed me. I've seen them go on a 5 kill streak using that super and only die when it runs out. Its a bit extreme, and its clearly the damage resistance they get that needs a serious nerf bat.

Ok, getting more and more confused now. Im getting guns that have purple and blue attack numbers on them. Seems to indicate they do void damage and something else. Err, what does that mean and how should they therefore be used/selected?

Also, I'm getting a little shard counter in the top right hand corner sometimes. What the hell is that?

:wacko:

One turned up at a control point that 5 of my team were on. It activated the super and knifed every last one of us, one shot kills, before we could do anything so yeah, it needs nerfing.

You should be going for all 3 damage types on weapons:

Blue = Arc Purple = Void Orange = Solar

When you see enemies with a swirly shield effect that is one of these colours then he'll take more damage from that type, so if he has a blue shield, then Arc is the way to go on him, at least until his shield is popped.

Those shards are probably crucible or vanguard marks for completing public events, strikes or crucuble matches.

I should point out I did kill one the other night with my super (trust me, I was quite gob-smacked that I got the kill) so I suspect the damage resistance is something you can spec into, but it clearly should not be as high as it is to allow a Hunter to walk away from rockets, supers and shotgun+punches.

Thanks. So basically I equip those guns to better break down shields and stuff? Thing is I cant say I've seen any shield colours that match! Is it certain races that are vulnerable to certain damage types?

I'm getting the shards just in story mode.

Stupid question ahoy! So I get the different elemental powers (solar, void and arc) are all used to take down corresponding coloured shields, fine. But I seem to have convinced myself along the way that certain elemental powers are better against certain species (e.g. Solar against Fallen), is that true or have I just totally made that up in my head and it is just shield colour only I need to think about?

edit: Ok, that's weird, same question at the same time!

Wow, 90 minute session doing the daily with new modifiers (no ammo drop for weapon in use) and then 2 level 22 strikes, my first at that level. By pure luck the first strike was the moon strike, necessary to pursue my exotic bounty, and one which I am at least familiar with. Then came the Mars one which I have never done before, and to make things worse one guy dropped out immediately. The other guy somehow carried me along until the final boss which wasn't too bad at all since he is susceptible to a sniper. A couple of collection type bounties to cash in now and a few engrams to decode,not bad at all. When this game is good....

Regarding coloured/elemental damage:

Think of your secondary weapon with elemental damage as your charged Plasma Pistol from Halo, except on this it has to be colour matched. Blast them until their shield is depleted, then switch to your primary weapon and finish off their health.

During the main bulk of the game you'll come across:

Wizards = Orange

Captains = Blue

Centurions = Orange

Minatours = Purple

Elite Harpies = Blue

As you start doing the really high level stuff, you'll find that the enemies are completely immune to all attacks except the correct colour. This is where real teamwork comes into play. Its no coincidence that there are 3 colours and 3 fire team members (choose a flavour each). ;)

And how is that different from Warlocks nova bombs or Titan slam? If grouped at a control point that will take out 5-6 people, the range on the slam is also onscene, i have tripple jump forward and high at a sprint and it still catches me. Titan shield boost is over powered if anything. PvP is wonderfully unbalanced which ends up making it balanced as its so unbalanced, I think Bungie know that and its intentional, they have been playing it for a year+.

Tldr; leave my glowing lightning knifes alone :(.

Edit: I have been killed during, there is a perk that restored health after each strike though, people probably using that.

I'm done. Reached level 24, and have just rage uninstalled the whole thing. Even the two expansions I haven't played. Literally came bottom every multiplayer match I played. And I played a lot. :)

Just upload studioed a clip of me firing a clip into a players head only for him to turn around and one shot me. Just can't get on with this at all. Back to Titanfall.

Yeah, I think all three classes have the option of an 'overpowered' Special. Personally I find Fist of Havoc to be the most annoying because it's more of a panic button: Titans are practically invincible during the short wind-up.

i don't think i did the weekly one this week though, probably did it last week, so maybe it's counting that?...i haven't a clue!

also what's the point of purple engrams? i've had about 10 of them with no purple gear. stupid loot :(

Ooh, just did my first strike on Earth. Was surprisingly tough with two randoms but got through in the end. Really enjoyed it actually, and seemed to get a fair few bits of gear.

I've still no real idea of what half the stuff that is dropping actually is/does but i'm sure I will get there in the end.

Level 10 now and really quite enjoying myself :)

Purple engrams exist? Think my game is broken then cos from l20 to 23 and 3/4, which is about 10hrs playtime. I've never seen anything bar blue or green. But I should be able to buy my first purple in a few more hrs. Just over 200 Vanguard points to hit rank 2.

If you need to do this kind of bollocks to "enjoy" the game why the hell would you want to play.

Did a bit of farming last night, just sat back with a beer and some Aphex Twin streaming over my LAN. Really relaxing and have new stuff for when I go a-gaming properly with people in days to come. Just like mining in Eve Online, one simply has to know how to approach these things.

Yeah i always do every pve bounty everyday. My vanguard rank was at 0.25. I just hit 1 today, gonna keep raising it.

The guys I play with who are similar levels and playtimes have all had at least one, and one guy has had two. They have all been raising their Vanguard level so it must be that.
