Great! I suggest you guys try and get a bit of gear from the Queen's bounty stuff over the next week, to replace whichever is your worst bit of gear. That should put you in good stead for the raid. Let's start a week tomorrow, after the raid resets. That gives us a full week of attempts.

Fingers crossed the bounty rewards are decent, although I expect this whole Queens intro is just to whet your whistle in preparation for the DLC and its own high level loot.

Regarding the DLC, I've just bought the Season Pass which seems awfully steep at £35, but I assume that's Activision (the cash cows) doing? Anyway, I'm in this game for the long haul, so I'll be snapping up any & all content.

Something I discovered this morning: you can have two weapons with exactly the same name and number, but they can have different upgrade paths, and potentially better damage output. :/ That concerns me because I've dismantled a lot of 'duplicates' (without properly inspecting them) that may have been superior to the one I had equipped. Anyone else come across this?

The strikes on the planet maps say 1-3 players, but I don't seem to be able to just tackle them on my own. Am I missing something?

Still a bit confused over the Queens Bounty stuff.. so are all these items rewards from completing certain bounty tasks, or do you have to purchase with a queens equivalent of Vangard/Crucible Marks?

They're bounties which you can pick up to gain rep/marks with the queen faction I would guess. None of them appear remotely difficult enough to warrant rewarding a legendary at the end. The emissary will appear in the tower tomorrow.

I've been ambling through the story missions solo so far and enjoying it hugely. I'm level 11 and have just done the first mission on Venus.

I've been avoiding the multiplayer stuff so far but am wondering if I leave all the Strike missions to the end, for example, will I lose all benefit? For instance, there's a level 8 Strike I've ignored so far but should I go and do it before I get any further past the relevant level?

I've also avoided the Crucible so far as I'm terrible at competitive shooters. I'm assuming I'm going to need to get involved if I want to get the most from the game? Great to see some tips posted recently for that mode; I'll have a good read through this evening.

I'm equally nervous of the PvP stuff as I'm just way too inexperienced at it (I only got a Gold subscription recently basically to play Destiny, and have always played Halo etc resolutely in singleplayer campaign mode), but I had a blast on the level 8 strike (and I was only level 7 at the time) with a random matched fireteam at the weekend. I would try them as they come along if I were you.

EDIT: make sure you have a clear hour free though, or you may have to drop out before you're through.

Anyone nervous about PvP, I really recommend just jumping in and giving it a go. Best to stick to team deathmatch rather than a free-for-all as at least you've got a team to back you up.

I am TERRIBLE with a lot of multiplayer stuff, and the first few games I was lucky to even get 1 kill per match (whilst getting killed a lot) but once I was more familiar with the layout of the maps I found I enjoyed it a lot more. Was still dying a lot but over about 10 matches I started to rack up a few more kills. I've now played a good few hours and I usually end up mid-to-bottom of the table, but it's still a ton of fun.

Surely if the other team stumbles across them doing this exploit, you could kill at least two of them?

Nope they just do critical damage against shields of the same element.

Some stuff I noticed today for people after ascendant materials. Deconstructing 2 purple chests and 1 purple gloves game me 7 shards, 3 from chests and 1 from gloves. Public event rewards for first gold is per character. Materials can be passed via the vault. As can engrams collected by a low level character, they will decode leveled to a higher level.

Probably known but its handy if you want to focus on one character.

Not sure, but I think purple weapons can be swapped between all characters, regardless of whether you got them from rep level 3 or just drops. This could mean that you only really need to get one character to level 3 rep.

Few hours yesterday and up to 21 and also got an exotic bounty so looking forward to chasing that down. Couldn't finish the weekly strike, was just a complete 'mare trying to do the boss with three of us.

I'm done with this game. Not that I particularly disliked it or anything, but levels 21 onwards is strictly for the grinders and I'm just not having that much fun with it anymore.

Doing the same bounties and strikes everyday just to marginally raise my faction rep so I can become marginally closer to being able to buy a purple piece of armour. Nah.

if it's the bounty for doing the weekly strike - that completed for me doing a normal level 24 strike - which was much easier than the weekly one (maybe it works with any other strike?).
