Can I ask, in MP, is it peer 2 peer or servers? I've seen some wildly inconsistent games.

I've heard that it's peer to peer, although I've not looked into it much. It would explain the things I've seen happening occasionally.

I stuck my legendary warlock glove in the bank and started up a warlock. Going to try and level solely through PvP, see how it goes...

I've also stuck my Warlock chest piece in the Vault. I was hoping to start another character next week when a friend gets the game. I was going to choose Hunter but since I have an exotic Warlock chest piece now I think the choice has been made for me.

I'm convinced there's some kind of bug or problem with fusion rifles, at least in PVP. So many times I start charging the weapon up and it just stops for no reason. At first I thought it was lag (like, it stopped charging because I'd already been killed but my death animation didn't register until a second later) but it does it even when not in an actual engagement sometimes.

Back from holiday now so had a couple of hours with this today (so far).

Initial impressions are good - killing the mans/aliens feels satisfying, particularly when those yellow numbers start to fly (assuming that means you are getting head shots).

Up to level 5 and went with Titan as I get the feeling there might be less of those around? Anyway, got my special move unlocked which seems ok, although that Warlock bolt thing might have been more satisfying in hindsight.

Really liking all of the menus and general feel of the game, but it is a bit silly that you are off on story missions while others roam around alongside you. I also cant believe how little explanation of everything there has been - I've been following this thread so have some idea, but once you are in the game its all a bit of a mystery. Seemed to join a public event earlier - they are just small things right that can happen at any time?

Also, how do I join the MUK clan? (Edit: sorted). Might be up for trying a strike later, assuming I get to level 8 - there is one on Old Russia that looks available. Anyone maybe fancy trying that tonight?

I loved the bits of the demo where damage was dealt... DESPISED the parts where an enemy soaked up the bullets. Is the full game more of the former or latter?

The demo as in the beta? It's exactly the same. Onbviously to level up further, get better weapons etc. but you still have enemies which require more hits, varying depending on what level they are etc.

Any fellow Warlocks have any tips for PVP? I do ok sometimes, but it's quite disheartening how often I lose to one hit kills. I like using pulse and scout rifles, picking enemies off bit by bit, but then I often just lose to a single fist punch (Titans, I think?) which seems a bit overpowered compared to everything I have except my super (which activates very rarely). The main advantage of fast regenerating shield doesn't seem to be especially beneficial in PVP where you have six opponents bearing down on you - very rarely do you get a chance to sneak off and wait for the shield to come back. Am half inclined to change class but I'll probably be just as shit with the others.

With the PVP I've found it really helps to stick with another player and play close attention to your radar. As you level up you'll get perks via your class and equipment that should help you too. Things like quicker aiming, more bullets in your magazine, more damage in the second half of a magazine etc.

- Ditch the pulse rifles and get an auto rifle!

- Get armour with intellect and discipline to speed up your super and grenade cooldowns

- If you see someone on the radar wait for them to come round the corner and try to time a grenade at that corner

Always move with other players in PvP. If you're solo you're toast unless you're an extremely good player.

Yeah, moving as a team is a good general rule. As far as class specific tips, though, what should Warlocks be doing? I mean, I just played another deathmatch where I spent most of the time using my trusty scout rifle, and even when I do a combination of maybe three or four shots and a melee energy drain on a single enemy, he still doesn't die, and all he does to kill me is a single fist punch thing. The (arguable) unfairness of this in my mind is that I've pressed about five buttons in a row on target, and he's pressed one button on target, and he's won. A huge proportion of the overall kills in the game (not just my own deaths) seem to be Titans doing punches.

*shrug*

Thanks, I'll try this.

Scout rifles are bloody terrible in PVP. They're powerful, but they just don't have the rate of fire to compete with the spray n pray assault rifles. Even pulse rifles suffer - even after a nerf, assault rifles still rule the roost.

I just had the most awesome game of capture. Went 19-3, got a 5 kill streak, came top of my team...and got no rewards at the end. I need to pray to RNGesus more.

Ehhh, tried auto rifles and it's just as bad. Constant instakill punches. Beautiful but bland map designs that are barely memorable. Far, far too slow weapon switching. Frequent lag spikes. Inability to choose maps. I'll stay for PVE, but for PVP it's back to the timeless and superior in every possible way Team Fortress 2.

Multiplayer has really been clicking for me recently but only in certain modes. I think it's a combination of levelling up my gear plus playing the smaller modes. The 3v3 team deathmatch has been a lot of fun. Had a great game earlier with some randoms where both teams seemed to be very well coordinated. Lots of flanking, ducking behind cover, last ditch revival attempts and all round tense situations. Free-for-all deathmatch also seems like a good one. I seem to react a lot faster when I know that anything that moves must be shot :)

After that I tried Control. Ended up on that Moon map with the vehicles, I hated it. Nothing like losing to a team that has control of the tank, a pike and the rest are deadly accurate with sniper rifles. :(

I use an Auto Rifle, a Fusion Rifle and a Rocket Launcher. I'm useless with shotguns and sniper rifles in anything other than PVE. The Scout Rifle and Handguns always seem to lose out to the Auto Rifle in 1-on-1 situations too. Just aim a full clip at their head and hope that your teammates are doing the same.

Horribleman and I just did the Winter's Lair strike on the Level 20 Vanguard strike playlist. We had a third, but he had to drop off after battery issues, so we had to take the final quarter or so with the two of us. I'm level 22, Horribleman is 19. Man, that was tough. The last fight with the Archon took forever. We only had to restart it once, but we died individually a heap of times.

I do wish the end bosses were a little better calibrated for fun.

I wish the end level bosses were more skill based. More skills, more abilities, more tactics and less health. My group of friends are getting pretty good with our communication (we're not FPS pros by any margin) and we can clear out a room of support troops pretty quickly and then we spend the next few minutes just pumping round after round into some of the bosses until the reinforcements arrive. This repeats for far too long. I wish we could wipe them out a lot quicker more down to skill.

Still... I'm obsessed with this game. I love it. I can't wait until the rest of my group level up and we can fail miserably at the Vault of Glass :D
